Craziness. Thankfully it's just stitches and puncture wounds. Those shark attack stories always scare me. Hope she gets well soon. Scary stuff.
Yeah, as far as shark attacks go, it's probably a best case scenario.
I'm hoping that I'm now immune to shark attacks. What are the chances that I would be related to someone who's been attacked and then getting attacked myself, right?
around 11am, there's a knock at the door. It's one of my neighbors letting us know he just saw a white Cadillac crash into Jessups parked car, and drive away. Que Jessup jumping into my wagon and pursuing the car, while I stay home and inform another neighbor to be on the lookout for a white Cadillac with front end damage. Not 10 minutes later, same neighbor comes back in his car with the white Cadillac following him, he somehow convinced the guy to come back. Old guy is messed up on something, and not making sense. His car is much more damaged then we expected. Moments later Jessup comes home, apparently he found the guy and confronted him, and the guy ran from Jessup but the neighbor found him.
The police show up a few minutes later, and start questioning the guy. This is where the whole situation changes. The extra damage came from hitting a pedestrian a few minutes prior to our car, whom was killed from the impact, and the police had been searching for him. We didn't even realize we were stopping someone who was fleeing the scene of a homicide, we just thought it was a simple hit and run on our car.
The guy is gone now, but the cops are still here in front of the house with crime scene tape around the Cadillac, and we signed a search warrant to allow them to take paint samples from our car. I'm still in shock.

The odds are in your favor! This is not far from me, we haven't gone to the beach much lately due to shark anxiety!

My brother told me yesterday that while it's good that I speak like no one he's ever met and that it's also good that I write like I speak, that if someone were to read my cover letter the way it is currently written, the people reading it would disregard it, think I used a thesaurus for a third of the words, or would put it aside thinking, "this kid seems weird." Basically if I'm myself, the professional world thinks I'm insane, in the eyes of my brother and his girlfriend. They're probably right. They did say that in a narrative sense, it's a great thing; in a cover letter, not so much.
I'll take narrative prowess as a complement any day, but the knowledge that my perception of reality, vocabulary, and who I am inside (aka the way other people perceive me at first) appears calculated or disingenuous in some way really fucking bums me out. I just need someone to interview me so I can prove that this is just what I'm like. Or maybe I'm way smarter than I give myself credit for. Or maybe I'm just an asshole. Eh. Why can't all of these things be true, Nico?

Unrelated, but probably related:
Do you think if Grizzly Bear would have named that song Fortnight instead that the people who already had so much animosity towards the "Indie" scene at that time would have exploded or would they have sighed, sat down, pointed at that song and simply said, "See?!"

Stoned on a beach. Water is awesome. Should I go to a Sleigh Bells show a 20 min walk away for $15? Or should I drive 40 min and go to a friends place and swim in a pool, grill, drink, and watch ufc?

Pool, grill, drink with friends. There's not many more opportunities for that. Winter is coming.

If it were 2010, I vote Sleigh Bells. Present day, pool, grill, etc. No contest.
Just saw a fight almost break out at McDonald's. That place is trashy af at 2am but stuck it out because I needed a mcmuffin. Got 2 to reward myself.
I once saw this Juggalo manager at a McDonald's almost get assaulted by this young dude who didn't like the way he was treating his GF who worked there. It was almost a snatch the manager over the counter moment.
People who have children/plan on having children, would you let your child play football, knowing what we know about concussions and how big of a deal they are? Also, does anyone feel guilty about watching football?
I 100% will let my kids play and feel no guilt watching football. If those guys don't wanna risk the injuries, all they have to do is turn down those contracts for millions of dollars and get a regular job in the real world (news flash: 99.9% of them won't do that.) Playing in the NFL is a job that comes with known risk of injury and the players are paid more than a fair wage to take said risks. I grew up playing football all the way into college when I went to UF and took a large number of very painful hits. But, I never complained because I knew, as all high level football players do, that I was putting my body on the line every time I stepped on that field. I absolutely loved hitting in football. Going heads up with someone and making them look like a fool is one of the things I enjoy most in this world. I am one of the people that hates all the new rules and stipulations they keep putting on the game to "improve player safety." Some of the rules are fair, but it is making it harder and harder for defenders to do their job because they have to be so aware of exactly how they're hitting other players instead of just being able to worry about stopping the offense. All I'm saying is that nobody should feel terrible about watching football when those guys are making amounts of money in a year that you couldn't imagine making in your lifetime.
