Hey Texas peeps, where should I get lunch in Austin? Gonna be in bumble quack for a bit visiting in-laws, but flying in and out of Austin and may spend a day or two there.
Edit : RUDY'S BBQ! that's one of the places i went after we went tubing. Rudy's and Ruby's are two different bbq places, but both very good. I was drunk when I had Rudy's though, so not a clue if it was actually good or just drunk good. but I throughly enjoyed it.
rudy's is fine. idk, its one of those things where it's more popular than it probably should be because it's chain/gas station based around texas so theres a lot of name recognition and everyone and their mom and their mom's mom it seems like has a Rudy's cup. but i don't doubt it being heat coming off the river. there's one by my office that i go to every now and then, but i think there is better stuff around. (they do have lean/fatty/cutters choice options for brisket, and most places don't have it separated by that, which is pretty much the best part for me).

It was Rudy's that originally taught me you can order different cuts of brisket.
Game changer.
And yes Esteban, Rudy's is my favorite sauce as well. I like sharp vinegar sauces, not sweet ketchup monstrosities.
Also, Chisholm Trail is fine. Better than most other places in the state, but I never go there since Smitty's and Kruez are right there. I think Chisholm is a little more reasonably priced iirc.
I've never even heard of Kreuz. All this conversation is making me realize is that I should've had more bbq when I had the chance. I was just too focused on tacos. (per usual)

It’s worth a google image search for Kreuz Market Meat. Fwiw, the eu vowel sound in Kreuz is like the word rice so almost crites or whatever. Oh and that prime rib:

Wait, do you mean related like actual relatives? Black's was a client of ours for an advertising project we did in school and I guess the Black brother's split off at some point and one kept Black's and the other started their own business. I'm guessing this is prob that business... I never ate at Black's, though I prob should've since they were a client.
maybe it’s kreuz and smittys that we’re from the same family, I can’t remember. That was the sister or something. And I think Smittys might be the building of original Kreuz. What’s great is that all three are with a couple blocks, so to go get a half pound of brisket and sausage at each of them and maybe a 1/4 or half of whatever is special that day at each place (smoked turkey at any of them is also excellent) makes for a satiating lunch. Do it Jimma. I think we did the lunchtime trifecta 3 or 4 different times and have been down to Lockhart maybe 7 or 8 overall.
Salt lick in dripping springs is worth it for the atmosphere imo
Yeah. I don’t want to completely hate on it because it’s still good. And that’s a cool place though I think Jester Kings might be the best place I’ve ever been to in dripping springs. That place rules and has great beer.

I have never been to Texas aside from layovers, but Jester King does have quality beer.

Right on. I tried the Dichotomous recently. Ingredients were Texas Hill Country well water, malted barley, spelt, flaked oats, hops, grapefruit, red chili peppers, rosemary, mixed culture of brewer's yeast and native yeast and bacteria. That was the bomb. I'd love to get a hold of this recent release...

About a month ago I received a call from a radio station in Sacramento about an internship. They wanted me to do it in the spring semester but I need one for the summer.
So they're like "cool, just reapply in March-ish." Except there's no mechanism to reapply. The listing is just...there and it says there are opportunities year-round.
Is it worth it to contact them and clear things up? They're the only internship offer I've received so far and I don't want to fuck it up.
It never said contacting them will remove you for consideration, FWIW.

I might be missing something but I don't really understand why there would be any problem with you contacting them again to clear things up?

You absolutely should follow up. Don't make a big thing of it. Just a casual, "Hey, trying to reapply. Can you point me in the right direction?"
I'd say there's even a chance they still have your application and you won't need to re-apply. They'll just roll it over into the next batch. Sending in cold call applications always feels really formal but once you know someone on the other end the application stuff always feels like more of a bureaucratic hassle than an extremely important step.

There are some companies that will throw out your application if you contact them again.
They generally state this on the application page.

I'd contact them again, since you've already talked to them once it should be fine. If they threw out your app for recontacting them they are psychos anyway.
Yes. The wolf had some janky pictures in the review that made it seem like it wasn't quite as nice as advertised. As mayonaise said, the bear just felt kind of meh.

Well I like both, but will say that my girl LOVES her owl and it is nice and super cute in person. IDK about the bat, except it is also cute. I personally would probably wear the bat more just because it is black and has red, drappy wings.

We have similar outlooks on the color scheme and wing situation. The owl has wings but the bat has WINGS. I do get abrakapokus's feeling that the owl from winnie the pooh is more my spirit animal due to my hardcore belief that there is no reason to say something in five words if you can say it in fifty instead.
