If I hadn't lived in Gainesville during Tebow's final two years, including the second National Championship, I would probably hate him. I still hate the constant coverage and I disagree with his religious beliefs on paper. But the guy is one of the only real Christian figureheads that actually follows the teachings of Jesus instead of using them for political gain or hatred. He is constantly being charitable and helping communities. He spends ridiculous amounts of time with dying children and cancer patients and other unfortunate people, and the only reason we know about it is because of the constant media attention and not because he broadcasts it everywhere. He is a great person and a shitty NFL quarterback. Sanchez is a mediocre person and a mediocre quarterback. The Jets are an interesting team to watch. It should be a good show
Regards to Sanchez being a "mediocre person," I have to disagree. He womanizes and parties a little bit (not often), but he also does as much charity work as anyone not named Tebow. I'll save you the details, but suffice it to say he's the type of rich athlete who uses his money to do a lot of good, but doesn't attach his name to it. Stories come out weeks, sometimes months, after the fact about something he'd done, but no one cares because it's the Jets and they need to write negative stories about them, not positive ones.
As for Tebow, football wise they're using him as a wildcat QB, FB, H-Back, personal protector on punts, and probably the holder on FGs. He's not going to be starting at QB unless Sanchez gets hurt. And he is a good guy, and I've tried to hate him for the media circus he brings, but it's hard to hate the dude. He hasn't mentioned faith in an interview since coming to NY (at least not in a Jets-related interview), so I think he's learning about how to be a public figure but not force yourself on people. He's still very young, so it's fair to think he's learning there's a time and place for certain things. Interviews at the Jets practice facility are for football. Interviews with the NY Times are for anything you want.
I just want the Jets to have the #1 defense. Get it done Rexy.

It's very easy to hate everything about Tebow, and very difficult to hate the person Tebow if you take even the slightest amount of time to learn about the kid. And this comes from a Georgia Bulldawg in Athens, where Tebow's name is mud.
I don't hate Tebow, but the attention he gets for being a mediocre qb is what I hate. The Jets made a mistake bringing him in because now you have two mediocre qb's and you created a huge distraction for your team. It's only a matter of time until players start choosing sides.
Ryan Kalil predicts the Panthers will win the Super Bowl this year. Colin Cowherd doesn't think it is out of the question. I hope they are right, but I don't see it happening. I think we can get to the playoffs though

The Pats goin 2 quickest slots out there + 2 of the best TEs out there, throw in a wideout and let Brady toy with the D with 5 wide....magic. Just hope the rookies come in and solidify the D and rings should be ready to return to Bahston this year.

So you're a Pats fan from Knoxville. You just get worse and worse.
He's looked good so far, just be warned that there will be times where it's incredibly frustrating watching a short QB struggle to see over 6'5"+ tall OL for throwing lanes. If he figures out how to find those lanes like Brees does, and quickly, he's going to be good this year.

I am indifferent about the Patriots, but I HATE their fans. And I can't even root for the Pats to fail horribly all the time, because then their mouthbreathing fans would just start yapping about how tortured they are and how there are no more tormented fans than WELKAH NATION and blah blah blah. It's worse than Red Sox fans, because at least the Sox had fans before they started winning. The Pats barely existed.
I actually like Tom Brady because I'm pretty sure he does things just to infuriate people, like ride a razor scooter around Boston Common, or wear a Yankees hat, or endorse Uggs, or pose for GQ shirtless holding a baby lamb. KSK has the "Tom Brady: Troll Genius" meme, and it's absolutely spot on. BRADY AIN'T CARE.
I don't hate the team really, I hate their owner and the fact that the organization can do no wrong in the eyes of the media, while everything the Jets do is a national story.
Bill Belichick f*cked one of his player's wives, if Rex Ryan did that he'd be banned from the NFL for life or something.
The link appears to have been deleted from Deadspin, but yeah, that supposedly happened.
Belichick also was the "other man" in an affair with the wife of a Patriots beat writer, a NJ construction company owner, and the marriage of his current misstress, Linda Holliday. He is scum.

Fair enough. He may be a frontrunner or he may not. Knoxville doesn't have a pro team, so you find a bigger spread of fandom here. My boss is a huge Bears fan. He grew up there but has been living here for 20+ years.

He grew up there, though. He has a connection. I know the history of the NFL pretty well, and unless Keeks over there was born in the northeast there is nooooooo CHANCE he became a Pats fan until the Brady era. None. No one was beating the doors down to buy Drew Bledsoe's jersey and get Pete Carrol's autograph.
Anyone my age that is a Pats fan is likely a frontrunner, anyway, even people from Boston and the surrounding area. I've met few Pats fans my age that can speak intelligently towards the pre-Brady era outside of the year they lost in the SB (which any marginal fan would know about).

I enjoyed watching Meggett play in his Giant days. Ronnie Harmon and him were my favorite third down backs. And Eric Metcalf. It was great when Metcalf went to the Falcons and played WR in the Run N Shoot.
