Who said the other shared headliner was Mumford?....
It could be Macca.
This is pure opinion, but I doubt it's Macca because it would completely ruin what could be a profitable year. Looking at this year's announced lineup plus that guy's additions, the perception improves at a reasonable price and they can start turning a profit versus taking a huge loss by adding Macca, those additions and current lineup.
Oh jeeze. I forgot. Edit- in my opinion I do not consider dmb a jam band therefore, for me, there's more and better jam on this lineup than last year. Supa specific
Wiki: In his October 2000 column on the subject for jambands.com, Dan Greenhaus attempted to explain the evolution of a jam band as such:
"At this point, what you sing about, what instruments you play, how often you tour and how old you are has become virtually irrelevant. At this point, one thing is left and, ironically, after all these years, it’s the single most important place one should focus on; the approach to the music. And the jamband or improvisational umbrella, essentially nothing more than a broad label for a diverse array of bands, is open wide enough to shelter several different types of bands, whether you are The Dave Matthews Band or RAQ."[10]
DMB also won a Jammy for the best DVD one year. So I wouldn't say DMB is the first name that pops into my head either but, it's open for a bands genre as usual ... cr****
String Cheese, Umphrey's, Dispatch. Regardless of quality or personal preference, the jam roster seems in line with years previous with regard to quantity.
So I was out at a bar in Nashville last night and the DJ started playing Sex on Fire by Kings of Leon, and I started to get pumped thinking about how i'll be seeing them on the beach in 3 months. Shortly after the song ended, Jared Followill, the bassist of Kings of Leon, walks right past me. I, being the drunk idiot that I am, spasmed and blurted out "Holy shit they just played your song!!". He turned around and acknowledged me, and you could tell he was like "Who the f*ck is this guy?" but he was friendly and a good sport.
I went up to him later and said I was excited to see them at Hangout, and we started talking about that for a minute. They are pumped for the show, and Hangout in general. Nashville is such a crazy city...I love living here.

I'm really stoked to see them too. Just to see if the performance is even better now that Caleb got cleaned up. That Wharf show two years ago was still awesome even though you could tell he was a bit blasted. The musicianship was great. First time I had heard anything over than the singles (going into it I hated them) and hearing the old stuff pre-OBTN and even the newer stuff live made for a great show. I'll never forget the craziness of it either: it was lightning so they had to take everyone out, we made it back in time after the announcement that it was okay to go in to catch the last 3 songs of Band of Horses, then KoL blew my mind, then after the show, my friend's car got hit by a drunk lady in the parking lot and on the way home I got my first (and only so far and hopefully forever) speeding ticket.

Yep...I told Jared that I wasn't even really a fan, just like you only having heard the two singles, going into their Bonnaroo set...but that they completely blew me away and I immediately listened to their whole discography the following week. I told him I was extremely excited to see them again now that i'm a big fan, and he was really appreciative. I'm glad too, because I had heard multiple times that they're all huge assholes and I wanted them not to be because I enjoy their music so much. Met Caleb before as well and he was friendly too. God damn I can't wait for May.
I'm baaaaack.....and can say pretty sure Franti will be at every Hangout forever if he wants to be. Got key to the city at last years fest...
Really thats all you have to say? Your suppose to be some insider and all we get is "I'm back". Any info you have to share please go on.[/quote
Can't help if you think I'm an insider....never claimed to be here to drop top secret info. Just saying Franti is kinda the Hangout ambassador and Shaul loves him and the positivity he brings. And yeah, great guy to have for first timers, kids, etc. Damn fine person as well.
I do wanna ask this though....out of my own curiosity...those who have been to HO in 2011 and 2012....what do you think of the site layout changes? What worked, what didnt and what would you like to see?
Firstly Pablo, I've streamed your station several times since the HO announcement and your programming is light years better than anything we have in the ATL...as good as wxpn or kexp imo.
As for HO changes, I thought everything they did last year was better....much more elbow room everywhere, shaded portolets, better scheduling....i do think there should a bar/tower/shade area at both beach stages instead of just the one in the middle. ....
So many of the challenges of most fests are simply overcome by beach/condo/restaurants...

Everything was definitely better in terms of the layout last year. I do wish they could get us inside the festival faster, standing in that line in the sun on the concrete is brutal. Bonnaroo does a much better job of getting everyone inside Centeroo.
I hope the vibe is better this year. I don't know why but I wasn't walking around all ecstatic and stuff last year. Maybe it was all the cops, maybe all the amateur fans, I don't know. Wasn't as magical as 2011 or 2010. Didn't have that Jazzfest or Bonnaroo vibe, that vibe that says "this festival is comfortable with itself and its identity, and everything is going to be awesome". Does that make any sense to anybody? I mean I still had a great time, but it was just missing an energy.

I went in 2011 and 2012. While I enjoyed the layout changes in 2012, I was a bit upset with the VIP area at the Chevy stage. I hope they fix that to give VIP a closer viewing area this year.

Off topic- has anyone seen passion pit? I'm going to Seattle in a few weeks and them with Matt & Kim are kinda one of my few options to catch a show, but don't wanna spend $40 for a shite show. I'm not much of a Fan of their new album, has anyone seen them on this tour?

I saw them last fall. They put on a good show, but for $30 I felt ripped off...they only played an hour. I did enjoy it however.

If you haven't seen Matt and Kim before then it would be completely worth it. Passion Pit by them selves aren't worth that much. They do put on a very good show, and I felt that Matt and Kim were better. Together, I think they are worth the money. Better yet, catch a cheaper show and see passion pit at hangout; and see MAtt and Kim at Lollapalooza(be very surprised if they are not on the bill).
