I ended up spending about $190. The line at Princeton Record Exchange was even larger than last year (when we had 200 or so people lined up before opening), but this year my girlfriend and I were about 70 people deep an hour before opening rather than 150 people deep. I got almost everything I wanted, and spread some good RSD karma around as well (gave the last 2 copies of Feistadon to some funny kids behinds us who would have appreciated it more than myself). I try to do that every time at RSD. Last year I made a kids day by handing over the last Pink Floyd in London albums. I saw him again this year and he returned the favor by handing me the last Flaming Lips Heady Fwends copy!
What I ended up with:
LP's: Flaming Lips: Heady Fwends Leonard Cohen Live at Fredericton Gary Clark Jr. HWUL Raw Cuts Vol. 1 Esperenza Spalding: Radio Music Society JEFF The Brotherhood: Upstairs at United, Vol. 3 Futurebirds: Seney-Stovall (live) They Might Be Giants: The Else (signed by the two Johns)
7": Run DMC/Carolina Chocolate Drops: We Be Illin' Civil Wars: Billie Jean (live) Mynah Birds: It's My Time St. Vincent: Krokodil Regina Spektor: Regina Spektor sings Bulat Okuzhava Flaming Lips/Mastadon: A Spoonful Weighs a Ton Rosie Thomas / Sufjan Stevens: Hit & Run Vol. 1
I also saw They Might Be Giants live and got to meet the two John's themselves!
I'll be going back after payday this week for the Dr. John and Jack White releases.

Had a fantastic RSD, Snagged the White Stripes, Karen Elson, Selevral Sundazed 7"s including the Captain Beefheard double 7", FLips/Mastodon, Fiestodon, Small Faces, St. Vincent, El Camino delux, The Dr. John Lp, Captain Beefheart double live LP, Devo Live double LP, and the TRex boxset.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
Went to the local record store and it was super packed. Noticed the Lee "Scratch" Perry Jungle Dub 3X10 lp set........no one was even eyeballing the thing so I scooped it up not knowing anything about it. Pretty satisfied with my purchase. Also our store had several copies of the Pollock edition of Junta left which I may return later to get if they are around much longer. Just couldn't bring myself to drop the 90 bucks for it yesterday.

My haul ended up costing almost exactly $100, which is the most I've ever spent on RSD. They had everything I wanted, though, and I couldn't convince myself to put anything back. I will be eating a lot of beans this week. Probably next week, too.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

Been a few days. I hit up Vacation Vinyl here in LA. quacking great idea, a line of about 30 at 9:30a. I drove past Amoeba, the line was almost 500 deep. Eff that. Here's what I pulled:
12": Pelican - Australasia (RSD Yellow/Orange/Black Haze vinyl) Pelican - Ataraxia/Taraxix (Euro tour Clear vinyl) Grateful Dead - Dark Star (RSD release) Isis - Panopticon (Half Clear/Half Cokebottle Green W/ Splatter) Flower Travellin' Band - Satori
8": Nick Waterhouse/Allah-Las - Don't You Forget It (RSD split 8")
7": Pelican/Playing Enemy - Split (RSD - Purple Marble) Chris Robinson Brotherhood (RSD release) Poison Idea - Pick Your King EP The Flaming Lips/ Mastodon - A Spoonful Weighs a Ton (RSD pink vinyl) Mastodon/Feist - Feistadon (RSD release)
Only thing I missed out on were: Phish - Junta Dr. John - Locked Down (if anyone has the word on either at face value, holla at a hoodoo...)
I ended up gettin' called in fer work early and couldn't make it out.
Not tryin' to go the eBay route, but I can't find the Chris Robinsonson Brotherhood, The Mynah Birds, or Steve Wilson anywhere else and those were the three I was really lookin' to pick up. Any one seen any or know anywhere else on-line to try and find these?
Our damn store didn't even do anything... EVEN though they were on the list of record stores participating. HUGE let down. I'm glad some of you got out and scored some good albums! Hey is it worth signing up for the Third Man Records "Vault"? Apparently we have 5 days or so to get in on this quarter.
