Wow, thanks for the response, that was a great. I'll check out those links tonight or tomorrow when I have more time, but you basically reinforced what I ha pieced together myself (only with more actual examples and facts).
I always wanted to tell the idiots commenting that "Pssh, if our best athletes cared we'd beat everyone in soccer, too."
Team USA basketball thought they could just throw together 15 super-athletes and win. Then a bunch of people most NBA fans never heard of from Argentina kicked their *ss. I've always been a believer that a well coached team with incredible timing and chemistry will beat a more talented team that's a lot of isolation and me-first type of nonsense.
Average player comes out as gay, then retires. At 25, he's way too young to be hanging up the boots. He easily could keep playing on in the MLS or lower leagues in Europe, but he must feel that he wouldn't be able to keep his personal life removed from his career. Too bad really.
EDIT: this tweet sums up my feelings rather well.
Eddie Pope, who played in three World Cups for the United States and is now the director of player relations for the MLS Players Union, tweeted: "@robbierogers Brave men like you will make it so that one day there's no need for an announcement. That day can't arrive soon enough.#Support"
Interesting article that draws from anonymous(!) player sources to paint a not entirely flattering picture of the Klinsy era. Some of this is akin to spoiled kids complaining to their parents about their high school coach because he isn't giving them the playing time they desire.
I think the third and fourth spots in the EPL are going to come down to the final week. Spurs can help decide their fate after tomorrows match against City as a win would put them ahead of the Gunners by a point with five to play. Chelsea is the most likely to get in, but they have the toughest remaining schedule.
As a spurs fan, great great results today. Spurs and chelsea both have a game on arsenal and both should win easily. If they both do, then arsenal errol be in fifth, spurs fourth, and chelsea third. Chelsea have the toughest remaining schedule as they must face spurs, united, and everton in their final five. Spurs have chelsea and four easier matches. Arsenal has united and three easy matches. It's anyones game
