I'm going to Louisville for a weekend in October. Anything extra cool/fun I should check out? Restaurant recommendations?
Check out Bardstown Rd - nice shopping and plenty of good cafes and restaurants. Having only a weekend means you wont really much time to do the really cool stuff, so instead I'd say just wonder around Bardstown/Downton and see the city.
Best coffee: Sunergos or Java Brewing Co.
Bars I like: Nachbar (great beer) Garage Bar (great beer and food) Zanzabar (good music, arcade games, cool crowd) Mag Bar (dive bar, this is where I played the majority of my DJ sets) Holy Grale (amazing beer)
What kind of food do you like? There are no shortages of places to eat. I can recommend plenty.

Today I managed to casually and without pomp or pretension slip the word "erudition" into a sentence during casual conversation! I think that one is worth at least 10 points if you can drop it into a sentence and NOT sound like a complete asshole!

I need to take out some kind of platonic personal ad, or something.
Wanted: Music, camping, hiking and merry-making enthusiast. Must have a passion for music festivals and shows, art, poetry and literature, cinema, amazing food, wine. Tolerance for late night record spinning, fires and flying hula-hoop head trauma. Willingness to keep track of my finances and do my laundry in exchange for gourmet-ish meals and contagious laughter is a plus. Organizational skills and the ability to plan out hikes will be traded for awesome campsites and free use of my piles of music and books. Absolutely must be willing to live in a VW bus for at least a few weeks at a time. Mushroom, bird and constellation identification abilities will be rewarded with cake. Would prefer a left-leaning, politically minded individual who doesn't mind protesting on occasion.
All A/S/L will be considered, however you MUST love Wilco, MMJ, Ryan Adams and The National. Or at least pretend to.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
Apply quick! I am renting a cabin in Red River Gorge the second weekend of Oct, and camping in the bus and then a cabin in Hocking Hills the last weekend. I need some good hikes and someone to make sure I don't end up chopped to pieces in the woods!
I make some mean fireside stews for fall camping. Worth it.
I forgot to add the warnings. 1) When we ride the bicycle built for two, sometimes I get lazy and you end up doing most of the leg work. 2) I'm not much of a sleeper. 3) I eat in the bed. 4) I snuggle my friends (but I think most of you have already experienced that).

I like all food (but not a huge fan of seafood though my boyfriend is so it's cool if you recommend those). We are meeting up with some friends there, and I'm not sure how picky the other two are. So recommend away!

I'm convinced that the red river gorge is the 2nd best place in the world...right behind bonnaroo!!

That's a joke, btw. Jimmy, you'll get a nice refund this year from the student loan interest deduction. If not, you're rich and you can quit yer bellyachin.

I can attest to #4. Somewhere floating around the facebook is a picture of her resting herself up against my arm within 20 minutes of meeting me. This was after the wine had started flowing but before the best explanation of Impossible Germany ever.

My favorite restaurants are Vietnam Kitchen, Oishii Sushi, and Santa Fe Mexican Grill. You really can't go wrong with those.
Also recommend: Game (amazing burgers with weird meat like kangaroo, bison, ostrich, elk, etc) Hammerheads (same as Game except more menu options and less formal atmosphere) Toast on Market (best breakfast/brunch in town) Bunz/Papalinos/La Bamba amazing late night drunk food, but just as delicious when sober) Havana Rumba/Mojitos (Cuban and Tapas, same owner and food at both but Mojitos is a bit more upscale, the mojitos are incredible also) Banh Mi Hero (Banh Mi) Lee's Korean Little India Cafe Heart & Soy (Asian vegetarian food) Queen of Sheba (Ethiopian, highly recommend it if you've never tried it before)
Like for real. Those are all incredible restaurants. You wont be disappointed at any of them.
If you want a "true" Louisville experience then go to The Brown Hotel and eat a hot brown, then you can head over to the Seelbach Hotel (where F. Scott Fitzgerald was a regular while writing The Great Gatsby) for some bourbon. No trip to the 'ville is complete without bourbon fyi.
Also go eat a maple bacon doughnut at Nord's Bakery, then walk next door to Sunergos for an amazing cup of coffee. Grab a smoothie at Life Bar. Eat pie and ice cream at Homemade Ice Cream & Pie Kitchen .

Hot Brown is proof there is a benevolent creator somewhere; be it a deity or just a really hungover chef. Either way, it is awesome.

I was totally going to tag you there. Your third eye is open.

I'm not particularly road ragey but I was really tempted to put my car in reverse and ram some idiot behind me at an intersection this morning. It's a alright though because I got to make her wait for a good thirty seconds and then smile and wave as she passed me freaking the fuck out.
