The NYC show she is referencing is super expensive because it is a charity show at Radio City Amnesty International Presents: The Secret Policeman's Ball, starring Coldplay, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Mumford & Sons, Russell Brand, Reggie Watts & many more.
I really want to go this ::Not a Mumford fan::
Of course you do! It is The Secret Policeman's Ball ;D
They have new material but haven't released the album yet. Some of it's already been posted (Consequence of Sound and Paste have both featured it) and it sounds good.
I mean dont get me wrong ive seen them 4 times but its been the same damn album for 2 years now! I'm over it!
Granted, the past two times ive seen them they have played some new stuff, and Id likely go for $25, but $50 is outrageous. The promoter on this one is laughing all the way to the bank.
First off, there was a presale yesterday and singles available as late as last night. If you haven't signed up for the band newsletter on the main site is suggest you do so for all the info on presales. Secondly, the general sale is an electronic ticket using the credit card of purchase. To get in you must have that CC your ID and entire party. My guess is that scalpers and other resellers are not aware of this. The Ryman has already Tweeted that any tickets bought through the general that are being scalped will be revoked. You might want to keep an eye on their Facebook page etc for more details. Keep in mind that anyone tring to buy off stubhub as well may never get in due to this policy and the presale tickets being shipped so late. Be careful anyone who is buying through a resale site.

The whole thing was paperless, so it legitimately sold out, it can not have been scalpers. You have to have, your ID, and the card it was bought with, no transfers allowed.
One more side note, their are a lot for sale for outrageous amounts of money on craigslist. If you really hate scalpers selling these tickets for 500 dollars you could get the ticket info and details from the scalper and send the info into the ryman so the tickets get cancelled.
I need to get into this show, and I still haven't figured out how i'm going to do it. Something is fishy when every single ticket is sold out at 10:01 for all three nights. I'm hoping something is done about these scalpers.

I am the first to get on to the anti scalping bandwagon, but this sale seems like it was pretty legit, a lot went to the fanclub however. You have to have a id, and the credit card you bought the tickets with to get in. There will be some, but not a lot.

ryman withholds a poop ton of tickets for 'industry'.
The AEG facebook page said that people are flying in from all over the country for these shows. I have no idea why, but there you go. They also said that if you can't make the show you got tickets for, your only option is to get a refund... so I would be very, very wary of buying tickets from stubhub, CL or the like.
I'll be there on Wednesday with an obstructed view! Somehow I'm still excited
I've learned that obstructed views really aren't that bad because 1. You get more room in between the pews and 2. Typically they don't sell the seat beside you so you have more room on the pew itself.

This was quite the interesting show..... To be honest it wasn't as awesome as I was expecting plus Marcus was having a VERY bad night, and I didn't get my 2 favorite songs because he forgot the words and then had a coughing issue I hope the guys who got the following nights get a better show.....
Dude forgot the words on 2 of his songs!?!? He must have been overwhelmed by the group of lovely ladies of inforoo that were there to cheer him on.
Well he forgot the words on Thistle & Weeds and just stopped and didn't play it. Then he started After the Storm and starting coughing so bad he had to leave the stage.... They did 2 songs acapella with no mic which is always great at the Ryman. And Jerry Douglas came out and played with them which was cool also
Yeah, those are my 2 favourites as well, so that was disappointing. It was sweet that he admitted being awe-struck. They really sang & played their hearts out, so I felt I got my money's worth. And I was tickled pink when they covered Simon & Garfunkel's "The Boxer" - that was a unexpected treat.
