It is always the day before Ash Wednesday. So, yes.
Oh okay, I legitimately didn't know. I can't keep up with you sinners and your debauched holidays.
Well as the saying goes, in New Orleans it is Mardi Gras, while in the rest of the country it is just Tuesday. But now you know that the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday is ALWAYS Mardi Gras. Carnival starts on January 6 (12th Night or King's Night) and ends on Fat Tuesday. You over-indulge even more than normal and then you give up shit for Lent.
For the record: I don't give up shit. I over-indulge and still don't give up shit. That's all Catholic rules and shit.
i live only a couple hours away from parkland. im still not completely over what happened yesterday. the fucking nra needs to either be incredibly regulated now or, preferably, be completely abolished
Filed my taxes for 2017. Every year, I take my time and make sure I do them right even though mine are pretty simple. Every year, as soon as I hit file return, this is me.
This is how I feel every single time I send an email to a judge.
After I did my taxes this year, I got a form from work in the mail and freaked out a little, but it turned out to not be something I was supposed to report. I got my refund earlier this week. I’m going to spend the whole damn thing on paint.
I don't get that issue with taxes. Probably because I am filled with so much anxiety after waiting until April 14 that other anxieties are hidden underneath the anxiety that I won't get it done on time.
NBF, I feel you on the email thing, though. I send all the emails for the college's alumni office. Like between 5-15 each week. And eeeeverytime I see the little popup of the email confirmation than an email was successfully sent, my heart skips. WHAT IF I DID SOMETHING WRONG?! WHAT IF I SENT THE BOSTON EMAIL TO A NYC DISTRIBUTION LIST?! It has been two years and the anxiety has not faded.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
An American tech billionaire who wants to own his own country and is actively preparing for the downfall of civilization after which he plans to mine the moon for resources before setting up shop on Mars. Seems to explain why he funded Trump: "Chaos is a ladder."
Why do so many bands open shows with a new song? I understand you need to play the new stuff, but why do they insist on putting a new song in one of the most important parts of the setlist?
Several years ago I saw Depeche Mode for the first time on their Sounds of the Universe tour. I'd been a Depeche Mode fan for years, was primed and ready to explode when they took the stage, and they open with "In Chains", the very slow and underwhelming opening track off Sounds of the Universe. Why do bands want to suck the energy out of the venue? Why not open with "Never Let Me Down Again" or "I Feel You" to take advantage of that pent up energy and just completely destroy the crowd, then play some new stuff to give everyone a breather?
It takes time for an established band's new stuff to be accepted, if it is ever accepted at all. I think it's foolish to open with a track that's only been a part of people's lives for a few months, tops. By all means play the new stuff, but don't waste a moment like the first song of the show on it.

It doesn’t help that I have, in fact, made some stupid mistakes when sending emails. Like the time I emailed three judges at once about an attachment, only to immediately get responses from two of them pointing out that I forgot to actually attach anything. That was like five years ago and I still think about it sometimes. The anxiety will never go away for me.

If I am attaching something, I always attach it first. I don't allow myself to get past the words "Attached is.." without having it attached. I am usually pretty good about not forgetting.
Of course, now Microsoft is too smart. If I say certain words in my email that allude to an attachment, it'll come up with a warning about there being no attachment attached.
EDIT: And does anyone else have Office 365? It's causing problems left and right.

I send shit without the attachment all the time. Well, not all the time, but often enough that I try to remember to attach first. My office is like 2011 (it was 2008 when I first started here 5 years ago) and we don't update anything because they are cheap. I am still using CS3 at the office for my design programs. To help understand how outdated that is, I bought CS3 brand new in 2003. I am working with 5.5 at home which I bought in 2011...that shit is old.

What's the most recent? Oddly enough, a quick search isn't telling. Even if I try to buy it, I don't see it. I have CS6 (working in higher ed means my technology usually isn't tooo old, and usually if something isn't updated, it's because I haven't gone to IT to have it updated)

Its the Creative Cloud now. You either pay monthly or yearly. CS6 is about 4 years old now.
I feel so much truth in the aspect of feeling like you have to hustle for every little up. And you do know the limitations of your power the lower you are on the call sheet; it's a reality in the industry that DOES cause unintentional and economically intentional biases.
Wedding planning is so taxing... I feel like we spent so much time talking about plans for it, but we've not actually done any actual planning. We're doing venue visits this week and am hoping to get something locked down by the first week of March, second week at the latest. There is just so much to consider when trying to decide on a venue it's making my head spin. Someone please tell me it gets easier when you get the venue locked down.
I'm also trying to talk myself out of the venue I love because it has no real wet weather back up. It's seriously the most perfect venue I can imagine, but if it rains we're fucked.

We were on such a limited budget that I can't offer much in the way of comparison but I can say that selecting the venue, menu and guestlists seemed like the hardest part. After that it's a lot of little details but the biggest pieces are in place. All of this planning will be a distant memory soon. I hope it's ultimately not too taxing.

Do you guys have a dry season, where it barely rains at all for like three months?

Not a clue, but I'd imagine that's this time of year. However, bc of the nature of our international guest list, we're kinda limited on when we can do this. It seems like the weather in December is pretty unpredictable too, so it really is a 50/50 on rain.

That's what I'm hoping. I feel like the biggest question mark for us is the venue, which dictates so much of the rest of the planning phase. Luckily the guest list is pretty much done, since we're doing it here I know most of our people in the states probably won't make it unless they're very close friends/family and have the sort of expendable finances to make the trip happen. Which sucks, but the bright side is that it's going to be a small wedding.

Is renting a tent an option?
Unfortunaely not. The venue is in the Royal Botanical Gardens, So no marquees are allowed because we can’t strake anything into the ground. There is technically an indoor space, but it’s so small that it’s not a realistic wet weather replacement for the grassy area where we’d do the ceremony & then use as a dance floor.
It’s real purdy tho. Lion Gate Lodge Royal Botanical Gardens Sydney if you want to creep on it!
