Bernard Pollard: Put on this Earth to f*ck the Pats.
What's with your avatar, pmo?
Bad luck in this case, in my opinion. Pollard is the one who took the hit.
When you lock up in that tonic phase, like #22 did, that is not good. I agree Ridley was the one who was laying the hammer. Too bad his head hit a brick wall, aka Pollard's helmet and that is what knocked him out. If Ridley does not lead with his head and knock himself out, (next we will be trowing flags at the offense for using their head)he breaks that tackle, and runs Pollard over.
Well, since the Pats haven't won it every year in the past decade, that statement obviously isn't true.
Brady was 10-0 in the playoffs and 3-0 in SB's pre-cheat. He's 7-7 and 0-2 in SB's post-cheat.
I was going to let it go when you posted this once as a joke, but jesus christ flanzo, if you seriously believe that means a god damn thing, i've lost all respect for you.
I suppose I'll live without your respect, then.
But anyone who thinks my previous comment has no relevance is a huge, heaping pile of homer.
Winning a craptastic division every year doesn't make you one of the best ever (just ask McNabb), but cheating and winning 3 SB's (the first two of which Brady wasn't even the driving force behind) does.

Tarnished legacy, sorry.
I'm sure you're aware that after being caught taping defensive signals, the patriots offense started breaking records and the team put up a better W-L record than before? But because of two close super bowl losses that could have gone either way, their legacy is tarnished? Utterly frittated. Not even tom brady can maintain playoff perfection forever
You know what the difference was between the super bowl winning teams and the ones that didn't quite make it? Defense. Ty Law, Willie McGinest, Rodney Harrison, Tedy Bruschi, and Lawyer Milloy. Not some stupid silly practice-taping malarky.
Anyone who crows about spygate should be ashamed to call themselves a football fan.

I'm sure you are aware that they didn't solely tape "defensive signals," that's just what they were caught doing against the Jets.
Their legacy isn't tarnished because they lost two close SB's, their legacy is tarnished because they were proven cheaters and there are things that the league refuses to explain (how far back did this activity go? What precisely was on the tapes?) and can never be checked since the NFL destroyed the tapes (not shady at all).
Where did I say anything about perfection? I pointed to Joe Montana in a previous post, he's not perfect. But he's a better QB historically than Brady was, and when factoring in cheating it's not even a discussion in my mind.
And I clearly know that defense played a huge role in winning those SB's, but are you really so naive to think that Belichick only taped one aspect of practices? Sorry, he devised Super Bowl game plans by taping his opponents practices. To me, that tarnishes a legacy.
Anyone who crows about Spygate has a legitimate gripe because one of the 32 teams in the biggest professional sports league on the planet cheated at least once in a championship game and no one, not the league and not the media, no one acknowledges this fact. Or if they do, they're labeled a "hater" and swept under the rug.
The Pats cheated under Belichick, were caught and it's unclear how many of their 3 SB wins are tainted by the cheating, so unfortunately for you that means all 3 are. And for the record, I wish Rex Ryan would cheat and win a Super Bowl, I genuinely wouldn't care at this point.
And for the record, anyone who condones proven cheating should be ashamed to call themselves a fan. Not someone who thinks it is relevant to a discussion about legacy.
I'm sure you are aware that they didn't solely tape "defensive signals," that's just what they were caught doing against the Jets.
I'm pretty sure you can't claim that they were doing anything they weren't caught doing

Cool conspiracy theory

I never said he was better than Montana, although by the end of his career I think it will be arguable.
The rest of your post is more of the same "BUT THEY CHEATED! CHEATERS!" nonsense. Whatevever they may or may not have done had no apparent effect on their ability to win games.
"I tried it, but I didn't think it helped us" -Jimmy Johnson
I don't "condone" cheating. Cheating is bad. But spygate is overblown to the point of ridiculousness. The only people who bring it up are ignorant trolls. And you, apparently.
Right, I'm the only person in the country that talks about this. Or it was one of the 3 biggest discussion on Twitter in the past 24 hours and the only people ignoring that fact are you and the NFL.
Edit:
Also, what conspiracy? The tapes were destroyed, this is verified information.
I don't follow Joe Shmoe, so I don't know what his conversation was like, but writers for SI.com, ESPN, and beat writers in NYC were all discussing it.
One thing you can't say, emoney, is that taping practices "had no apparent effect on their ability to win games." You have no idea if they would've won the games/championships they won if they had not taped practices because, a)there is no alternate reality that exists in which the Patriots did NOT cheat to compare to the reality in which they DID cheat; and b)we have NO idea which championships the Patriots cheated for or for how long they taped opponents' practices thanks to the NFL's secrecy. So for you to say it absolutely had no hand in the Patriots' championships is bogus.
I'm not necessarily saying it did have a hand, either. I'm saying, knowing what we know as fans of the NFL, there is plenty of room for doubt/suspicion. And to Flanzo's point, if you're paying attention, this taints the Patriots' championships (and, as Flanzo pointed out, since we don't know which ones they cheated for, if any, it taints all three).
And I know that, as a fan of a team (the Chargers) that lost to the Patriots in the playoffs in 2006 and 2007, within the same year that the Patriots were busted, it absolutely makes me wonder if the Pats cheated against us and makes me wonder what might've been if they didn't.
How come the grand NFL conspiracy didn't tell them to shut up?
I never said there was a conspiracy, I said the NFL chose to look the other way when an important franchise that they had built their 00's media campaign around promoting became a proven cheater.
The NFL and the media are not strangers to this sort of thing (Ray Lewis going from "he killed a guy!" to "Preach Ray" is an example). The NFL over time can mold storylines, I don't think that's too outrageous of a comment.
You don't find it the LEAST bit sketchy that the tapes were only viewed one time and then destroyed? If only the MLB could just eradicate all steroid users that easily, people would have already forgotten about Mark McGwire
I hate to take emoney's side but Tom Brady is still the best qb in the NFL. it doesn't matter that his team cheated. it doesn't matter that he hasn't won a super bowl lately. he's still the best.

The NFL didn't choose to look the other way. They penalized a rules infraction and moved on. The patriots haters, being patriots haters, didn't move on, because hey, its the perfect excuse to delegitimize one of the greatest dynasties in NFL history
It's funny that you bring up the steroids scandal. That was actual serious cheating, and yet noone's putting asterisks next to every championship team with a steroid user on it.

That's great, Sang, but that's not what I'm talking about.

If the Pats don't cheat, no one gets to use spygate as "the perfect excuse to delegitimize one of the greatest dynasties in NFL history." Blame them, not us.
Did I suggest putting an asterisk next to the Pats' Super Bowls? No. But people can stop acting like it never happened.

That's entirely missing the point I was trying to make. And there you go again with "CHEATERS! THEY CHEATED! CHEATERS!"
Did I suggest putting an asterisk next to the Pats' Super Bowls? No. But people can stop acting like it never happened.
Saying "THEY HAVEN'T WON IT ALL SINCE SPYGATE" is the equivalent of trying to put an asterisk on it. That was your original statement, and that's what gets me mad when people bring up spygate, not the wishy-washy "stop acting like it never happened" stuff that you've fallen back on because the original argument is indefensible
Flanz is right that the Patriots probably gained an advantage from cheating. But the Patriots are still an impressive franchise/dynasty that quite literally competes for the Super Bowl every single year. So let's take it easy here, Flanz. The Pats made it to the AFC championship game and lost - and it was "underachieving.' If the Jets made it to the AFC championship game and lost...well, you probably wouldn't shut up about how good they are.
Maybe the Pats' lack of Super Bowl victories recently has something to do with not cheating anymore, but its probably more related to their lack of talent on the defensive side of the ball in recent years. Let's be real.
Also, Brady isn't nearly as good at throwing the deep ball as he used to be. The man is getting older, and will have to make similar adjustments that Peyton had to make this year if he wants to remain ELIte.
