All you WSP haters can suck one! They have been touring for over 25yrs now and hold the record for sell outs at both Red Rocks Amphitheater in CO and the Fox Theater in Atlanta. They get down and so do the people that follow them. While they are great songwriters they are the greatest cover band of all time and Jimmy Hearing alone is one of the greatest guitar player of all time.
Widespread is a good band, but god they are so 'blah' at festivals. Maybe im just tired of seeing them, but their shows lack energy and all the songs sound the same.
Praying they arent on the lineup... or at least dont headline.

Well keep praying cause at this point it looks like they will be there and as far as the lack of energy goes I couldn't disagree with you more you must of been with the group in back watching everyone else get down. To each his own but I think the record number of sellouts speak for themselves.
Whoever mentioned Alice in Chains earlier- they're going to be at Beale Street Fest, so probably knocks them out of Hangout
Why do you keep beating that drum when there's absolutely nothing to suggest playing at Beale affects being booked for Hangout? The same goes for Wanee and Waka and any other festival that's 4+ hours away. There is ALWAYS overlap with those festivals. Hangout has even shared headliners with them before.

Not that I'd give one damn to see Alice in Chains without the late great Layne Staley frontin' the band, but Beale Street did only have two artists last year to make it down to Hangout- Gary Clark Jr. and Coheed & Cambria. And Gary Clark is a festie junkie. So gophish could be on to something there.

To each his own is correct. Im a DMB fan so believe me, I get it.
But in terms of sell-outs... Justin Beiber sells out everything he touches, doesnt mean I want to see him headline hangout.

I believe thats the only time I have mentioned Beale Street, P-Dog...think you may be confusing me with someone else.
but the other Panic overlap yeah I am "beating that drum" because in my own humble opinion I think there at too many nearby fests to be a great choice for hangout as well..but looks like I am wrong if rumors hold up.
chad- apparently they "like" artists as the book them, according to their inforoo page

There were 4, the two you mentioned by Dr. Dog and Michael Franti. In 2011, the overlaps with Beale were Slightly Stoopid, Flaming Lips, Cee Lo Green, Amos Lee, JJ Grey & Mofro, and The Avett Brothers.
If you look at past Wakarusa lineups, there's even more overlap. My Morning Jacket was #1 overall at Waka the same year they pre-headlined at Hangout.
Wanee and Hangout shared Widespread Panic as a headliner in 2011.
There is NOTHING to prove that playing at any of those festivals rules anyone out for Hangout. If anything, playing a bunch of other festivals makes them seem more likely. That's how the festival circuit works.

Ahhhh, franti and Dr. Dog. Good call man. Missed those 2. Yeah, this is beyond idiotic for me to keep speculating like this. I'm bout to RIP myself. Pablo style. Peace out hippies.
Then who do YOU think will be there p-dog? You have good logic on negating what other people say, who's your top 3?
Are you consciously using the same language I used against mobile? Because that's not a comparable situation, at all. I've been consistently clear on who I think WILL be there. I don't hide behind negation and "insider" knowledge. There's a damn essay on who I think might headline quoted in the OP.
I just got tired of seeing you constantly repeat "Band X will not be at Hangout because they are at Wanee/Waka/Beale," when I've previously pointed out that none of those fests have any bearing on Hangout.

No not conciously using the same language. Didn't mean to offend you man, I thought I was talking only about Panic and I think I never said they "wont" be at hangout, I would say "I dont think" or "probably"...I try not to use certianties since its all just smoke out my ass anyways. Nonetheless- perhaps you are right, but maybe I just don't believe you that it has no bearing whatsoever..if in fact that was the truth, then Shaul might have been interested in PJ, but isn't due to how many SE festivals they have played. Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps. Its all bullshit anyways. Hoping for tonight, but I am really just wasting time on here now.

Ah, ok. Thanks for the clarification. Ill have to go check out who they have liked lately unless someone has that info handy and wouldnt mind sharing.

This just seems like bizarro year for festivals. People keep saying Tom Petty decided on Bonnaroo over Hangout. Seems to me he'll be seen as a letdown for Roo while he's the ideal fit at Hangout. He's played Roo before, his most recent album isn't that new and there's no big album anniversary this year. If no Macca, no Petty, KoL-Muse-Mumford is going to look pretty shitty.

I used to work in the record store. I had everything before anyone. I was there in the Paradise Garage DJ booth with Larry Levan. I was there in Jamaica during the great sound clashes. I woke up naked on the beach in Ibiza in 1988.....
....I hear everybody that you know is more relevant than everybody that I know.

I'm an AIC fan and have seen the new AIC twice, but it's a bad sign for Hangout if we see them on the lineup. They don't fit the vibe and the reunion factor has kind of worn off when you consider the surviving members originally reformed in 2005 and have been touring with William DuVall since 2006.

Two possibilities for the undercard I haven't heard anyone mention Mickey Hart Band and hangout fest alumni the North Mississippi Allstars. NMA plays at Wanee in April but I don't see that as a reason for not being able to play the HO I know they tour in Europe the first week of May and then don't have any shows till July. Possibly maybe?

Edit: ^^^ Skeptical about this one being 90 days...
