I dont think it can be the Mars Volta, because At the Drive-In just got back together and are also slated for cochella.
What about people/bands with food related names? Jeff Mangum is on the cochella lineup. Neutral Milk Hotel was one of the titans of indie rock and gum comes in flavors. Granted its blindly throwing darts, but at least its not forcing RHCP for another post.
TMV is releasing an album this year so it's definitely possible. Jeff Mangum will be in Portugal during Bonnaroo.

let's go with the red hot chili peppers logic for a minute. suppose chardonnay is throwing us a curveball. remember the first clue someone asked if it related to the hall of fame (either football or rock and roll)? maybe this clue refers to that. i like chili peppers as the answer better than my guesses of rolling stones or pixies.
I said the same thing earlier, no one has come up with a reason it can't be RHCP, I think it's safe to assume that Gary would not be confirming a headliner, thus his semi-silence today. I am sold on this. Anyone see a reason why not?

Im trying to find a hole in the TMV guess and I can't.... There has to be a better guess though....?
Just got home from work, cracked a beer and just started trying again. How about Beastie Boys(Teen Titan Beast Boy) with Flavor Flav? Flav has joined them on stage before.
i like the sound of that. hot sauce committee came out last year and i dont think theyve toured since. please be right.
public enemy started out as an opening band for the beasties. quack that would be awesome

I have heard from someone in the know that the Beasties are not touring and that Adam is still sick fwiw.
#1 Warren Moon #34 Earl Campbell #43 Jim Norton #63 Mike Munchak #65 Elvin Bethea #74 Bruce Matthews
Ed Norton shares last names with Jim Norton. Norton is the "name amongst the titans." Ed Norton starred in Fight Club, which immortalized The Pixies "Where Is My Mind?".
The only thing I need is a solid connection with The Pixies and "What's your favorite flavor?" I get that pixie sticks have several flavors, but where is the "favorite flavor" tie in? It's not like thats a slogan of the pixie stix peoples...

Pixy Stix facebook page's second most recent post read "Whats your favorite flavor?"
stretch? im not sure
Dude! Good find.
Edit: not. just saw this page is very unofficial, only 34 likes?. highly doubt it would be on gary's radar. it is kinda weird that the wording and punctuation is an exact match though.
Nah, I'm good. I was referring to the fact that she's busting on his -4 when she's only got +8 in 5 years. Obviously the cool points haven't been all that kind to her either.
Way after the fact, but some dude last year decided to make it his mission to take away a bunch of my points when I said that I didn't like Eminem because he's a homophobic jerk. And anyway, I wasn't busting on him, I felt bad because he was brand new and already in the negative.
Someone friday'd me for the 1st time today. I know, my noob is showing, but it hurts.
To keep it relevant, could the hint it's sometimes crunchy hint to Disco Biscuits.
Biscuits can be soft, bready things or cookies, eh?

That update is from March of 2010, still he could have been looking Pixy Sticks up on facebook for the clue, and read it.

yeah I noticed that... but its one of only a few facebook pages under the name Pixy Stix... i could see gary finding his way there pretty quickly. but youre probably right.
Don't know if this has been mentioned, but the 'favorite flavor' part struck me as possibly relating to Ween, a band with a ton of albums/songs that are food related--Pure Guava, Chocolate and Cheese, White Pepper, and their label, Chocodog Records. Also recorded an album with Nashville (titans reference) studio musicians called 12 Golden Country Greats. Just a thought!

so very true. thats what so titillating (yup I said titillating) about this whole clue solving thing. I wouldnt put anything past gary, this and other theories are so plausible.
For what it's worth-- David Byrne is also the name of a Detriot Titan--a golfer. Also, one of Talking Heads' albums was called 'More Songs about Buildings and Food'--pretty weak connection there, but worth a shot...
For anyone looking into a new direction for this clue, it may be worth trying to look into the actors/characters/plot/soundtrack in Remember the Titans and Clash of the Titans.

Didn't Gary confirm on twitter that it had to do with the NFL? I haven't seen Clash of the Titans so correct me if I'm wrong but aren't they all high school football stories?
edit: whoops again. mixed up gary's tweets. i see that it is not confirmed that it is NFL related. in that case, hmmm you bring up an excellent point

I don't think Gary made any comment about whether the Titans bit refers to the NFL or not. Regardless, Remember the Titans is a football movie, but has nothing to do with the NFL. And Clash of the Titans is a movie about greek gods, or something like that. There was an original in the eighties and a remake just a year or two ago.
