OCMS was ridiculous last year. So good. Last year also, UM played a heavy solid set, but it was in the middle of the day and probably the hottest point the whole weekend. I doubt either would come back for this year's lineup though. Could see Galactic being added. Seeing them this weekend about 20 minutes from the Hangout.
Yeah, I saw OCMS at the St. Augustine Ampitheater a few years ago. It was such a great experience I'm really hoping to get a chance to see them again soon.
You must be going to the Soul Kitchen show this weekend. I was thinking about going but some friends of mine are throwing a show at Alabama Music Box the same night so I'm not sure if I will make it. Seen them a few times and they never disappoint.
^^^ Who are your friends, Underground Stoner Society? The AMB is one of my main haunts, I'll be there after Galactic is over with.
Carlos (DJCharlesIII) who throws all the TKO/Dub Sq. shows there...I do a lot of the poster & flyer designs for his shows in Mobile, Pcola, Birmingham, Auburn, etc. I did the poster for the show Friday actually.
I've seen USS before tho at a friends keg party in pcola about a year ago. Looking forward to seeing them on stage this time as opposed to someone's living room. lol.
I'm hoping to make galactic this Friday as well. Having HISB open is icing on the cake.
Also going to catch VNV Nation at Vinyl Music Hall in pcola Sunday. So excited I don't work Monday! This will also be my first visit to vinyl, I've heard it's a great venue.
Hahahaha Carlos is a good friend of mine. Do you go to his parties on the regular? If you're in Pcola you prob know Grateful Funk too
Yeah, I know Gavin! Was at a kegger last night he supposed to dj at. I had to dip out early for work in the morning so I never caught his set.
I go to most of the edm and hip hop shows in the area when possible. Been in that scene for over 10 years now and been doing most of the flyer work for the past 5 years at least.

I was thinking about going. Still pondering the Yonder Mountain show Wednesday.
Vinyl is a great venue. Drink prices can add up quick, but it's a nice spot. A great thing for Pensacola.

let me ask you something if you don't mind. around here the show start time may be listed as 9pm, but we all know the show will actually start at 11pm at the earliest. how is vinyl with their show times? the VNV Nation show is listed as a start time of 7:30pm. if I show up at eight, will I have to wait two hours for the music to start?
thanks! don't want to miss any of the show but don't want to hang out in a bar for two hours if i don't have to.
VNV Nation would be great but no way I'm skipping Joe Cain day, biggest party all year in Mobile. Pine Hill Haints are playing their annual Joe Cain show at the AMB too....always a blast.

Their website says 7:30...I'd expect them to start sometime between then and 8. In my experience, they usually start 15 minutes later than advertised. Apparently it's an earlier show than normal because it's all ages on a Sunday night.
Last week I went there for Sleigh Bells and Diplo and the opening band Liturgy started about 30 minutes later than advertised. Then again, there was still a pretty long line outside when the advertised start time hit so they probably waited to let more people inside.
I wouldn't show up too late unless you just have no desire to see the opening act.

YMSB should be pretty bad ass, we have our tickets already and will definitely be there. Prob hit up some brew at HJ prior. Vinyl is for sure a great place for pensacola. I've enjoyed the crap outta havin' it here.
We should definitely all touch base at Galactic. I might also try to make it down to AMB afterwards. Get down good times.
Just saw the Col at the Kitchen......really good show. He needs a new guitarist though...
There is a rager going down at the AMB this Saturday. 3rd annual M.O.O.R.E ball....(Mystic Order of Revolutionary Enlightenment).... these are always fun and have never ended before sunrise. After it's over we're going to Church Street cemetary to check out the Merry Widows procession fro Joe Cain's grave.
There are so many good shows going on in the area this week.
There's also a show in Pensacola on Saturday after the downtown mardi gras parade called Pardi Gras. I designed the flyers for it too. Sir Charles from Jacksonville is the headliner and he always puts on a good show if you're into edm.

I actually just now read about the M.O.O.R.E ball on the Lagniappe. Sounds pretty killer. Dont know if we'll be able to make that unfortunately, we are only in Mo'town for Friday night and back to p'cola it is on Sat. So, we'll prob just be settle w/ the Col. in our hometown. Last time we caught him was the first year's hangout after party at the Keg w/ Papa Mali and GP Jr. That was one hell of a set...

Sweet, yeah I think I saw that on JB, at Dolce Vita right? Not really too much into edm honestly, have some a lot of friends who dig it, but I wouldnt necessarily count out the show as a later night option. What's the cover?

yeah, @ Dolce Vita by city hall on Reus st.. $10 at the door. They're doing it in the smaller building this time for a more intimate show so they're expecting it to fill up pretty quickly.

i love that there isnt a ton of crossover with the roo lineup. rhcp are worth seeing twice. will skip skrillex on the farm, apart from that dispatch was the only band i didnt expect to see pop up.
Roo lineup is pretty weak imho. Prince was the dealmaker for me to go back. Seen most of the bands playing, and will see Beach Boys @ Jazzfest, which will be a much better environment for that show (i.e less stupid kids rolling for the first time surrounding me)
In all honesty, the band I'd like to see the most at Roo is BAD BRAINS! FTW, that is a score right there.

I agree with you. I wish there was even less crossover honestly. I like RHCP, but having already seen them I'd prefer one of the two fests and picked a different headliner. And I'm excited to see Dispatch, but same with them. But overall I'm excited about both lineups.

Roo got a little better undercard, but I'm glad the big 3 rumor held. Not a huge fan of Radiohead (uh oh, will I get permabanned?) or Phish. Much more excited about DMB and Jack White. Bon Iver, Shins, Roots, Alice Cooper, Ludacris, those all would have been nice

After seeing the bonnaroo lineup and giving it some thought, this lineup is more appealing to me. Roo might be better overall, but everyone who I wanna see there I've seen before in the past couple years. Hangout has a couple gems that I've never seen before.

Both will have a handful of solid additions. its hard to beat radiohead but i could see how some people like this lineup better .. not making that stretch but i could see it

I like Radiohead, I do, and I'll be sad to miss out on Ben Folds Five, but otherwise I'm perfectly happy with the Hangout lineup. Plus I'm looking forward to the beach instead of the farm, and a condo. So much to look forward to! Now I have to book a flight...

We used to see Carlos at the Kids Got the Disco stuff here in Birmingham. He was really good.
