We have the Smoothie King center. It used to be toilet bowl green when it was just the New Orleans arena, but lucky they painted it after Smoothie King bought it. Also, the Superdome is actually the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. This is what happens when business buy arenas.
Shinedown and Five Finger Death Punch are playing at the arena here. The ad on the radio says the name of the tour is The Arena Rock Tour. How terrible is that? Also the White Sox new name of their stadium is Guaranteed Rates stadium. I think that's even worse?
so, I actually do love my job, but trying to make sure I've got everything in place to meet the health needs of 1300 kids starting school on Monday has me feeling like this right about now:

Tonight has been a bust. Drove to my college area (where I hope to be working and have my own place again shortly) because I am going to Richmond tomorrow to see my brother and I have a day pass for Lockn on Saturday. My two corn connections are dry and my buddy flaked on going to the bars with me.

I'm moving to California and starting my road trip out there tomorrow with 2 friends. We're going from Cincinnati -> Kansas City -> Denver -> Zion National Park -> Vegas -> Los Angeles
Any and all suggestions for things to see/do or places to stay would be much appreciated!

In between Denver and Zion you should stop at Arches/Moab for a day. Really cool park and only like 30 minutes off the highway right as you get into Utah.

will you be in Denver labor day weekend? you could catch teh Phish at Dicks, I'll be there.
I've never been to Zion but my good friend who is very well travelled was astounded by it. This guy has been all over the world, Prague, Vietnam, Thailand, India, all over South America, etc., and after Zion told me he was "ashamed" that he saw all those places before visiting this place right in his own country.
Vegas is kind of hard to fuck up, so many things to do. We went for our honeymoon but just barely scratched the surface. The Flightlinez zipline thing outside Boulder City, NV was amazing. Favorite shows were Absinthe and the MJ Cirque. Favorite activity was sitting by the pool at the Four Seasons drinking root beer floats and having servants spray bottled Evian water on our faces.

In Las Vegas, go to Red Rock Canyon. Edited to add: If you don't have the time or inclination to hike, it's absolutely worth going just to drive around the loop and maybe get out at a couple of the observation points. If you're interested in hiking, the Calico Tanks trail off the Quarry lot is a popular hike for good reason - it's not super difficult, although there are a couple of uphill parts that will definitely get your heart rate up, and the view at the end is excellent.

Also are you going to Tame Impala?
Thanks for the suggestion. I wated to go to Tame Impala but the timing won't work out. I'll be there Sunday and Monday and they have shows both nights, will I still be able to go see the park/ampitheater for the sights or will it all be closed?

Sweet you just validated everything we've heard about Zion, we're hoping to camp there on Tuesday. Thanks for the other suggestions, another thing we want to do near vegas is check out the Hoover Dam

Definitely still worth checking out. If you get there in the morning till like noon you should be able to explore and go into the amphitheater before they close stuff off for the concerts.

The Hoover Dam is definitely worth seeing, but personally, I didn't think the tour was worth the cost. They apparently shortened it a lot after 9/11, so there's not really that much to it.

Noted! We weren't planning on doing a tour, just stopping by to see it.

If you want to add a couple hours on your drive between Vegas and LA, swing through Joshua Tree. It's gorgeous. If you'll be living in LA for a bit though, it's a great spot to visit

I'll be living in Costa Mesa actually, but the suggestion still stands. Thanks!
