My friends and I are super excited about Hangout. And I mean SUPER EXCITED. That written, I pop on here sometimes and want to hit my head against a wall. Repeatedly. Can't we get back to the talk about the music and the beach. ...
I'm down... Did some nerdwork for scheduling. These are specific dates listed by the acts themselves (and obviously Friday dates can be misleading, but this is what I've got)
Friday: KOL, TAB, Passion Pit, Grouplove, Toots (in VA 5/18, NY 5/19), Revivalists, Zion I, Anders Osborne Saturday: Black Crowes, Sheepdogs, Delta Rae Sunday: Porter Robinson (@3:00), Galactic, Dirty Projectors, Shovels & Rope, Colin Lake (noon, BMI Stage) No Date: Jim James (May 15 in Seattle FWIW), Steve Aoki (bizarre leak said Friday? so WTFK), Space Capone in Lexington, KY 5/16
Ultimately, not much.
Thank you. Crowes on Saturday would lead me to believe Petty is as well, solely based on the fact they have toured together and are a good match. All depends on who the third HL is though, I suppose. If it's "HUGE" like some people have claimed it is going to be then that would make sense for it to be KOL/Petty/???
Looks like Bonnaroo biznatch slapped Hangout back into place. Damn.
I think they destroyed everyone, not just Hangout.
Bonnaroo is one of the top 3. Hangout can't compete. However, when the beach is your backdrop, you've got a damn fine festival. I guess I'm spoiled, though, as I'm going to both.

True, but it was well-known that the two fests were competing for artists and it seems evident that Bonnaroo won that battle (probably should wait until HMF lineup is complete but Macca and MumSons are two glaring examples).

Interesting...
So you're saying HMF went for the exact same top line as Roo? I'm no promoter, but that seems overly ambitious. Lucky for them, they didn't strikeout on Petty.
Whatever, we'll be there with our party pants on regardless.

Well, the good news here is that Hangout probably won't be sharing TWO headliners with Bonnaroo, so Mumford is likely out as the fuzzy band. And that's good news to me.
I'm a hip kid (hipster bro hybrid) i kno about yolo and skateboarding and music u guys r squares on the computer looking down on md but lol it's ok i won't give u a beer at are tailgate (which will b the top tailgate @ roo) we have 500 Jell-O shots

To me as well. Not really über over the top excited about bonnaroo. Going to Lolla this summer and I think they will share much of the undercard.

Reid, what do you do for a living? Kind of reconsidering my life choices here. I need to get off the net and be somebody, and I might as well model myself after a winner like you.
Thanks man. I actually quit my job today so I can work on my post count 'round here. Trying to reach OG status by summer.
Hellz yea, Wanee>Jazzfest>Hangout>Roo> attempt to save money
You should focus on that Tame Impala show. I know thats all I can think about. Kinda...
Got Dark Star Orchestra tonight....first things first!
GATH is the best sound of small venue I've been to, including HOB NOLA. Super stoked! We're gonna get drunk at Terrapin Brewery before the show Saturday.

Got a friend possibly floating me some tickets for GATH tame. Got mine for tabby, but I'm really hoping that the ath show comes through as well. Duo de twang is coming to t-west
I'm very happy today. I was extremely disappointed last year when Hangout's lineup was essentially "Roo-lite". This year, aside from Petty, Lamar, and Passion Pit; the two fests are very distinguished. One has Pretty Lights; the other has Bassnectar...which I love. Having Petty at Hangout just means I don't have to stick around Sunday night at Bonnaroo, which is great.

That T West show will be sick, but I'll be seeing them at Wanee that weekend

Tomorrow is a week and we haven't heard anything from HMF about the 3rd headliner or any other acts. I think all that Stevie Wonder talk was garbage but we will see. Still hoping to get some good ole fashion Widespread Panic at the Hangout they're just what the lineup need. Anyone know when we might could expect to hear anything?

have the rolling stones been ruled out? hearing things from people who don't get into the festival scene but live down at the gulf. not a "source" as you guys call it, but rumbles are getting louder. take this as you will, but I'm just curious if they've been disproved. and no I'm not searching through 116 pages of this forum.
Rolling Stones have been ruled on account of insaneability and the fact that Coachella didn't get them. No specific "source" ruled them out, but in all of my infinite malarky wisdom, they're not happening in any possible way.
widespreadted- I'd be stoaked to see Panic there, but with Trey, Mule, moe. and the werks they may already have jam bases covered. If they add panic then they're pretty much a jam fest, which I am totally cool with.
Hangout can recover by adding a reasonably acceptable headliner plus at least six or seven solid undercard bands.
For example: Headliner+WSP(2Sets)+QOSTA+Avett Bros.+Yeah Yeah Yeahs+OCMS+MGMT etc.
I think that would give the perception a big bounce back.
Just wishful thinking though.
They just need one outstanding headliner...and Stevie Wonder, despite his legendary status, ain't it. With Stevie, they're going to have to add a couple good mid tier acts. Hell who am I kidding...the fest sold out in two weeks last year. They'll do just fine regardless.
