Poll: replace my sig with upcoming shows like some users have or keep Kermit and Fozzie gif?
Also, just learned they're doing the freaking Muppets live at the Hollywood Bowl in September. Won't be able to go, but dammit they need to bring that to Coachella or something next year.
keep Kermit and Fozzie gif
I was thinking the same after I made the initial post.

I'm with spent and keep the gif. You seem like you go to a ton of shows and keeping up with that is a PITA.
Didn't OSL snag Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem last year? It's plausible they would do other shows at other festivals.
I haven't gone to many shows lately, so it'd be a bit easier to track, but it could be a PITA.
When I was a kid I heard that looking at an eclipse could blind you, so I had an irrational fear that I'd be outside and suddenly an eclipse would happen and I'd be blind.
I realized I still carry a piece of this fear with me because I have zero trust in eclipse glasses and will 100% be inside and away from windows when the eclipse happens.

We made the cardboard box thingy. I am very wary of those glasses. Like what makes them so special that you can look at the sun? You can't do that with regular glasses. I just don't understand. Hence the cardboard box. I used that in 1984 during the last eclipse I witnessed and I am fine today.

I've been looking at the sun and sunsets for over 50 years. I'm not blind yet, though my eyes aren't great anymore. It's somewhat cloudy here, so the sun will be eclipsed anyway. Looks to start in 1 minute and peak here sometime around 1:20ish.

Don't do that. Put on you eclipse glasses and get out there. This doesn't happen that often. And as a Druid, this is a magical time.

Your ass should probably be in Oregon. An old hippie friend I was talking with last night told me that none other than Steve Hillage is there with sometimes wife/partner Miquette Giraudy doing some electronic thing they do called Sector Seven I think. Hillage is best known for his work as the original guitarist for space-rock/freak-rock band Gong. Some of his other 70's solo work (post-Gong) ruled as well. Selections like the Solar Musick Suite (off Fish Rising) and play on that, the Lunar Musick Suite. Magick Brothers and Mystick Sisters indeed.

For the non-hippies and non-Druids, he was a pioneer of the Glassando Guitar Technique where the strings are bent while played utilizing a dental tool.

I faced my fear and went outside and looked. It was cool, thanks for the push.
I was also a little hungry, and my office supplied pizza and a pile of chocolate moon pies, so I had one of each. Still hungry but dinner will have to wait!

Not often at all. 2024 till the next one and it will be fuller here than the partial we got today. It didn't even get dark today. In 1984, I remember it getting way darker.

It was completely dark here and amazing.
I have seen some photos from friends in the totality zone. I am very envious.
5.5/four tet, daphni b2b floating points, avalon emerson 5.12/neil young 5.19/mannequin pussy 5.21/serpentwithfeet 5.25/hozier 6.12-16/bonnaroo 6.28/goose 6.29/goose 9.17/the national + the war on drugs 9.23/sigur ros 9.27-29/making time 10.17/air
That was honestly one of the coolest, weirdest experiences I've ever had.
Agreed, and it was only about 75% here. Very envious of those in totality, but I'll definitely be catching that in 2024.
I am definitely doing a road trip for the total eclipse in 2024. My sister lives in Dallas, wasn't born until after the last total eclipse here in NOLA and wasn't in the total path this year. So I think she would like that.
To be somewhere that had either 98%-99% totality, I found the whole experience a bit underwhelming.
Also, I glanced with the glasses, no glasses, and using the selfie mode on my phone. My eyes feel fine. I think everybody got a little carried away.
Think about what would happen if people DIDN'T emphasize eye protection though. Bands of idiots would show up at emergency rooms across the land because they stared at the sun for 20 minutes. It may be overkill but it's pretty harmless.
Either that or Big Sunglasses has way more clout with The Main Stream Media than the Optometrist Union.

I was at 97.4% blockage and the eclipse was pretty cool. I was more interested in seeing how dark it got and taking some neat pictures around campus. The neatest thing was the shadows.
