One of the biggest acts ever will more than likely be heading out on the road one last time next year to celebrate 50 years of touring and I can't think of a better place to celebrate that then Bonnaroo.
When the Stones come to town they bring a buzz or vibe with them that is second to none. When they were here in Calgary on the Bigger Bang tour it was all anybody could talk about for a week leading up to and a week after the show.
They have one of the, if not the best catalog of tunes out there.
The only booking that could rival this IMO is Paul McCartney but for me the Stones win out because it's still Mick, Keith, Ronnie, and Charlie.
I guess we'll have to keep dreaming until February!
And wow, you're like a walking, talking infomercial to turn people away from Pearl Jam and Ohio State, aren't you? Before you started posting here I quite liked Pearl Jam and was indifferent towards OSU, now I find myself wishing that Eddie Vedder falls down a mine shaft or that Columbus is infested with locusts

This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

I have been fortunate to see the Stones more than 7 times. They love to play festivals, that would be their Bonnaroo connection. They love to play large arenas and small venues. Do not be surprised if they not only play the main stage but a tent as the New Barbarians or some other name. Yeah they are the greatest Rock and Roll band ever.
I've had a bootleg dvd of this for years and years. All I need to say is the name and people are like "what the fuck are you talking about"? But, yes, it is a decent documentary, mostly good for shocks though.

As mentioned earlier they like to do big festivals. Actually just big big big in general.
You know what... even if they are dinosaurs at this point (or maybe they're just Highlanders instead? ), I'd still love this. The fact that they like to do big festivals does increase our chances, but the only recent one I can think of that they've done is Isle of Wight.
And I know people have made this argument for other big money acts before, but I could see a Stones appearance significantly raising the cost of a Roo ticket. Probably nothing ludicrous, but a jump in GA ticket prices from ~$250 to ~$300 is not out of the realm of possibility.
Besides, in my three years at Roo I've learned to put hardly any stake in the headliners. In ten years of Bonnaroo, there have only been a few headliners that I was (or would have been) truly excited for - Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Pearl Jam, Neil Young and Crazy Horse... and that's about it. The Stones would certainly be among those elite few.

Caught them at the biggest festival I ever went to in Toronto in '03 for the SarsFest. ACDC blew them out of the water. Hopefully I'll enjoy them more on the farm if they do headline.

For everyone who thinks the Stones are only about money. Last I saw them was 2002 in San Diego at the Sports Arena. I think my ticket was 60 to 90 face value. The Sports arena seats maybe 6,000 people. On that tour they played everything from Bars to Football stadiums. For most bands they key is in their cost, from equipment moving, roadies, hotels and all that goes with it. For the chance to play in the premiere festival in the USA in front of 80,000 plus I would not be surprised if they did it for the usual headliners wage. But they will have a $300.00 jacket and 65.00 shirts to sell you! But I'd pay an additional 50 to have the stones there.
