My favorites were Todd Terje, Mau5 b2b Prydz, Speedy J, Hunee/Ron Trent/Antal, Nico Jaar, Bonobo, Justice, Floating Points, Pantha Du Prince, Ben UFO and of course The Black Madonna.
Edit: I have really high hopes for Nina Kraviz tomorrow, almost forgot about her.

Has anyone seen Paul Oakenfold in the past few years?
I saw he's coming to our local small electronic club and impulsively bought a ticket.
My very first exposure to any electronic music was Tranceport.
I was waiting for a friend, and scanning the radio in the car. I stumbled on Rice University Radio, and they were playing part of Tranceport. Definitely hooked me.
Haven't listened to him in forever, but thought it might be a fun nostalgic time.

I remember watching him on the Coachella stream in 2014 and was shocked he was playing nothing but chart-topping Beatport bangers. I know he used to be quite revered, but not sure how he is these days.
So this girl is a resident at Smart Bar, and I've seen her open up for The Black Madonna, Nina Kraviz, and a couple of others, and every time I've seen her SHE FUCKING SLAYS. I meant to type a review of her opening for Nina a couple of weeks ago but the holidays happened. Anyway, she's going to be playing a lot more shows around the US/Europe this coming year, I would absolutely recommend seeing her if you get a chance. She goes hard and has a fun time up there too. I talked to her after she was done opening up for BM and she was so nice and appreciative that I enjoyed her set, I hope she gets a lot bigger. Here's an interview with Resident Advisor for more background info on her, she has a really cool story.
Also, Smart Bar is having it's annual show to honor Frankie Knuckles, where among others I'll be seeing The Black Madonna, Derrick Carter, and Eris Drew. I'm so excited that this will be my first show of 2018.

I often think Chicago would benefit from more venues like New York, but then I remember Smart Bar's events are usually so well curated and awesome that it barely matters.
Also, thanks for the recommendation on Eris Drew, excited to check her out. Always down for more women DJs.

testpilot (deadmau5) has a new show, holy crap. Incredible.
Details?
Well, during Holy Ship he played two sets. The first was his typical techno/ tech house DJ set, good and all. But his second set...my god. Maybe I just didn’t know what he was playing, but it was 90 minutes of amazing techno build-ups and released. Very progressive as well, but not cheesy. Maybe it was unreleased music of his, I have no clue. But it made me a deadmau5 fan again.
Bummer. If you get a chance to catch him, I highly recommend it.
saw him as testpilot at movement last year
That set was his typical techno set (which he basically played for his first set at Holy Ship), but the second set was something else entirely. No "Solar Detroit," "On/Off" or the usual tracks he plays.

So a non-basic one? lol jk. Good to hear he threw down though, my friend said his Factory 93 set in LA was pretty boring so it's nice to hear he's capable.

Yep, he avoided playing all the usual stuff he's been playing the past two years and went all-in. I'm starting to wonder if some of it was unreleased music from him.
