I don't remember ever seeing one of these. I know none of the pizza places we order from use them.
I've only ever seen them at mom & pop type establishments.
I didn't read the article, but aren't they to stop the pizza box from ruining your pizza? I think it is an antiquated item though. I remember them from the 80s/90s but I haven't actually seen one in YEARS. My mommy told me what they were for when I was littler (since I am still little).

I used to see them all the time, but I don't think I've seen one recently. Our regular pizza place uses very thick cardboard boxes, so I don't think sagging would be an issue for them.
On a related note, what does it say about your eating habits when you walk in the pizza place and the girl behind the counter greets you warmly by name even though you weren't the one who called in the pizza and the order wasn't put in your name? (Asking for a friend.)

That you eat your friend eats a lot of pizza from the same place or for a long time from the same joint. My sushi joint does the same to me, I have been going there since before Kyle was born.

We use to live in a different city, near a mall. For years I went to the Chinese place in the mall and ordered the same thing. Even after we moved and only went there a couple times a year, the woman knew me as soon as I walked up and remembered what I order.

Some people are just really good with these types of things! I've been going to the same Chinese restaurant since I was a kid, and the lady working there remembers my whole family (more impressively, even when we aren't all together!). She remembers our orders too. We only eat there a handful of times a year.

It's a frequency thing, really. We get pizza at this place at least once a week. I keep swearing that I'm going to get better about meal planning and grocery shopping (Josh will usually make dinner as long as I figure out what it's going to be and get the groceries), but I'm terrible about getting takeout instead.

This is me also. I don't get pizza that often because I am not a huge fan, but we do get take-out in one form or another more frequently than I like. I made sure when I went to the grocery store this weekend, that I bought all the ingredients to all the meals that we usually do make (Jeremy cooks mostly as well as long as the ingredients are in the house). We are not allowed to order take-out until the 12 meals that I bought groceries for are gone. That should actually last us three to four weeks if we cook every other day as planned. Plus, I bought the bullshit oven/microwavable foods that the boys (and I ) like to eat for the days we don't cook.
My problem is, before I tossed my chessboard of life up in the air, I was expected to go to work, come home and cook. My ex traveled for work seasonally and was gone probably about 6 months out the year and rarely worked in town. So that means when he was in town not working he would be home all day long but I still HAD to cook. I fucking hate cooking and nobody should be expected to have to do anything, especially if the don't like doing it. I love that Jeremy cooks, I hate the mess he makes while doing it but that is a small price to pay to not have to do it myself. I cook because I like to eat, but being expected to do it made it a burden.

I could take or leave a lot of pizza, but I love this place. We get the Maui or pepperoni often, but they also do a bunch of non-traditional pizzas like buffalo chicken, taco nacho, or chicken cordon bleu. Last night, we had the potato skin, which is so good.
I actually really like to cook, so I will usually do at least one good meal over the weekend (preferably something I can take to work all week), but I rarely want to cook by the time I get home from work on the weekdays.

If we ordered pizza like that I wouldn't mind, but we always order shitty-ass Domino's.

Maui? I assume this means you're one of those commies who get pineapple on pizza. So disappointed in you, dude.

And I prefer "my dude," thank you very much.
For a long time I thought it would be terrible, then I actually tried it. Still not something I would get all the time, but it's pretty good every once and a while.

This. Andrea eats it and I was always anti till I accidentally got some pineapple on my half. It's not bad. Now I'll eat it if she has some leftover.
I'm a meat lover. In the last few years I've started to eat a lot of different things like pineapple on pizza and I'll try anything. I'm almost an adult.
I don't see how people care so much about what other people eat. It's not like it's something that's REALLY important, like the music other people listen to.

Last week, on our last night in Amsterdam, we went to this place called Lucca known for their pizza. I got one with "Tomato sauce, mozzarella, bresaola (Hand sweetened with natural sea salt and dried beef. Speciality from the Valtellina in Lombardy.), truffle oil, parmesan, arugula".
