The thing I hate more than people talking is someone pushing in front of me and then proceeding to not pay attention to the show at all. Happened at Forecastle and SUCKED.
Yea, sometimes if this happens but I see the person who did it is entranced by the show and in love with the music it's easier to take.
On the flip side of things for talking at show......I know it's rare but when you can get a concert full of fans that will be quiet during slow/quiet songs it can really be magical. There was one Avett Brothers song at Terminal 5 recently where it was clear the place was full of fans as everyone was watching and quietly paying attention. Made it amazing.

That's why I could take MOST of the people at Forecastle, since we were in the Roll Call pit, if they were obnoxious it was because they were really into the moment or the song or whatever but didn't have evil intentions.
I think Tom's sister and brother in law were so stand-out annoying because they were very blonde, very tan, very tall, very loud, and very very very sober.

NEVER go to Coachella. This is the rule rather than the exception for the front half of most crowds there.
So annoying. And the people who push their way in are the same people who 5 minutes later push their way back out.
You won't want to ever go to Lollapalooza, then.
Five minutes before Twin Shadow went on(and actually after they were supposed to start but there were sound check issues) a kid shoved his way past me, turned and said "Hey man do you know who's going to be playing?" I'm pretty tolerant of obnoxious people in general, but I was ready to castrate him.
And to somewhat stay on topic, when I saw MMJ over the weekend I swear 1/3 of the venue left to get drinks/go to the bathroom when Strangulation started. I couldn't believe it.

Uhhh. What.
I get that not everyone is familiar with their entire catalog, but I can't imagine hearing that kick-ass intro and thinking "Ah f*ck it, let's go get some more $7.75 Miller Lites." People are dumb I guess.

Seriously. I don't know if you guys picked up on this, but I likes ta gets down at shows. But even so, I'm ultimately there to see music performed, and no amount of stale, sh*tty beer is going to take me away from a good performance. I tend to do a lot of "I buy, you fly" at shows, since I am short-sighted with my finances and would rather soak in an entire song than duck out before a song is over to avoid the mass rush towards the beer tent after it ends.
...okay back to the topic... who is going to Merriweather Saturday? Anyone tailgating?
I will be there with Sassbox and a bunch of the MMJ boarders. We will all be there early for the soundcheck. Not sure of all the logistics. I will find out more tomorrow.
alieblue and I will be there with some friends. We did not do soundcheck and not sure if we're going to take advantage of getting to go in early or not.

We'll be pulling a Bacon for the Pittsburgh show next week- I am definitely getting to the rail for this one and I will follow your advice Bacon, Thanks!
Twice now at MMJ, been surrounded by chatters, pushers, and people who aren't paying attention to the show at all! Really irks me bad. I don't understand it at all. Why go to a show if you're gonna discuss your babysitters and new hair-dos?
Wish I could just fill the audience with all of us (meaning inforoosters)- that'd be a perfect MMJ show!
Anyone going to the Pittsburgh show, PM me if you'd like to rail with us :-)

Well my friends backed out for Brooklyn after hyping up this show all summer. Seriously considering going alone, it's something I've never done before.

Do it! I do it all the time, and actually somewhat prefer it for most of my non-fest shows now. You can focus more on the music and sit/stand wherever you want! It's great. ;D

Funkybuttlovin's friends dropped out too. You two could hook up?
Seeing shows alone is sometimes fine because when you're surrounded by strangers (something rare for me at festivals these days! ), you can have a magical experience that's just yours to remember. There's nothing worse than going to a show w/non-fans and not being able to share the excitement of what you're experiencing as it happens, or to re-hash when it's over.
But if you go alone, you're likely to meet other fans... who become friends... who never let you see shows alone again, thereby creating more magic. Win/Win!
PS: dcbee & alieblue, how did I miss y'all in the VIP pit @ Forecastle? Oh well, at least I got to see you both @ that amaaaaazing sound check under the bridge!

"pulling a bacon" is now officially a thing. From now on on inforoo if someone plans on getting on or as close to the rail at a My Morning Jacket show it must be called "pulling a bacon". Or else.

I go to a bunch of shows alone. Going with friends is fun but then you have to compromise some things like where you want to stand and stuff. Going on your own can be fun because you do whatever the hell you want.

I always worry if my friends are enjoying themselves when I take them to concerts, too. Kind of like when you show someone one of your favorite movies. Ya know?

"THEY MUST LOVE THIS AS MUCH AS ME OR I DONT THINK OUR FRIENDSHIP WILL LAST!"
With MMJ that's pretty much true, but it's because if they don't like the show they probably aren't worth being friends with.
I gave a close friend of mine the "MMJ Test" at Terminal 5. He came to the last two shows after only really listening to Z and a bit of Evil Urges and he's a fan for sure now. Not hardcore but he talks about the shows as being amazing and some of the best he's seen.

But you never saw meeeeeee!!!!!
Will anyone be in Chicago for the show at Millennium Park?
