April 12-14th - Indio, CA - Coachella Weekend 1
May 3-5th - Memphis, TN - Beale St. Music Festival
June 13-16th - Manchester, TN - Bonnaroo
July 12-14th - Louisville, KY - Forecastle Festival
August 2-4th - Chicago, IL - Lollapalooza
September 27-29th - Atlanta, GA - TomorrowWorld
October 25-27th - Asheville, NC - Mountain Oasis
That has nothing to do with it. WSP is coming back from hiatus. They're Bonnaroo's house band whether you like it or not. Personally, I would prefer Phil & Friends.
Are there any rumors of Petty touring besides the 2006 headliner coming back rumor. You know that guy meant Phil right? He's actually playing a couple of weeks before Bonnaroo. Sorry folks, logic wins this one.

At some point they need to freshen things up. Theres only so many quality jam closers. Petty would be a great transition i think, and sci played late night which in '11 (sat i think). A move like that could really give sunday a kick in the ass. Or even a jam band closing the which, if its not a phish/dead/dmb size band. But if you have a macca, mumford (or?), petty situation avail, i think you take it, why hold petty out for wsp at this point?
Macca - Petty - WSP is never gonna happen; Roo isn't going to make it's top 3 HLers all older groups. I think most of us can agree that the "mystery" second spot in the Macca - ? - Jam scenario that we are getting will be a newer/popular act.
Potential Candidates: -Mumford (despite how much this might disappoint people) -Kanye/The Throne (also adds genre-diversity) -Bjork (this is debatable, as outside diehard music circles, she isn't that popular) -Jack White (if he were to do a one-off show) -Black Keys (they're playing Jazzfest, and, unless I'm mistaken, have yet to be ruled out) -Pearl Jam (with new material)
*assuming YYY's, Phoenix, and Blur are not Roo-HL status

"Great transition" was my first thought, but a strong statement. They could very well go back to jam Sunday next year, but if Petty is true i think he'll satisfy for a sunday closer. Both young and old crowd alike.
I talked to Papa Steve a little more in depth via PMs about his source, and I absolutely believe he is telling the truth and have a hard time picturing a scenario where his source got some bad information. I'm pretty sure Petty and Wu-Tang will be there, guys. I really, really think Petty will be our Sunday headliner.
