Fuck the Tobin Center's ticketing system. I couldn't make a purchase for Puscifer tickets today to save my life. Kept giving weird errors like, "No price for admission". There were 6th row seats when I first got a chance, but those quickly dried up.
I finally broke down and called the venue to purchase tickets over the phone. Thought it was '95 for just a second. Actually ended up with some decent front row mez. tickets. And from what I've seen of the venue, should offer a great view. I've seen Puscifer and Tool front row before, I'll sit back and enjoy the spectacle this time.
I was cursing like a sailor for a minute though, before I finally got through with someone on the phone.
I am glad you got tickets. I tried to pick my tickets on the interactive map that just wouldn't work at work. I ended up in Orchestra Right, and I am glad I released tickets several time because I kept getting better seats every time. I almost called to get center, but when I got home and checked the map, all Orchestra center were VIP package seats and $250 each. Fuck that.

Ya, I'm actually really excited to see a show at the Tobin Center. They spent $107 million to build it, and it is supposed to have some of the best acoustics of any concert hall in the country. And I think my front row mezzanine tickets should give me a perfect spot to hear it all.
I'm still chuckling that I bought tickets over the phone in 2015, and that it was actually easier then doing it online!

I technically bought mine on the phone too...just through an app. Seriously though, why is it easier to get tickets on the app or telephone in 2015? If there is a show with high demand, you have a much greater chance of scoring tickets through the app.

I think I remember hearing on NPR that it's faster via the app then online because they give preferential treatment to requests coming in from the app. In an effort to drive traffic to their app, of course. It's not much, but for high traffic shows, could be the difference of getting a ticket or not.
No app option for me though, Tobin center doesn't have one for themselves and they appear to be completely independent of Ticket-go-fuck-your-mother-master and Live Nation.
Oh well, all's well that ends well. I ended up with a good ticket

That's good! We have so few shows here that aren't through ticketmaster, every once in awhile I will buy through songkick when I can save on fees if possible.
When Foo Fighters came here and did the HOB 900 tickets intimate show, I wasn't even going to try because I didn't think I would get tickets. Plus, I had literally met him before the surprise Preservation Hall show and then saw them at Voodoo all within 6 months. I used the app, refreshed once at whatever time tickets were released and got tickets. Everyone I talked to got tickets through the app. I know people rocking multiple computers and didn't get any tickets. Although, apparently I got lucky and was the only one that didn't have issues getting tickets, even with the app.
If it is something that I really want tickets for and I am worried about scoring tickets, I will always, always use the app. It hasn't let me down yet. The computer has several times.

I remember showing up at the ticket master window in the mid 90s at 5:30 A.M. 3rd in line, because Metallica tickets went on sale at 10:00. Then at 9:40 they handed out the lottery tickets to randomize everything and discourage camping. Doh...

I remember going to a marshall field's on lunch break from fleet farm around 2004 or so for TOOL tickets. ended up somehow being like 10th in line. the first person asked for 4 tickets or something. lady told her they were obstructed view so so re-searched. and found tickets spaced apart, they took those. then it was sold out, fuck that
edit: it was a chance to see tool in a theater that i missed out on. sad panda
Dude. I'm chilling right next to the sound engineer at Nicolas Jaar's set (he does sound from an iPad within the crowd) and have chatted a while with him. Got around to asking if he knew whether or not Darkside would reunite, assuming he would likely say that he couldn't talk about it. But instead he was like "yes it is very very likely. Don't look for it next year necessarily but definitely by the following year."
God that's good news.
Just to give a little more info to this, he said that they haven't started working on a new album in the studio but definitely have been messing around playing new things together (Nico and Dave, I mean). Then he talked about how they're such good friends and have asserted they definitely don't want to be done playing music together, and it was all very heart warming

The last time I got TOOL tickets (2010 tour), you could only buy two and it was completely random and all tickets were $75. We went with friends and didn't get tickets anywhere close to each other, and the friends got the much better seats. I hate that shit.
I leave for Europe tomorrow and I have ZERO motivation to do anything right now. I have a laundry list a mile long, not to mention actual laundry to do. Inforoo and Facebook are way more fun.
So to follow up on this, I'm currently getting a pedicure instead of doing anything productive. Winning.

You are the best. I hope you enjoy your trip and do everything possible to avoid chores beforehand.

This news made me soooooooo happy
Me toooooo. He told me all of this, and then I swiftly took at my phone and discreetly typed out that post to let you guys know haha. Really thought he was going to evade my question, but this guy was super open to chatting and even showed me how the sound engineering works. It was awesome to watch him do his magic in conjunction with looking up at the front where Nico was going at it.

you're a god.
Thx bae.
No, but he is. I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from his DJ set, and it blew my mind. The lights were really understated, no flashing colors or anything, but it was pretty much perfection. He went from 1130-a little after 2.
