The Tallest Man on Earth The (almighty) Avett Brothers Bon Iver
this could be all they book in this category and I'd be ecstatic.
My top 3 choices as well. Fleet Foxes is up there too as I have yet to see them, and have seen both Bon Iver and the Avett Brothers.
Also, hopefully up and coming First Aid Kit will be booked.
The Avetts are a must. I saw them for the first time at Bonnaroo in 2010 and have seen them 4 times since then. They always put on an awesome show. Anybody heard anything on Tallest Man on Earth? He would be great opening up a tent on Fri/Sat/Sun or maybe playing a set on Thursday around 4 or 5.
I'm loving all of the Josh Ritter love. His Valentine's Day Brawl show was one of the best/most magical concerts that I've ever been to. It was incredible. I've never seen any performer match his apparent love of what he does. The man knows how to put on a show, and his music is DAMN good.
I sent an email to his booking agent today to see if he was going to be there, but so far no response.
Which Valentines Day Brawl did you go to? I went to the one in Philadelphia first and then NYC a few days later. Both were top notch.
I saw one of the NYC shows, and it was euphoric. Whoever said that you'd be head bopping one moment and crying the next was completely right. His live music puts you through an emotional roller coaster. I felt like I was hearing every song for the first time again, and the songs that I never really was too effected by totally broke my heart. We need him on the farm.
As for the Avetts, they are my top band that I've never seen live. Every time I try to catch them, something comes up. They took a break last year, so let's get them back.
Concerning The Tallest Man, I really thought that he'd be on the lineup last year. My fingers are crossed for this year.

With all this talk about how good Ritter is live I think I need to check out his recent live release. I would like to see his wife, Dawn Landes at Bonnaroo as well. She opened for Justin Townes at a show I went to a couple of years ago and I was impressed.
Not exactly folk or even acoustic, but Will Hoge should really come back. I guess you'd call it more roots rock. Little bit of country, blues, folk and rock.
i missed avetts set in 2010 for mumford, so id love to finally catch them. also, please bring back the head and the heart, they were one of my favorite shows last year.
[quote author=rjy09 board=music thread=27235 post=980981 [/quote] Me too. That was the worst conflict of Roo that year. Mumford was my number one to see and Avett was.. probably in my top five, definitely ten. Damn you, Bonnaroo. Damn you.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

That would be ex-wife. But yes, you need to check out Josh Ritter - great performer, genuinely happy and appreciative of his audiences and one of the great songwriters of this generation.

I read it last year and loved it. And I'm not just saying that because I'm a music fan. It's very well written, he's definitely an all-around talented guy. The way he writes is so poetic and beautiful. I think you can really tell he's a songwriter. It's historical fiction too which is one of my favorite genres.
I'm actually a huge reader and read about 2-3 books a week and Bright's Passage was in my top 5 of last year. I'd recommend the book even if you aren't a fan of his.
I had never heard of The Silent Comedy before seeing them in the Direct Confirmation Thread and I have fallen in love with their stuff. I get the feeling that their live show will be a raucous good time. They have a distinct folk feel, but have that drunk Irish pub feel that adds a punch to their music.
After researching the "lineup" so far, I've really gotten into The Lumineers. I think that they'll be one of the big breakout folk bands this year, just like The Head and the Heart was last year.
