Waiting till next week seems like a good idea. Tix go on sale this weekend, so they sell a ton of them, then announce the other headliner and then sell the rest. I don't feel like they will sell out as easy this year, although I could be wrong.
I heard FB was melting pretty hard over the lineup (which is better than last years...) but I can't access it at work. I have a feeling this fest is gonna be amazing once the lineup is complete. All it will take is a good headliner and a couple of good mid level acts.
5/17-19: HANGOUT
5/30- Andrew W.K
6/1- Big Boi w/ Killer Mike
6/13-16 BONNAROO!
6/29- Bob Dylan, Bob Weir, My Morning Jacket, Wilco
6/30- The Grandmothers of Invention
7/19-20 WSMFP
8/1- Mastodon w/ Machinehad
8/7- Melvins
9/5- Iron Maiden w/ Megadeth
9/26-29 Furthur Red Rocks (!)
10/2- The Legendary Pink Dots
11/1-3 Voodoodoo

I have a theory that sales for this fest are exponential to a certain extent. Everyone I know who goes to this fest loves it so much that they want to come back next year and bring more friends, regardless of the lineup. I see many more people adding to their crews than staying home...again, the beach sells this fest. We will see though. I'm very interested to see how ticket sales pan out.

Also, people commit real early to coming back to the fest. They reserve awesome nearby condos before they even leave the fest the previous year. Then, even if they're not blown away by the lineup (as in this year or last year), its like, screw it, I've had this damn condo reserved for a year, its going to be an amazing time, lets do this.
I think the undercard looks pretty damn good right now. Sgt. is right, if we get one great headliner it will really change the perspective this fest is getting. A few decent additional mid-tier acts wouldn't hurt either.

I think I literally said "Screw it! I've had this damn condo reserved for a year. I'm going anyway!" yesterday after seeing the (IMHO) weak lineup. So, you nailed the thought process for me.

That other headliner is going to probably be McCartney or Daft Punk or Bowie. It makes sense that they'd keep their biggest get hidden until after tickets go on sale.

This does make sense - to someone who's been up for a week on an alcohol and pill binge. ...

GTFO, Jugs. I have already confirmed it's Outkast.

I trust your opinion Jugs, who do you think it is and why do you think they have the third headliner announced after the rest of the lineup?

Regardless of the third headliner, I think this lineup is great. They seem to have not spent all their money on headliners this year. The undercard blows last year out of the water- and with the possible 5th stage inside hangout that makes things even better (I am not really one for the xbox tent- but even some acts are going to bring me there this year). They're going more in a 'Roo direction with the diversity, and I like that
I don't know about y'all but I personally enjoy a lineup with a good number of bands I genuinely don't give a quack about to be on the lineup- otherwise I'd have to make so many choices once the schedule comes out, and I am not good with choices. Good number of bands I have seen, and still some bands I haven't that I am excited about. I think I can say without a doubt the crowd is going to be much better this year, and thats a positive as well.
We still have the Thursday pre-party lineup as well, and if they bring the contest back we could get another good "up and coming" name. Not to mention we have some LEGENDS out on the beach this year and that is sick.
Just my opinion of the lineup, and if anyone hasn't seen Anders Osborne- go. Hopefully he comes out with The Revivalists, who always blow me away.
Daft Punk seems highly unlikely...http://www.nme.com/news/daft-punk/67989
Macca or Further would be at the top of my wish list, but both are still a stretch.
Someone believed Juggs was serious? Wow, ok, didn't see that coming. If I ever get involved in a pyramid scheme I'm coming here looking for suckers investors.
Anyone else book already? I booked Phoenix suites west (not to be confused with some other phoenix place that was 5 miles away) which is .5 miles from the beach. Should be an 8 minute walk and it was cheaper than their travel packages with 4 people.
Got a few condos booked at Ocean Reef. Ballin' set up, right on the beach, about a block away from the festival itself

Chaveznwo, we don't have a third headliner because Hangout's original third headliner either backed out or turned down their initial offer and are still in the process of negotiations. Jugs opinion makes no difference in this matter. That is what happened. Most of us with half a brain are 95% sure that original headliner was Mumford & Turds.

A few? Play on player. I might be sleeping in my car so I can come, but I'm not mad atcha.
I hate the hate KoL gets on this forum. Only By The Night was a fantastic album, even if it was a departure from their earlier work...but they were already moving that direction with Because of the Times. Tell me "Closer", "Be Somebody", "Manhattan", and "Cold Desert" are bad songs.
It is just standard procedure here. Band gets on the radio....> hate. But if you're on Sirius, then massive love. Just ignore those that base like/dislike based on mainstream appeal or whether their 12 year old cousin likes the band too. Either the music is good or it isn't and whether x or y person likes it doesn't change how it sounds to me.
Not exactly primo real-estate but the econolodge over the bridge isn't bad. It was like $500 total for the weekend, and you can get about 6-8 (depending on how comfortable you wanna be) people in a room..about a 10 minute drive, easy to bike

Wow, screw that!!
I like being able to check out main stage acts from my balcony. It's so nice being able to relax in the shade, drink my own booze and listen to music in the brutal hours of the daylight.
I like being able to run back to drink booze, take naps, drop a deuce, whatever. It's so convienent. Overpriced but worth it.

Well, it looks like I'm sitting this one out unless the 3rd headliner and additions change some minds. This is usually a compromise festival for me - it's always been on a convenient weekend, and I've always had friends interested in going. But apparently everyone I know hates this lineup.
Oh well. This frees me up for another festival this summer.

Availability of those rooms tends to be pretty limited. You were lucky to get in on that years ago, but just finding a reasonably priced place in walking/biking distance is fine for most of us.
Considering I got a $50 black Friday ticket, once costs are split between our group the total cost of my 4 nights in Gulf Shores & ticket will be around $200. Of course there will be added expenses, but that is hard to beat for a weekend vacation pretty close to home and an awesome music festival experience. Especially when tickets will cost most people more than that alone.
Yeah man it's not the best possible place but I couldn't afford a $300/$500 a night place and most were sold out. Like I said, not primo but its better than sleeping in your car. This time I'm staying at a friends down the road and we've got another friend with a condo overlooking the venue so I'm just lucky enough to have a free place to stay an a free place to chill.

I still like KOL but I've accepted two things: 1) That they're terrible human beings and 2) Come Around Sundown was a train wreck.
The majority of the board didn't like their show in 2010 but I disagree. I thought it was excellent. I saw them twice and the first time was terrible, so maybe my expectations were low, but I truly felt like they owned at Roo 2010. That cover of Where Is My Mind was a crazy Roo moment for me.
I'll never understand why they play Molly's Chambers so slow live though. It's a rockin' tune on the album and they make it so dull in person.

I'm a huge KoL fan but i'll agree on both points. I did, however, meet Jared and Caleb on separate occasions at bars out in Nashville. While they weren't overly friendly, they weren't weenieheads to me. Then again all I did was say "Just wanted to say I loved your set at Roo...one of the best shows i've ever seen" and they seemed grateful.
I want to like them because I really enjoy their music, but with all the stories i've heard its very hard to. And yes Come Around Sundown was a huge letdown.

Come aroun Sundown rocks. Wtf y'all talkin bout?
It was very mediocre. It was like they couldn't pick a sound and stick with it...they tried some weird southern rock-alt rock hybrid and it mostly just fell flat. There are 2 or 3 songs on that album that I really enjoy...the others are forgettable.
I truly think they made that album just to try to shake the poppy reputation "Only By The Night" gave them...but they didn't really think things through on which direction to take their sound, just that they wanted to sound different. And yes i'm pulling this all out of my jerkstore.

Because of the Times is my favorite KoL record, but I actually enjoyed Come Around Sundown. Youth and Young Manhood is great, Aha Shake Heartbreak is very good, Only By The Night is a good record once you get past the whole shell-shocking of the style change.
Like I've said before, until I saw KoL live, I couldn't stand them. At all. Now, after the Wharf show (which I thought was amazing), they're one of my favorite post-90's bands.
04.13 - Designer NO NO WORD!!! / Dieselboy
05.03 - Black Keys / Flaming Lips
05.28 - Hall & Oates
06.13-16 - Bonnaroo
06.19 - Black Flag
10.25-27 - MOEMS
All of this KoL talk got me to check them out for the first time since Roo 2010. I'm remembering how good they are and the years I spent listening to their albums. I never heard the newest one but enjoyed everything else, including Only by the Night. I think I let myself become jaded from all the hate they get and forgot the music. Quack, now I kind of want to see them at a fest again.
"In the darkness hundreds of glowsticks streaked the air like tracer shots in war. Giant inflatables bounced over dozens of light sabers pointed skyward. Stuffed animals impaled on sticks danced above the hot crowds, puppeted by someone just given ecstasy by a friend made seconds before."
we got pit for KoL at Roo in 2010. I liked their stuff, especially the older albums a lot at the time and I thought the hate they got on the board was semi-unfounded. We ended up walking out of the pit early. Their show is just so boring. Cool music, some really good albums, but just not a very good live show.
