We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
I was learning Chinese a few years ago. You wouldn't believe how many "Asian Singles" ads started showing up when I'd do any sort of web browsing.
Did it work out? Chinese seems like it would be difficult to learn.
A little. I can comment on the weather and tell people I can't speak well and such. At my best I was ready for like Chinese level 3 classes. And of course I can say "beer".

I feel pathetic as a nearly thirty year old man, to be plagued by body issues. I am nervous about returning to the farm this or any summer, forty pounds heavier than my last visit. I am working out and focused on a well rounded diet, and not noticing a hint of result. I just hate being sweaty and exhausted, especially at the farm.

I was 230 lbs in my late 20s and 175 lbs in my early 30s. Calorie counting and working towards a half marathon worked for me.

Back to Mansplaining, I randomly came across this in a conversation on Twitter. It's the Rebecca Solnit essay that is credited with creating the term. Since people were asking about the term, I thought I'd share it.
This is actually a work question, but you fine people are the best people to ask considering the experience level. When discussing festival passes, the correct way is "3-day pass" and "single-day pass," correct? With the hyphens? Boston Calling doesn't use them and is making me second guess myself. bostoncalling.com/tickets.html Are they both correct or should they always be hyphenated as compound adjectives? I tried googling around and couldn't easily find a definite answer.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

You're correct. Three-day and single-day are both compound modifiers. It's the same as long-term deal or five-foot wall. The two preceding words act in conjunction to modify the noun. I always hyphenate but I think different style guides adhere to different guidelines. Hyphenation seems more clear to me though.

Thanks, Goldbees. I will keep it as I have drafted (with the hyphens). Stupid BC site trying to confuse me! Also, my coworker who was an English major and usually kills it with grammar questions, is the one who sent me copy which didn't include the hyphens. That did not help. Our institution follows Chicago guidelines and we tend to hyphenate everything.

English majors love to get fancy with their prose. Some of them even ignore punctuation all together. We journalists love our rules. Mainly because we're not as talented as the English majors.
I just have to throw it out there. I have no idea what world people live in where a disagreement over a movie can destroy a relationship. It just seems like such an easy thing to get around. For example, the lady friend hates reality tv. H.A.T.E.S IT, so I just can't talk about it that much with her or watch it around her. Easy peasy.
