God they SLAYED. I can't even believe I just saw them. There are still so many more songs I wish they would have played, but it was absolutely perfect regardless. I was dying to hear Infinite Dreams but figured it was a long-shot, but I am really surprised they're not doing Hallowed Be Thy Name. No complaints though. F*cking awesome.
This is roughly what they played. All of the songs are there I just don't remember the exact order. Moonchild Can I Play With Madness The Prisoner Afraid To Shoot Strangers The Trooper Wasted Years The Number Of The Beast Phantom Of The Opera 2 Minutes To Midnight The Clairvoyant Run To The Hills Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son Fear Of The Dark Iron Maiden
There are no words...I feel like I've been wasting my life by not seeing Maiden as many times as possible in my life. I'm thinking about snagging lawn tix for the last show of the tour in Houston now. I'd love to see them in an arena instead of an amphitheater though, but Houston is the only show feasible for me. My friend Greg that went to Charlotte and ATL is also flying to Cali for the back2back shows and I'm pretty sure that he decided to do the Dallas and Houston shows after last night.
Awesome show. I wish I would have sprung for closer seats rather than the lawn. I don't remember the video screens at that amphitheater being so crappy in the past, but they were quite crappy last night.
Excellent show. We had a good spot in the lawn and my first Iron Maiden show was everything I had hoped for. I got to hear all the songs I came to hear. Alice Cooper was great as well. My only real complaint was that the mix was a little muddy at times. Bruce's voice is still amazing. I don't know if I have ever heard a crowd as loud as during Run To The Hills.
Oh yeah, after an incident in the heavy metal parking lot of the ATL show when one of my friends bought a cheap $10 lot shirt instead of the $40 shirts they were selling at the show...when he was looking at the back of the shirt, another friend that could see the front was like "Iron Madden?" fawkin' lolz. Twas a joke, but we, of course, thought this was genious, it inspired this to be made:
Well on Friday Sarah and I left Nashville at 6 pm and arrived at my brothers place in Christiansburg, VA at 2. Got up and on the road by 9 and made it to Bunny's by 1:30. Started party'n and pregamming for the show at 7. Got our heads blown, faces melted, and rocked the fuck out. I was in the pit with Dan and Sarah was in the lawn with Bunny. The ladies had a few issues with a group of 19 year old moshing idiots who knocked them over, and other neighbors, several times. There were some crazy folks in the pit, but all of em were respectful kinda crazy. Drank and . . . and . . . and . . . and . . . til 4:30 am like fucking rock stars with Bunny, Sarah, Dan, and Stand-In Dan out the door at noon, it's 10:30 and were almost home. First road trip show I have done like this, I'm tired as hell, my ears are still ringing, these roads are friggin long, and it is worth every second

I've been to hundreds of metal shows and I believe the pit at the ATL show was the most respectful one that I have ever seen. There was not moshing at all...it was just a bunch of people rocking out, but not moving very much at all. I thought that this was mainly because it was all people from the Iron Maiden fan club. I bought tickets the very first second that they went on sale for the general public and pit tickets along with the limited number of seats behind the pit were not even an option, so I assumed that the fan club bought up all of those tickets. How did you manage to get a pit ticket?
I have also shopped several Bonnaroo's, All Good, Camp Reggae, WSP shows, etc . . . but finally found my first must have tapestry, I guess I just needed some skulls, blood, and British flags to get my attention

As most of you could probably tell... Iron Maiden has never been "my thing", but they were on my bucket list of bands to see. So glad I bit the bullet and decided to make the 11.5 hour drive to DC and back the next day just to see them. Was supposed to be in the pit with Mike, but I'm still pretty weak from being sick so I decided to sit on the lawn with Bunny.
Let me just say that I don't care if you are an IM fan or not, if you get the chance you should definitely go see this show. GREAT SHOW!! Bunny rocked the quack out. She said over and over that IM should headline Roo. I can't say I disagree. A lot of people might be upset at first, but I guarantee anyone who went would come away without a face. Thanks Mike D, Bunny, Dan, and Dan'roo for the fun
Now I need to rest... whew. Apparently we're going to see Def Leppard, Poison, and Lita Ford tomorrow. Another one that's not necessarily "my thing", but I'll get to cross them off them off my See Every Band (at least) Once list
Iron Maiden would be an epic headliner for Roo. I understand people being upset about Metallica but seriously, IM 100% owns RHCP and at least one of the headliners for the past many years of Roo.
