I tried to google SANGSMOM last year because I actually thought they were a band
Welcome to the boards. Hope you stick around and have a great time here. I'm also so happy that you (and probably many others) tried to google SANGSMOM. My favorite thing about the joke was seeing websites post the lineups with Sangsmom included. So great.
The loved bands you don't get thread prompted this. But I actually like Drake. I don't actually choose to listen to him, per se. But I don't mind him. If he were on the farm I'd be sad if he were a proper headliner, but I'd go see his set. I don't understand the Drake hate. Maybe it's because I grew up watching him on Degrassi, idk. But I like me some Drake from time to time.
I have done nothing at work today, except staple the contracts I am supposed to be filing, drank coffee and hung out on the boards. After the week I had, I don't feel guilty about it either.

Here's a big one: I never listened to anything from My Morning Jacket before following this board. Still not a huge fan (they're slowly growing on me), but Jim James is a great musician and I can understand the appeal.

The important question is: Have you watched Okonokos? It's one thing to hear them play but watching how awesome they are helps too. Oknokos should convert anyone. If it doesn't then that person wasn't paying attention.

I'm in the exact same boat.. Just wait. Someone here is going to suggest Okonokos. I still don't get it.
edit: see, ITM already beat me to suggesting it... I haven't watched it, only listened to it.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll be sure to give it a few listens and maybe even purchase the DVD (it's only about $5 on Amazon.com).

It's important that you listen to it from beginning to end. No shuffle bullshit here. The songs work in a way that build up. Starts off a little softer/slower and then starts rocking. It's a great, great show. Now I may go home and watch it/listen to it while doing stuff.
after drinking margaritas all night I came home and danced to tune-yards all by myself in my apartment. like, full on danced. no half assed head bobbing.

When my roommate is gone, sometimes I blast "The Long Goodbye" by LCD Soundsystem and hardcore dance for a good song or two

Yes. Dancing by yourself in your house is the best. Drunk or not.

this is why living alone is the best. your roommate is always gone.

My roommate is my 16 yr old. He just shuts the door and ignores me. I'm teaching him to do what you do, regardless of what anyone else thinks. And if you can't be yourself, be Batman. I think I am doing parenting right...

sang_xcx's Mom got mentioned in a joke. Then SANGSMOM got mentioned in a mock lineup, but not on Inforoo. Then folks wanted to know what kind of music SANGSMOM played.

My first two CDs purchased were the Pokemon soundtrack and Rob Zombie's Hellbilly Deluxe.
The first cds I bought were Nevermind, Dookie, and Smash (the offspring). I was ~9 years old and had to sneak the naked baby past my mom at the checkout. I paid with my $2 a week allowance, which means it probably took me like 6 months to save enough to buy those discs.
but I totally had a River of Dreams and Kriss Kross Cassette a couple years before that.

I don't remember what my first CD purchase was (I remember my first record), but I do remember sitting on the floor in music stores as a teenager, digging through CDs and listening to ones that I thought I might want to buy. I miss doing that so much. Kids don't know they are missing out on.

Offspring - Smash and Bush - Sixteen Stone were my first two.
I remember listening to Smash in my room, not knowing some of the upcoming lyrics would be "you stupid dumb-shit, goddamn motherfucker!". Needless to say my dad wasn't too happy to hear that blasting out of my room. To my parents credit though, they never tried to censor my music. They talked with me about how things like that weren't appropriate, but I got to keep the CD. I refrained from playing that song in ear shot of them though

yeah, I didn't know that part was coming either, and I got a nice lecture about it as well. and 16 stone was definitely in the next "batch" of cds I bought. I was lucky that my dad listened to a lot of the modern stuff, and not just "classic rock" so he was pretty cool about stuff.
Vieux there was a music store near my house that had a giant listening area for cds (and cassettes!) and I had such little money as a kid I would spend hours in the store listening to stuff trying to decide what I wanted to buy.
