My sister's wedding is on Friday and the groomsmen (I'm one of them) are all wearing the same thing: white shirt, black pants, red tie.
I did not have any of those things, so this week I went to Nordstrom to go get a shirt and pants tailored. Walking through there, I realized I have no goddamn sense of style.
I've been thinking of updating my wardrobe to be more than an amalgamation of t-shirts and two pairs of jeans for a while, but holy shit that was the kick in the ass.
Where do I start with something like that?
Thirding /r/malefashionadvice and selecting good fit over style every time. Next time you get something tailored go ahead and get all your measurements done. Knowing all your sizes makes online shopping a lot easier. And shopping online makes it easier to build a wardrobe affordably. My favorite places to shop are East Dane, J.Crew/J.Crew Factory, Scotch & Soda, Taylor Stitch, Pendleton, Carhartt, and Todd Snyder if you want to click through there for some ideas. Gap, Uniqlo, American Eagle, and quite frankly Abercrombie all have some good looking stuff that's a little more affordable if you don't want to pay Taylor Stitch prices.
Get your basics first and then add on more specific stuff tailored to the style of clothes you want to wear after that.
I know this one might be tricky for you but I say it's worth it to spend good money on shoes. You can get (and replace) a nice looking oxford from anywhere. But shoes need to last a long time and look good their whole life.
Big Taylor Stitch fan here. Their shirts fit me pretty well except the sleeves are too long. I've been rolling them up but just took one to a tailor to get the sleeves shortened. I know sleeve shortening can be tricky, we'll see how it goes.
I'll second you on the shoes. I used to buy just whatever for shoes, and generally in about a year they started looking pretty trashed. But I started buying Allen Edmonds and 2.5 years later they still look great. Aged definitely but in a graceful way. I also have a great pair of boots from AE and just bought a pair of casual loafers (badlands) from them during the sale, we'll see how those work out.

Everyone so far has been really spot on, and 10goldbees and I apparently have really similar style.
If you're looking for dress shirts, check out both Charles tyrwhitt and t.m. lewin. They are both London shirtmakers and very good quality, better than dept. stores and j.crew factory by far, and I like them better than my j.crew and banana as well.
They also offer 4 different fits and post all the measurements for the different fits on their sites. Plus their sizing is slightly different among all the fits so you can find a shirt that fits well and needs minimal tailoring off the rack.
CT is having a sale right now too with shirts for 29.99,
Well I learned about Taylor Stitch from postjack so I think we all probably have some overlap haha. Good to know about Tyrwhitt. They keep sending me coupons so I might have to use one soon.
And Postjack the Taylor Stitch sleeves are too long for me too. I've had good luck with sleeve shortening and it helps so, so much.
As far as shoes go I adore my Wolverine 1000 Mile Evans boots but I just got a pair of Quoddy bluchers and they might take over as favorite pair soon here.

My only complaint with CT is no second button on he sleeves at mid forearm, only at the wrist, so rolling up the sleeves can be a little billowy. But the fit is great and definitely well made. Plus metal collar stays.

I made the Tyler Florence-style mashed potatoes. A+ would recommend for special occasions because cooking taters in heavy cream and milk can get expensive.
Also recommend mashing up a little of the garlic instead of taking it all out.
I have a really dry, flaky patch of skin on my eyelid. It stings and gets swollen constantly. Of all the places on my body, WHY MY EYELID!?
Me too, actually - I feel your pain! Dermatologist said it's dermatitis and gave me a cream that seems to work. Also if you have a humidifier that may help.

We’ve been in the market for a humidifier for a while now. Time to pull the trigger. Between my eyelid and my scalp, I’m just constantly stressed out from being painfully itchy.
Bitcoin $8,889.00. Paper billionaires exist again. Digital maybe. In late but you can’t hate on > 50% return in 5 weeks. Wish I would have had a couple million to speculate with. I’d have bought a 1.1MM penthouse in 5 weeks.

This is insanity. A lot of the other cryptos are exploding as well. I think if you bought in on IOTA, XRP and a few other cheap ones now, you'd make bank in a year or a few years. A post my friend made that put things into perspective:
"If you took 5 of the cryptos that are still in the top 10 from Jan. 1, 2017 and compare them to Nov. 23, 2017 here is what you would have if you invested 1k in each on Jan 1st 2017...
BTC - $963.00 to $8,122.00 - total $8,434
ETH - $8.26 to $422.00 - total $51,089
XRP - $0.0065 to $.24 - total $36,923
LTC - $4.37 to $76.00 - total $17,391
DASH - $11.26 to $569 - total $50,532
...for a grand total of $164,369.00 for $5,000 invested.
That's over 33X your 5k investment- translated to 3,300% gains since Jan. 1."

Often a bland cream (Vaseline) can relieve symptoms without side effects. If it's persistent or really red then you can use cortisone cream that is over the counter and inexpensive. This is a steroid though and doesn't belong in your eye. Wash your hands after you put it on the affected lid or just paint it on with a q-tip. Chronic steroid use can raise risk of glaucoma and/or cataracts so use the cortisone 10 until it's clear and then switch back to moisturizer. Finally, if you have mattering in the morning you may have staph/strep overgrowth (blepharitis) and lid scrubs with unscented baby shampoo in the evening would help or perhaps you would need antibiotic ointment. Hope this wordy-ass response helps a tiny bit.
Ive just been putting a small amount of my facial moisturizer (it’s pretty gentle and light) on the affected area once a day. Been trying to just keep it clean and moisturized as best I can’t. I brush away the flakes just so they don’t get in my eye.
Today is the best it’s been all week. Not as scaly feeling or looking.

And a few hours later we are testing 9300 with last trade at 9299.99. 60% in 5 weeks. Southeast Asia will be the richest mfers on the planet. 1 BTC now = 7 oz of Gold. Take that Ron Paul!
"I poured whiskey to a water bottle in the dark parking lot of an Austin laundromat. Jug to mug. Sands of liquor sifting through an upturned hourglass."
I once owned a smartphone. It was for about 6 months the beginning of 2014 until it was stolen. I have before and since owned the same dumbphone since about 2008. This past weekend I sold my soul to the man. Not being constrained to written and memorized directions feels pretty weird. Having email on-the-go is pretty cool, I guess.
I have the next 8 days off work, and Ms. Snowman is at a conference so I get to be full-time dad, hanging with a 7 month old all day and going to the park with the 5 year old in the afternoons.
I played Xbox for the first time in 6 months today, and took an afternoon nap.
Life is good in my neck of the woods.
Super late to this, but CONGRATULATIONS! That's wonderful, all around
The BTC is about to cross 10,400. 70% in two weeks. That shit is so dangerous but damn. More and more millionaires every day as opposed to a hundredaires like me. I wonder if the value escalation will destabilize traditional fiat markets and cause inflation - not to mention all the money that should be being introduced into the world economy? Postjack?

I'm not a PhD or anything, but I majored in economics.
First, there are an estimated 5 trillion US dollars in circulation today. The total value of all currency in the world is estimated at 60 trillion. The number of bitcoins out there multiplied by the current price puts their total value at around 100 billion, so around 1/50, or 2%, of the total value of US dollars and 1/600, or .0016667%, of the total value of all currency in the world. It's a blip. I would not expect it to have much of an effect at all, much less destabilize or alter countries' monetary policy.
Second, no money is being taken out of the economy. Some people are paying other people in other currencies for bitcoin, at increasing prices. It's a financial transaction. One person is receiving dollars and doing something with them, presumably not buying more bitcoin. The people who now own bitcoin are not hoarding money, they merely own a digital trinket that may or may not hold a certain level of value to other people in the future.
i did it! i obsessed over a dog so much that my fiance agreed to finally get one! i just finished the adoption application, and hopefully next month, this guy will be home with us!
Thanks Crab Mech. That makes perfect sense. So we're not creating new money, it's really just a matter of existing wealth being reallocated. I don't know where the time to jump off is if ever. There are so many people thinking this will get to the 6 figures or possibly even $1MM. I'm thinking with the 100,000 new accounts Coinbase opened between Thanksgiving Wed-Fri, that a lot more people may be jumping in over the holidays as they hear about excessive profits being made by everyone all the time these days.
