I can't see DMB getting anywhere near what Macca gets. Macca is at least a million more, maybe 2. I'd bet Muse is a little more than RHCP, mostly cause RHCP was doing SO many dates last year, but I'd agree they are comparable. Mumford is likely a good deal more than Jack White.

I would be surprised if Muse was more than RHCP. Muse was 4th billed at Lolla in 2011, RHCP was 1st in 2012. Muse hasn't really spiked in popularity since then. I agree that Mumford is likely more expensive than Jack White by a good bit, but I was thinking the gap between RHCP and Muse would balance it out. No arguments on DMB vs. Macca.
I couldn't agree more with you man. We stayed in a hotel, and every morning the maid would knock on the door (around 9 am- we were asleep) then open the door, which would be chained. She did this every morning- disregarding the "dont worry about it- you dont have to clean the room" sign. She'd let the door slam and exhale loudly (one morning it was a muffled yell). I don't get it, we were making her job easier giving her one less room to clean.
People look down upon the fest, thinking we're hardcore wooks, but really Hangout is filled with custies and bros. Take the GS population down to 'roo or even worse, waka and they'd be praising the patrons of hangout. They're not used to seeing this kind of activity, and think that everyone in there is just spun beyond belief.
I say get involved in the money making. Buy some waters at Costco and slang' em for $1 outside the grounds, get a carton of cigs and sell em cheaper than the $7 ripoff they are inside. It is all really silly. Hotels sell out and each room is like $300-500/night. They're making profit margins for half a year in one weekend, I don't really see GS as such a gigantic vacation hub at any other time.
Is KOL off the radar? They'd be cheaper than Muse and RHCP, especially after the little meltdown...they've been off the map for a while, might be a nice affordable big namer (even if they're not as relevant as they were in 2009)

Two notes:
1)The GS area is more a short trip destination for regional people than it really is a vacation spot sans the major weekends like memorial and Labor Day. That brings out some Yankees, but otherwise it's a chill locale.

Jane's Addiction is at that Bottle Rock fest out in California, billed 5th behind the 4 headliners. The dates are May 9-12, so they would have time to get to the Gulf. Their price has probably dropped since they reformed, might be a cheaper possibility. They were apparently booked at Hangout in 2011, because some of the web banners that went up after the announcement had them listed. They were billed 4th between WSP and The Black Keys.
Does anyone know why people think that putting band requests on FB's wall does anything? Its the stupidest shiz to me. "please book _______! I will be so HAPPY!" I just don't get it. It's so late in the game, and I really don't think that Hangout cares if this person will be happy or not. It makes no sense. Then you get this chick "I cant wait to see which bands are lucky enough to be on the lineup" wtf is this nonsense? Also, asking for an almost identical lineup as last year. NO. DMB will not be returning. Why do people post shiz like this? What do they think they are going to gain from this??
Had to rant. Maybe you feel the same way I do, maybe I am a moron.
Had to comment on this. I am totally with you. I'm particularly irritated by the ones asking for Lumineers. Hey A-holes that probably love the Grammies, you could have seen them last year front and center if you were paying attention and got up early. You snooze you lose.

I think Furthur is more likely than Jane's Addiction. We could be totally wrong about TAB. We just assumed that was what we were going to get because we initially heard Phish gonna be there but then TAB was added to summer camp and narrowed the chances of getting phish down to nothing.

I slept through the Lumineers. I regret it. Oh well.
Man that Napa Valley list is sick!! I would love to see Black Keys, Zac Brown and Primus all at the same fest. Lot of good undercards id like to see to.

Maybe, but then there isn't a "rock" headliner in the top 3.

Worked their show at the masquerade in Atlanta. You missed nothing. 0-10 most boring shiz ever. Every time he would get some energy built up in the crowd and have a little momentum he would stop and go "you feel that? Lets just stop and feel this for a moment" so terrible.
Janes Addiction or Furthur would be dope. Or both and have mum as 4th slot! I can't see tem dragging it out past Tuesday. Pablooo where you at with the intel my man!

It was definitely a fun show. It was very empty, I was right up front. They played some Bob Dylan and generally had a good time on stage. The crowd was so small and relatively subdued that the energy couldn't get going, so we went and listened to the rest of the set in the hammocks next to the overpriced bar.

Those Hammoks literally saved a few of our friends lives. That and the "Catch a Chevy" deal. We were down the beach a little and every time but once we were able to get a free ride down to the gates in one of those chevys. Plus, many of the girls driving those things were smokin hot and very friendly.

Primus is playing that fest I linked above and that is the weekend before hangout. I could see Furthur, Jane's, Primus, and maybe even Bad Religion, Rodrigo y Gabriela, and Andrew Bird playing hangout.
