Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
How about you start discussing the music and stop discussing other posters? You just complained about negativity in another thread and here you are being negative towards a poster.
how about i realized this is how you fit in here. this obviously isnt a civil peaceful board. its a heckle zone. i just wanna have fun.
It's not un-civil, though. Teasing and poking fun at each other is one way of building camaraderie, one that tends to work particularly well on the internet for whatever reason. For instance, I (like everyone else) like to tease Phi all the time, but do I think he's a bad person or do I want to fight him? F*ck no.
Good response, you raise some good points. I do feel I need to clarify myself again just a bit though...
First, and this is really my main point and my main point all along, you're right to a point, people do make fun of skrillex on here for the fun of it. BUT, they don't hate skrillex for the fun of it. They make the opinion first, and then they have fun with the expressing of that opinion. Just like others support their opinion by having fun with it. I think this is an important distinction to make, and I just thought your original post suggested otherwise, which is what I didn't like about it and the general 'discussion' for months.
Obviously this only works when both parties are in on it, and for the most part that's what has been happening (For example, Phi's been a great sport, and has been retaliating in a similar fashion, which I think is 100% ok). But then again, that's always a very blurry line, so there's usually going to be problems along the way.
On an unrelated side note, I will say this has to be the cushiest/nicest/most accepting multi-genre music forum (that actually sees real traffic) I've ever posted on. You haven't seen music 'snobbery' and 'trollin' if you've only stuck to the hippie music boards.
And with that, I think I'm done rambling for a bit. ;D

Ha! I've never thought about other message boards. I should stay away, I think. The good thing about music snobbery is that, like I said, it usually comes from people who have pretty advanced knowledge of a wide swath of music. Where I live, I can't even get to the snobbery point with my crew because it's pretty monochromatic, musically. So it can be a good thing that leads to new music. I love living in Peru, but man they listen to radically different things down here. Great Cuban and salsa stuff, though. Electronic, no sir. I tried playing FlyLo's Cosmogramma to a buddy of mine and it was like turning on a vacuum cleaner next to a cat.
But, back to the subject at hand, I will check out Skrillex this year to give him a chance. Onwards, to new threads.
I don't think anyone's ignorant here. I think in your heart of hearts, you really gave Skrillex a chance, but you don't like him for this reason or that. I'm not a fan at all, and I have my reasons. What I'm saying is: Inforoo has a regular and predictable habit of letting a guy like Phi know that it hates someone like Skrillex....over, and over, and over, and over again. It's an annual tradition of fluidly mixing love and disgust of music, where most passionate music fans in my life have always been really supportive of other people's tastes without having to make these ridiculous "please don't add so and so" threads that become new venues to trash music other people like. They become dozens of pages of hate and making fans of a certain artist feel really small. Sure, the internet can be a cruel mistress, and that's why I feel like on an anonymous message board this sort of thing is inevitable. But, if some people are allowed to create a whole thread about how tired they get of Skrillex fans letting everyone know about their enthusiasm, then I can have this same conversation annually in a few posts.
You said people aren't doing it for fun, but I disagree. For some people, hating the type of music that they don't listen to, and letting everyone around them know it, is as much a part of enjoying music as putting on a new record, and that attitude is very well represented on this board. Don't get me wrong, I love inforoo and read it all the time, and I've learned about some great bands from people who really know their music, and really, really hate other people's music.
We all have very strong opinions about what we like, but, ya know, it's all about the love, man.

I...I think I like Mac Miller a little bit. Maybe more than Danny Brown, who might be a little too crack rap for me. I just didn't know where else to turn. I figured the Skrillex thread would understand...

Sorry, even braindead Skrillex fans have to draw the line somewhere.

Ha. Please, like the 12 page Skrillex thread needs any more trolling. Based on what I read on these boards, I just was expecting Mac Miller to throw shit into my ears when I watched his video. Instead it was just standard, getting rich, fuck the haters rap. I still won't see it, but I don't hate it. So I guess I lose somewhere between 20 and 35 cool points.
Currently, Das Racist's - Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell syncs up perfectly with Deadmau5 dancing though. Which is pretty cool.
that is one of the funniest fucking things i have ever read. thank you for showing me that site, it will provide hours of entertainment and procrastination as i should be writing a paper.
"Maybe this is the angry 19-year-old kid talking, but I don't give a fuck what people think," he says. "I really connect with people who tell me, 'This is what you've always hinted at, and this is finally you.'"
