I don't get them, It's not that I don't like them because they're too mainstream ( I didn't even realize they were mainstream) I just don't really understand what they big hype is over them.....whats the best album?? someone change my opinion!!
I seem to be in the minority that thinks the first album is faaaar superior than the second. I enjoy the second album, but did not enjoy how much softer it is than the first. I love the catchy upbeat peppiness of the first album.

I wouldn't know... Tonight was my first listen to any Vampire Weekend. First time I heard a single song was when I put the needle down, but I plan on getting the self titled too

I was under the impression most people agreed with you. I know I do, though Contra is pretty great too.
They are both great but the self titled is better IMO that 08 performance was memorable for me though so I'm a little bias. Definitely no sophomore slumping with contra though
I'm pumped for the new album but if they go to roo this year I'll be certified thrilled
This. I think more people who are on the fence about VW are turned because of their live performance than either album. From what I've heard people have a blast live.

Maybe I read too much into reviews when it came out. It seemed like they all said it was better than the first. It made me feel like I was in the minority.
They just posted some tour dates, nothing conclusive but I'm guessing they'll be on the farm.

I liked the name Lemon Sounds better. The double Vampire thing is a bit much. Looks like they're going to be all over the place this summer, so it's looking good.
i'm really hoping for Vampire Weekend. I love both albums; tough to choose a favorite. Although, i think Oxford Comma is my favorite song. A couple years back Ryan Adams posted a video he made of himself covering this song on his Facebook page. It's really cool.
