You've probably listened to more metal this week than I have in my life. I've only had the urge to get into 2 or 3 times, and it hasn't quite stuck yet. I've missed more than a few classics, which is probably where I should have started. Either way, it'll be staying in rotations this time round. Suggestions from the metal thread have kept me busy and thoroughly enjoying the genre for the first time.

Powerslave is a helluva place to start. I think that was the first Maiden album I heard.

So many gret albums and through all the arguments one can make we can all agree Steve Harris is a GOD. I would have to go with Piece of Mind as my favorite maiden album as a whole.

I'm a Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son/Somewhere In Time guy. Those albums are perfection to me. They're all amazing though, especially the '80s albums.

First Maiden song I ever herd besides 666 was Fear of the Dark live. WOW I was instantly hooked not only by the power of the song, but by the energy of the audience. From there it was down the rabbit hole into the catalog. It dosnt matter what decade these guys are playing in the energy is always there.

Yeah - Piece of Mind. Number of the Beast and Piece of Mind were an awesome 1-2 punch back in my teen years.
Holy crap. Where did you find this? I love it. I especially love how there's like nine different battles going on inside both parts and the whole time, the bass is just pleasantly plodding along like it's a cute little jazz piece.

Mats Gustafsson's cover story in the Wire pushed me to check it out. He has connections/recorded with guys like Jim O'Rourke/Oren Ambarchi/Colin Stetson/Thurston Moore and he did that Neneh Cherry and the Thing album.
