Seeing the movie Elizabethtown at the theaters in 2005 for me.
haha, I never saw that movie, but I did hear the soundtrack. I used to review albums for a website in college, and they would send me one a week to listen to (not my choice) and write up a review about, and one of them was the elizabethtown soundtrack. I already almost the entire soundtrack in my music collection any way though.
and the first time I heard MMJ I was a cold, wet teenager standing in a mud puddle on the advice of a stranger, almost 11 years ago.
Apparently I'll be in Chicago the week before Bonnaroo for a work conference thing. Any suggestions on what to do/see at night? I've never been.
Ohhhhh shit, really?
Edit: Wait....I'm looking at their tour dates and not seeing anything. Did you get my hopes up for nothing?
SECOND Edit: Ohhhhh.....they are playing the 9th. That's just a few days before I leave for Roo. I'll be in Chicago June 1st-5th. I should have specified. I got SO excited for like 20 seconds.

I was not a teenager, but I have been listening to them for about the same amount of time. My ex introduced me to them. He had really great taste in music, even if he sucks.

I saw this movie in theaters. Didn't realize there was a MMJ song in it. I have also only seen it the one time and I have a feeling that I wasn't paying attention to the soundtrack.
Never heard any one else say anything about them until I got here and I was surprised with how many people loved them. I really need to re watch that episode.
Still haven't seen this episode. I've been told about it numerous times, and know the entire background to it. But I've never seen it.

You should see me.
I'm not totally sure where I'll be or where you're living (I know nothing about Chicago) but the conference I'll be at is in McCormick Place West. Is that a location? Or a building? Or a person?

When I first saw their tour dates my first thought was "i'll do the 3day run in Chicago!" and then realized it was right before Roo. so when you said "week before roo" I got excited for you.

hahaha, that's a building. It's a very large conference center. You'll almost 100% not be staying nearby and will be taking a shuttle to and from your hotel.
Alright, I just got all the tile floors in my house (which is ALOT) spotless and the entire time, I listened to Sound of Silver (for like the hundredth time.) I've always loved the album but listening to it while doing such a long, awful chore and not being able to fight the urge to dance periodically, I've come to the conclusion that you have to actively try to be in a bad mood in order to not smile/dance while listening to Sound of Silver. This is, of course, excluding "New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down" (especially if you've watched "Shut Up and Play the Hits.") because you should know that the only proper response to that song is to sob as you smile, thinking about a relatable topic.

I hate my neighbors' animals. One neighbor has a bird they put out on the porch when it is nicer outside. It is loud as fuck. The other has a dog they put outside sometimes in a small fenced area. It will bark at me the entire time I am outside regardless of how close or far away I am. I have spent hours outside before working in the yard, and it never stops.
A friend posted a picture of her son. He looks just like Perfume Genius. I can't tell her this though because she has no idea who that is, and a random Google image search will probably pull up some weird stuff.
When I plot out things for the future, I think more about lawn mowers and new cars than festivals, and this is probably the least excited I have been for Bonnaroo in my years of going. Am I becoming an adult? This is terrifying.
The ladyfriend finally has as close to an official date as she is going to get for her move out to California. She hasn't booked the flight yet, but she will probably be leaving the 30th. I am not taking it as well as I expected to.
I wish I lived in a place with mass transit because cars are annoying.

If you ever feel the need to recapture your youth, I will gladly trade you a festival ticket for a new car.

At least they don't have 8 mastiffs in a 1400 sq ft house on a suburban plot of land.

If you're staying downtown and have free time, the architecture tours on the river are actually really worth it. You can drink on them too. If you go to Navy Pier, which is very tourist trappy but has great views of the city and boat tours on the lake leave from there, there's a free stained glass museum in the basement that's really extensive. I second Dr. Joe on the Green Line on tap. The neighborhoods are where it's at if you're going out for a night, so many to choose from and each has their own distinct vibe.
My favorite music venues were The Hideout, B.L.U.E.S. On Halsted, the Riviera, and the Aragon if you have time for a show. The first two are closer to downtown and shows are generally slightly cheaper at those as well. Atlas Brewing near B.L.U.E.S. has great beers and food, and Barrelhouse Flat right down the street has killer cocktails that are a tad more expensive. Have fun! I miss Chicago life.
When I have DVR'ed something I will work my butt off trying to avoid having it spoiled before I watch it. As soon as it's done, I immediately go online to try and find out what might happen in the next episode. That can't be healthy.
Looking through some long running/old threads on here is almost creepy. All these users who haven't logged in or posted in so long, it's like a world frozen in time, and it's right here on Inforoo!

I was thinking the other day about who people would bring back if they could bring back any poster who has fallen off for some reason. I mean, the person they would bring back aside from Flanz. Everyone knows that beautiful bastard is in the #1 slot.

nitetimeritetime is who I would bring back. There are probably only a handful of us that were around when he was an active poster.

I feel like he would be a very strong contender. Also, I am totally not surprised that liked your post.
I got curious and went back to read the thread/convo that made Flanz quit the board...why do I torture myself like this?
Also, today I was driving to work at smelled something weird, that to me smelled like sulfur. I was passing a construction site so I figured it had to do with that. But then while in my building at work I smelled it again. I started to worry it was me, but I showered this morning and we don't have sulfur-y water so I don't think it was that. Then about a half hour later I realized that I washed my beard with my roommate's all-natural coconut shampoo. Now I just feel like a pretty princess.
