Holy shit, I just got guest listed for Berlin's Berghain / Panorama Bar, basically the most exclusive and hardest to get into underground techno club in the world. I'm freaking the fuck out. Heading there April 9.

How'd you manage that?
I have a mutual friend with The Black Madonna and she reached out on Twitter.
BUT, I'm a fucking idiot, and just today realized that its the same damn night as Moderat in Hamburg, which I've already bought a ticket for. So now I'm no longer going to Berghain that night, cause there's no way I'm missing Moderat.
I'm gonna try to catch her in Frankfurt in May when she does an RA b2b set with Mike Servito.

Yeah, they'd never in a million years let you in absent a guest list spot. Hell, even with it they might keep you out.

Ya know, I think I will still go one night, without a guest list spot, just to SEE if I could get in. I mean, you're definitely right, my chances are slim, but I'm extremely curious, and even if I'm denied I'd still love to snap some photos of the outside.
I love how Sven is so damn concerned with keeping the club "exclusive" and out of the mainstream, yet if you do a Google search, the guy is clearly a huge attention whore and has given dozens of interviews over the years.
@jonesjupiter you coming to Melt! in Germany this summer?
Yeah I'll be there. Wonder if there will be any big additions?
I was under the impression they already ran some additions, but I'll definitely take more. I'll be taking a train into Dessau-Roßlau Fri morning then renting a car to drive to Gräfenhainichen, check into my hotel, then head into the fest.

Personally, I think you're kind of foolish for not using your guest list spot, because it sounds like they pretty much don't usually do a guest list, and getting into Berghain is not something you may ever be able to do. I'd wager any amount of money you can find a way to see Moderat some other time.
It's actually the only Moderat show within easy traveling distance to me that is on a weekend. I'm swamped at my client site throughout the week so I can't go to any shows Mon-Fri. And the more I researched Berghain, it just doesn't seem like a club that would be fun for me to explore solo.

Alright folks, who are some must-sees from this lineup? My top ten right now maceo plex, juan atkins with moritz von oswald, nina kraviz, the black madonna, scuba, Ame, Four Tet, Magda, Caribou, and chris liebing.
Oh. My. God. Moderat live this weekend in Hamburg was mind blowing. I wasn't a huge fan of the new album but the tracks translate much better live. For about half the songs they played they would transition the end and jam out for a few extra minutes. Seeing them with a German crowd was really cool too cause people really appreciate them and don't crowd the front, they all leave space to dance. I was easily able to walk up to the rail at any time, even though there were probably 5,000 people there.

Question:
Right now for Movement, there are two nights where I'm split between multiple parties. What do you guys recommend? -Saturday: Tresor 25 Years with Moritz von Oswald, Terrence Dixon, Regis, and more or Detroit Love with Carl Craig, Dubfire, and Seth Troxler -Sunday: Adam Beyer b2b Joseph Capriarti or Interface with party with Cassegrain and Headless Horseman

Soooo, I got into Berghain this weekend, WITHOUT a guest list spot.
I was in Berlin this weekend just fucking around and I was losing my ass at the casino Saturday night so I decided to go buy some beer and hit up the queue at Berghain around 1AM. Made friends with the people around me in line, 2 young guys from Berlin, a couple from the UK, and 2 girls from Tel Aviv, all very cool people.
We were all making jokes in line that there was no way they were gonna let my American ass in, and I honestly had no intention of getting in. I just wanted to drink some beers in the line and say I tried. So 3hrs later (its now 4AM), we all get to the front of the line, and everyone I had made friends with was in front of me. One by one, every single one of them are denied. They all step out and wait on me cause we had said we'd go somewhere else if we're all denied. So there I am, in the front of the line, my douchebag ass. Wearing some baggy jeans, a black tshirt, and a grey columbia fleece. The 4 bounces size me up, have about a 30sec discussion amongst themselves, then they all defer to the "ringleader" and he pops his head out, looks at me, and motions for me to come in. I couldn't believe it. I had already taken 2 steps to the right, ready to be told no.
If I had to guess, the reason I got in was because I was just myself. There were TONS of "posers" in the line, trying to act "techno", and it was so obvious they were tourists trying to fit in. I obviously didnt care and wasnt trying to fit in, and I guess thats why they let me in. So I come in and they search me down, and stick the famous stickers over both front and back cameras on my phone. Then off to pay my 16euro and get the "berghain" stamp on my wrist.
Enter the club and there's a huge massive coat check, which in reality, was basically a "clothes check". So many people dressed "normally" in line, immediately took their clothes off once inside, revealing leather pants, or just a speedo, or at least took their shirts off. Definitely a large gay presence in the club, I'd guess around 60%. I hit up the first bar downstairs, grab a beer, then head up the massive open industrial stairwell to the main Berghain dance floor. It's absolutely fucking insane. The best sound system I'll probably ever hear in my life, and Ben Klock was throwing down a ridiculous deep dark techno set. All of the bathrooms are "open gender" so girls and guys just mingle in there, and of course drug dealers in some of the stalls.
Headed up the stairs to check out the Panorama Bar but I wasn't really feelin it. No clue who was playing but it was pretty shitty "disco" shit. There's a bunch of what they call "dark rooms" and random swings, cubbies, etc to sit and just relax in with others. I didn't venture down any of the random dark hallways as I was by myself and didn't want to walk in on something I couldn't get away from. Definitely saw some open sex though, mostly gay.
Went back to the main Berghain cathedral and kept drinking and listening to Klock. It's a very liberating vibe inside there. People could be whoever they wanted to be on the dance floor, dance however they wanted, and dress however they wanted. No worries about someone taking a photo or video of you. I could definitely tell some had been there since they opened on Thursday and were "living" in there till Monday. Random people sleeping in corners.
Overall it was a great experience, one that I'll probably never get again. Oh, and here's my stamp as proof, and a photo I took as I left the club around 7AM.
