Cudi's last set at Roo was one of the most awful, depressing musical "performances" I have ever witnessed.
Omar, you couldn't be more correct. It was horrible. I heard that B.o.B. set was amazing right after Cudi. I missed it to go over to the Crystal Method DJ set (which was really good). But Cudi was a waste of a LN.
Anybody who missed LCD Soundsystem that night was out of their f***ing minds. One of the best shows I've ever been to.

I just cried a little. I think about this all the time, almost too much (ok for sure too much). At the time I just knew a few songs and thought they were ok. Later that year they grew to be one of my favorite bands of all time. And now I will never see them. That show after the flaming lips (fav band) doing darkside looking back is too much to handle. I can just hope they develop the gorillaz (another top 5 band)+murphy into a whole CD.
Flaming lips + Gorillaz + RATATAT + LCD + Radiohead: are my top five so the roo has been good to me the last few years. I hope we can knock out Gorillaz and Daft punk next year so I can die in peace. The puzzle will be complete, except for LCD always lost. Special disco version has helped with the pain though. I hope to see them a few more times.
Sorry I got really sidetracked just needed to get that out, and my sentence structure was not very good (like always on forums).

i'll explain the hate.
his show was short. he just got arrested the night prior so safe it's to say his mind may not have been completely submersed in the vibe. also, he played a lot of a new songs that nobody knew at the time. a popular saying in the radio industry is "people don't know what they like, they like what they know" so it only makes perfect sense for people to be somewhat dissatisfied when like half the songs of his set were songs nobody knew. they were also songs that were going in a different direction than the rest of his set and it didn't fit as smoothly as it could've, but the dvd that has his bonnaroo performance doesn't fit your description of "most awful" and "depressing". i've seen cudi 5 times now and bonnaroo was the weakest, but the man is ON when he's on.
I was at this show as well, and it really has nothing to do with what you just said. I knew every song he played. He was just screaming into the mic. The sound was very off. He played for like 30 minutes. It was far from a F**kin blast. Everyone around me just looked pissed off. It was overall just a very very crappy performance. I saw him 2 months prior to Roo and it was way better, though.

I got to LCD too late, and I was so far back it was hard to get into it, and none of my friends wanted to stay, so I ended up only seeing 20-30 minutes. Luckily, I got to see them when they came through Atlanta that Fall, and I was on the rail for that show.
The Arcade Fire would be tremendous. But they played last year and they're taking a break from touring and are probably working on new material right now. If you see quotes from members of the band they have no desire to preform; just make new stuff. I'm a big fan

I'm not too into LCD but it would have been better. I should have went to FLips.
And wow, you're like a walking, talking infomercial to turn people away from Pearl Jam and Ohio State, aren't you? Before you started posting here I quite liked Pearl Jam and was indifferent towards OSU, now I find myself wishing that Eddie Vedder falls down a mine shaft or that Columbus is infested with locusts

Just putting it here for the record.. I definitely think Danzig and Cage the Elephant will be on the add sheet. As for the top name.. Jack White would be delightful but probably hoping too high for that one. I just hope the top name is something I enjoy.

From what I remember from the Direct Confirmation thread, Deerhunter/Atlas Sound gave a pretty promising answer to a board member when contacted. I would be surprised if Bradford Cox wasn't at 'Roo this year.

sorry to bring this back up, but...
lies. he debuted rev of ev, and that "lift your mind up" song at roo. there's no way you could've known every song he played. everyone around you was pissed? were you in the tent? it was bumpin. hard. the beatz sounded great, and it's called soul when he "screams" into the mic, man. you could tell he was in a zone during the show; and it came through in the music a little, i suppose. but cudi is more an artist than performer. to say it was a "very very crappy performance" is ludicrous. i'll say that the setlist could've been better, he could've left out solo dolo and not have introduced rev of ev to keep the vibe steady, but if you, or the people around you weren't having a good time that's not even on cudi. that's your deal.
and to the dude who said b.o.b.'s set was better... whhhhat? it was corny! it wasn't horrible, i had fun, but it was corny and a bit sloppy considering the setup he had implied a much classier execution. especially compared to what i've seen b.o.b. do. it's like he dragged the show on forever, too.

I just came on here to post about Reptar! So excited for this add!!!
They said to be playing Friday. Will they be a regular addition or a cafe bands addition?
Honestly, I don't know. I guess they would get similar billing to Walk the Moon last year? Although they opener for FTP and then Grouplove so maybe a bit bigger. I would be surprised (though excited) to see them in a tent. Debut album comes out in a couple months.
Murphy and Mahoney are also doing Special Disco Version at Governors Ball Festival later in June.. A Bonnaroo add would be awesome, just because I don't really look forward to seeing him during the daytime at Gov Ball
When I saw Murphy at FreeFest last summer, his DJ set did absolutely nothing for me. And I'm a huge fan of his.

but yeah. KiD CuDi for 'roo '12.
You're obviously a huge Kid Cudi fan who thinks he can do no wrong so there's no use in arguing this point. I laughed at "screaming in to the mic is soul". Yes, the "Beatz" were hard which is why the sound was off. His mic was way lower than the music which is why he was screaming, not because "Cudi has soul". There was nothing good about that show. I went into that show a big Cudi fan (like I said, I saw him a couple months before, and he was great), and left very unimpressed. Maybe I hadn't heard RevOfEv yet but I knew just about every song, so my disappointment did not stem from not knowing the material he was playing. It was because he just did a piss poor job, and I think most people in attendance would agree. I can also pretty much guarantee you he won't be asked back to Roo, because that show was considered so Sh**ty by many.
I shouldn't even ask what you think of his most recent music...
Besides Danzig, I don't know if there will be anymore metal. But this is based off of nothing.
Woah. Wait.
Danzig? METAL?!?!
hmm.
So there was a pretty big difference between additions date from 2010 and 2011. Early March in 2010 vs. mid-april last year. When do you guys think we'll get em this year?
