Anybody camping out tonight? I would normally just try to get there early in the morning but I've heard that there are going to be some people camping out tonight at my local store and I know they have only a few of each of the things that I want.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.

I had to buy a $25 membership so that I could get in at 9. The non-members get in at 10. The store I used to go to disappeared and it was so much cooler than the one i'm going to tomorrow.

Sad that is the case these days. My old shop had to let a bunch of employees go this past year. What did they do? Opened their own record store, of course.
Membership dues? I don't know how I feel about that.

It's not a terrible deal. $25 a year and it gets me a percentage off all used vinyl (though I think they hide/don't stock the good used albums. It's always random beat up records or best ofs/imports and the actual albums are usually only found in the NEW section for a pretty penny). Some other benefits too (but not much that i'll use)
The old place I went to was awesome. The guys would let you trade in records and stuff....if you got two used records you'd get a third one free.....the owner was so down to earth and knowledgeable. But that went away and my choices are limited.

Oh I should clarify that when I say the better one disappeared it's not because it shut down. The owner and his wife just disappeared. They had this awesome store and then got a new place and were moving to it. Much bigger and they were going to turn it into a mini-venue and have shows play there. Well inbetween closing down the smaller one and moving to the bigger one they just disappeared. There were a few status updates on their facebook page like "it's coming soon....dealing with permits/building issues" and stuff like that. Then one day their facebook page and website were just gone. It sucks because the place became a real cool place for people to go. There was a ton of press about it around the time of last years record store day.

I'm torn. The store I'm going to is putting stuff on sale at midnight tonight. I'm going to go tomorrow morning anyway but I may try buying stuff that I can at midnight. The real thing that bothers me though is that the whole point behind record store day is to get people to get out and go to the stores.....not just buy things online. It's annoying to me but I'm also part of the problem lol.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
Your local record store sounds pretty shitty, ITM. Sucks the good one vanished.
I'm just hoping that they are smart/nice enough to only put a couple online and the majority of their copies in the store for the actual opening. I'll be pissed if some things I want are gone because people bought them all online.
Man that old store that shut down was so cool. I'd go in and say one artists name and the owner John would tell like 30 minute stories about the history of music and someone just like that person I named but lesser known and better.

Cool.....I may have just misread/misunderstood the store i'm going to. I think they mean they'll put the stuff on sale at midnight after RSD instead of midnight in an hour and a half.
We try and order a TON of each title, but as you know some titles are very very rare and we only get small quantities of some titles. IF AND ONLY IF we have any product left over we will put those titles up online for sale here on this blog at midnight of RSD. Stay tuned!!

I know this is kind of against the spirit of RSD, but I'm thinking of spending the money I had ear marked for tomorrow on the new Spiritualized/Lotus Plaza/Julia Holter records that were released this year.

If you're buying records then you're buying records. I think that you won't be arrested by the vinyl police for spending it on non-exclusive stuff. You're still supporting the cause.
That is unless you just want to buy those albums digitally
Gonna be there when doors open .... Trying for Phish's Junta, Widespread's Live Wood, Gary Clark Jr., Childish's Heartbeat single, and maybe Flips, and not vinyl but Wilco's special edition Whole Love.
A small, free-for-all crowd at my local store. They started running out of the more desirable stuff at 8:04. I was able to bag everything I wanted, though, so I can't complain...
Got the White Stripes, El Camino, and Flaming Lips ;D, the only thing they didn't have that I wanted was Refused, but my friend is gonna check the one in my hometown since im at school
