But if they did that, they'd actually have to take responsibility for a very minor screw-up, and we all know that can't happen.
Ahhh, you've unlocked the mystery of how this office works! Passive Aggressive management + Irresponsible Blame Assigners = 40 Hours of Fun!
Oh lord, passive aggressive management. The entire office gets emails every month or two asking us to make sure that we don't leave mud in vehicles when we get back from the field. These emails are sent because a small group of 2-3 people consistently leave the floors of some vehicles covered in red clay, and they would rather send out an email about it to everyone rather than going to those 2-3 people and telling them to stop it.
Also, mayonaise, to keep you updated, my admin is currently in the midst of a 4 day (dependent on weather) fishing trip that he decided to go on Monday afternoon sometime. We're currently taking bets as to if he is actually using sick time like he joked or just taking vacation.
I swear, the stories you have about your admin are amazing.
My bet is on sick time. for sure. esp if he just decided to go on monday afternoon.

YES. We get those too. My FAVORITE is when the "Reply To All" button is misused, and EVERYONE gets the additional passive aggressive comments and personal opinions to add on to the original passive aggressive request.
i.e. To: Office From: Mngr 1 - "Everyone, make sure that we don't leave mud in vehicles when we get back from the field." Re: Office From: Mngr 2 - "In addition, we shouldn't be eating in the trucks." Re: Office From: Tech 1 - "Yeah guys, it's really awful to get in the trucks and smell nothing but burritos." Re: my friend From: me - "good Lord. i wonder what these emails are getting billed to. ...also isn't Tech 1 the only person here who eats burritos?"

The biggest one for that with me is that our Nashville office doesn't understand the idea of an office mailing/invite list, so I get invites all the time for meeting that are Nashville specific. It's very nice that the admin for another division that I have never met is retiring, but I am not driving to Nashville for cake even if it is awesome cake.
Anyone have any Amsterdam travel suggestions/tips/advice? I'm in the planning stages for a trip right now, and I'd love to hear some first hand knowledge! Hotel recommendations are very welcome, as I know they can be varied in quality.
When I went we stayed in a hostel above an irish pub, and it was amazing. Don't really know if thats something you would be interested in. Other than that I don't really know how much knowledge I have as my trip was rather, um hazy? My method of travel is different than most as I genenerally walk around until I get lost, look up on a map where I am, then walk some more. I find you find alot of interesting places that way and meet cool people cause your forced to ask for directions. If your into tours and stuff take the canal tours with the boats, and also check out the Van Gogh museum and Anne Franks house. Also check out the park (I don't remember the name)near the big Amsterdam sign. Amsterdam is a beautiful city and people overlook that because of corn useage and hookers. Speaking of hookers I would recommomend checking out the red light district at night (even if your not gonna get one, I never did), you WILL see some crazy stuff there.
All in all Amsterdam was a top 3 city for me on my europe trip (Florence, Prauge being the other two), and you will have a good time.

bogart, How the heck did you get that laughing dog?
I steal a lot of smilies from a college football message board I'm on. They have over 50. That's where I got the faces too.
Ugh, I tagged the wrong person! I thought that laughing dog was like the : cheers :, where you just type it out... I'm going to go eat lunch or something.

I have a problem. My regular barber was all booked for this morning (my only free time during the week) so I made an appointment with someone else in the shop. The new barber is way better and we had much better conversation. Is it OK for me to start going to the new barber in the future? It feels awkward.
Happens all the time. I bet dudes take it way less personally then girls....and girls break up with their hairdressers all.the.time.

I just changed my hair stylist, and I'm friends with the other one. If I can do that, surely you can change as well.
i sent this link to my friend, and she responded with the following (over gchat): yipes um. just um. that's all i got (i was going to say "gulp", but reconsidered due to the topic at hand)

is that the Duck Hunt dog? if so, I have a serious score to settle with him from all the times he mocked my failure to hit ducks at a distance greater than 6 inches from the TV screen.
BillyPilgrim and I have issues communicating not during online games. I was made to read 'Slaughterhouse Five" in freshman year at MT and only recently clicked understanding of his Inforoo handle. D'oh!
No worries. I only recently made the connection between your handle and the mexican dish.
