Dover is usually one of the more action-packed tracks on the circuit. The casino is right behind the speedway...I'm sure it will be packed throughout the weekend.
Not sure if you ever been before, but you're allowed to bring alcohol in...just has to be in cans or plastic. Be sure to have the cooler ready.
You bought my car! And that is the only other one in my color that I have ever seen. They don't go in the snow. Don't even try it. Other than that, great car.

Nice! Honestly the color was one of the things that attracted me to it the most. How's yours holding up? And thanks for the tip about the snow; all my past cars have at least been moderately able to handle snow, so this winter may be a challenge haha.

Just get a good pair of snow tires and you'll be fine

The problem with the car is the 18in wheels with wide rims designed for the low-profile speed tires, which are awesome, but are literal skis in the snow. You can't do snow tires without getting smaller rims and tires. They priced mine at a $1000 to make the investment. And, of course, the cost to change them out twice a year. So, weigh down your hatchback and try not to go out when the roads are shit. A car guy once told me that I would be better off driving a Camaro in the winter
The car is mechanically and body condition (no rust) still great for me! No problems at all. Gas mileage is decent, not great, not terrible. It's a fast car, good handling, lightweight (another reason why it sucks in the snow). And, it is sharp. Has nice storage space.

All trim levels of the 2008 Mazda 3 5-doors came with 17 inch wheels, only the Speed3 had 18 inch wheels.

That's great! You can come fit my wide rims with a snow tire then. I have checked into multiple times with many different tire places and mechanics- my rims are too wide for snow tires and I don't have the Speed3. I have to purchase new rims. I've been driving the car for 8 winters now, I think I know what I am talking about.

Is your car a 2008? The OEM equipment that came on ALL 2008 hatchbacks was 205/50R17. This is from Mazda, I'm not pulling it out of my ass.
I am not debating that your car may have been fitted with aftermarket wheels and tires, perhaps the person who bought it new choose an upgraded tire package, but the car Jaz bought very likely has the OEM tire package, which will not be 18 inch wheels. There is no need to get snippy with me when you're presented with facts and not opinion.

Irrespective of the size (mine could very well be 17 inches, I may have thought 18 in in error), the rims of the car are wide and no snow tire made fits on a 17 inch wide rim. According to every single tire place I have ever taken my car to- I have been told that without purchasing new rims, I cannot fit a snow tire on my car. They don't make wide snow tires. The car is designed for speed-rated, low profile tires which are very fat and very little tread. Now, maybe I have been misinformed over & over again, and based upon my own researching in years past (I gave up worrying about it) which has told me I have to buy a whole new set up for the car, which would also cause handling issues. And, it an 08, factory setup, basic Mazda 3 hatchback with huge fat tires and rims which cost me a fortune but it is the only downside to the car.

I would find out what size tires you have, for sure. They're printed right on the side. If they're the OEM size, you can get snow tires that fit for around $100 each on tireack.com, plus installation. It sounds like you have non-OEM equipment though, and if that's true, you can get steelies (plain metal wheels) for less than $50 each + cost of tires.
I'm really not trying to be an ass, I'm a gearhead and the the only thing I care about as much as music is cars. There's no reason you should have to suffer with a poor handling car in the winter.

Well, then, I am sorry! I didn't mean to jump on you. I have had so many mechanics tell me that I have to purchase new rims, cause trust me, I know that I need snow tires living in this godforsaken place when winter comes, been driving in it for years with many different cars and never once had trouble until I bought this car. I have 17in tires (just went and looked) and they say 93wide on the side too (don't know what this means?).
So, apparently, I don't need to buy new rims? I tried multiple times to talk to tire places about getting fitted with something else, to no avail! The rims are very wide. Maybe that is why they recommend buying new rims because the wideness of the tires (irrespective of all-season or winter) is why it kills the cars traction.

Yep, you've been getting jerked around for sure. You can buy something like these online and get them shipped to a local place, and they'll install them for $12-$20 per tire, depending on location. While that is a wide tire, and wideness isn't the best in snow, having snow tires will be a night and day difference.

Well shit, girl, I'm sorry again! Thank you for the information. I feel like an ass now. But, in the meager defense that I have, I was told so many times that they didn't have snow tires for my car w/out an investment in rims!

I'm going to get those f*cking tires for sure!
I like tirerack.com, they have a good selection and most of their tires come with TONS of reviews, that you can sort by make and model of vehicle. I'd search for snow tires and compare the ones within your budget, paying close attention to what drivers of your vehicle have to say about them, as tire performance can vary widely depending on what car they're put on. The ones I linked to just happened to be the cheapest. Just make that the tires have "Serv. Desc: 93" in the description. The letter that follows the 93 can change, depending on speed rating, but the 93 can not.

Tire rack is the bees knees. Been buying my tires and wheels there for years. Great customer service if you have any issues or questions.

Yep, I'm lucky to have a friend who's the service advisor at my local Firestone, so he can order me anything of tirerack with no shipping fees, with his vendor discount. I just put all new tires on my wagon and it cost me under $500 with installation and 4 wheel alignment. I was quite happy haha.
I've bought a couple sets of tires from Tire Rack now. My fiancee's last set also came from there. Their warehouse is down by Bradley Airport and my cousin runs a mechanic shop so I am fortunate I can avoid shipping fees and large fees to put the new tires on.
I've honestly never considered getting snow tires as neither I, nor anyone else in my family that I know of, has ever had them. My car sucks in the snow too (I thiiiink they are 18" low profile ones?)
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

i'm from MN and drive a 2 door honda accord 08'. i have all purprose tires year round, also are 18" lo-pro. just need to know how to drive in the snow is all ;-)
As I usually do, I didn't quite think about the toll 4 festivals in 2 weeks can do to a person. I have never felt as mentally & physically exhausted, among other things, as I do right now. So I am signing off for awhile. Continue to be the smart asses I adore, but also be kind to each other. Because you might never know how much that kindness could mean to someone.

*realizes that this post is just a humblebrag about going to a million festivals and seeing LCD 3 times while some of us have been stuck at home because they're in-between their 2 years of grad school and are broke because they're students & interning & also can't take off time so they've been sad and festival-less all summer and is now realizing that this reply pretty much only is about myself and that steph is still cool but I'm still slightly bitter but can never actually be mad at steph*
There is a guy listening to talk radio on his phone in this restaurant. Not using headphones, on speaker.
I'm enraged.
Call in and complain about that guy being an asshole.
Instead I sat half a restaurant away (where I could still hear his show) and gave him a dirty look. I think he got the message despite the fact that he continued to listen for another twenty minutes before he left.

Been almost a full 24 hours since anyone has posted in this thread, guess I will get the ball rolling.
As those that read the Career/College Advice thread know, I graduated in May and I'm currently job searching. I have an interview set up for the middle of this month that was scheduled two weeks ago. I have been wishing time away to get to this interview, and I really don't want to do that. Trying to get back in shape, play as much golf as I can, and spend time with my girlfriend. Problem with that is, my girlfriend is super busy as she works full-time as an RN and she is a full-time student....I also don't have a good place to run and work out at in my hometown. Just feel like I am in a rut and that I really can't move on from it until I find a job and get my own place away from my hometown.
I'm also getting ready to finish Stranger Things (two episodes left)...if you haven't started it yet, you really should.
