Well, that's disappointing. Oh well, I was stoked with the original lineup. Hopefully later releases will fill out the undercard a bit for me.
Re: Hangout getting Langerado'd. Doubt it. Langerado's worst enemy was the fact that it wasn't close to anyone. Hangout is closer to millions of people, in what I think is the best festival site in the country, sold out last year, and is bankrolled by a billionaire. Outside of inforooland, I'm seeing a ton of people who are psyched about this lineup.
Langerado went to shit because they moved it from the middle of nowhere to Miami, and booked a bunch of pop acts nobody wanted to see.
Hey Pablo, when's the part where my mind blows? What a jerk. This is so disappointing. I was really hoping this last healiner would save it. I've been to 11 major festivals and I was so excited to finally call The Hangout home....but nope, now I've got to consider the 'roo, wanee or jazz fest...FCUK!....there'll be a condo opening up at Seawind.

I'm bummed about this addition, but you're crazy if you think lineups like this will ever Langerado this festival. DMB and RHCP are going to sell a ton of tickets, and the novelty of the beach isn't going away anytime soon.

Wanee has the best lineup this year. For heads at least.
i gotta say while lots of us are disappointed, including myself, this lineup is not really a huge drop off from last year. they didn't get a big classic name like paul simon, but then again, lots of the kids that go to this don't care about that. there were definitely a bunch that didn't care about him there last year. dmb is huge, like him or not, rhcp is just as big as foos if not bigger. plus jack white. the same people that love wsp love sci. wilco is a fest fav, skrillex, again like him or not, he's huge, bigger than last year's dj's. people still love flips, no matter how over-saturated they are and dispatch is huge get to some people. the undercard may be weaker, but lot of the best stuff in the undercard came in the adds last year. so i feel like while by my personal preference the lineup is a lot weaker, to most people it's not. it's going to sellout really fast and be a big success. this fest isn't going anywhere.
The festival will feature four stages, according to the announcement, including two main stages on the beach and an air-conditioned dance tent. A children's area will again be featured, with performers to be announced later.
As it did last year, the festival will feature two main beach stages, one smaller outdoor stage, a dance tent and a kids stage. This year's event also will feature a new comedy stage, according to a festival publicist.

I've also gotta agree with this. Hangout's lineup is nowhere near as bad as the last two Langerado offerings. It's got acts that are known draws, and while I'm not overly excited about it, it will likely sell out pretty quickly.
Maybe I'm being too rash. The Hangout has everything going for it experience wise (other than late night being a separate event). It's the beach. You don't wake up at 7:00am sweating in a tent......They just really fell short in the headliner category this year. No edge. I even wish Wilco, SCI and Beck (where did that rumor go!?) were headlining.
One last thing: I never, in my life as a music-loving man, figured I'd ever see a lineup poster with the legendary Steve Winwood placed between names like Skrillex, Dispatch, STS9 and Gogol Bordello. And Randy Newman below Coheed & Cambria. Bizarro World'd.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
Year one showed us the experience. Shocked a lot of locals like myself (festivals in alabama typically do not make it). Created a huge buzz from the 10-12,000 attendees.
Year two blew minds with the lineup because really there weren't any expectations. Foos? Panic? Paul Simon? Primus? MMJ? Black Keys? on the beach?! holy crap!
Year three, expectations were CRAZY high. It didn't hurt that plenty of hype was being pumped out by those within the fest. they were remaining tight lipped, but there was plenty of wink wink nudge nudge its gonna be amazing type stuff going on. This could be when they were pursuing an insane name like macca or phish or neil. maybe those didn't pan out and we're left with Dave/RHCP/Jack White. BUT, its still a respectable lineup. Plenty of good stuff on there, with 20ish more names to come that will no doubt have some undercard gems. Its just that expectations were so crazy high, we were all expecting hangout to completely crush it this year. they didn't.
but its OK. its great music on the beach with your friends for 3 days. i'm still excited.

DMB and RHCP are pretty good gets. Jack White is also nice. It's just not what we were expecting.
yeah, i think its just lacking that one big name to make you all starry-eyed. paul simon was the big surprise last year. now that i'm over my initial disappointment i'm excited about the possibilities.
I went in '08, and I bet most of you would love to see that lineup this year......bunch of pop bands?

Langerado '08 was great (except the weather). I'm not to psyched about the RHCP. I've seen them twice and they are not good live. I'm hoping that when the rest of the line-up is announced there will be some indie and garage bands.

08' was the last year before it was moved to Miami.
