I saw Kendrick in November at a tiny theater in West Virginia. He is my favorite rapper right now by far, but I wasn't blown away by his show. He only played for about an hour and his song choice wasn't great. With that being said, I would still be more than happy to see him again

I had a bad spot for Kendrick so I chalked up my lack of enthusiasm at his show to that. It was hard to see anything and I ended up moving out of the crowd. It was packed.
I think with the current material from Good Kid, plus if you give him a childish type slot from last year (about an 1:15 to 1:30 on which stage) I think he'll deliver a good show. I agree that his perfomance last year, along with song choice, could have been a lot better. But he has more weapons at his disposal this time around

I think good kid was that good( no pun) that if he preforms the majority of that album it would be a great show. that album has definitely built him a more casual fan base so you would have more people who knew the song which would create better energy.

I was at a small Chicago rapper's show about a week ago. And when the DJ was doing sets in between acts, he played a lot of Good Kid and the crowd went nuts for a majority of the songs. I can only imagine how Swimming Pools, Don't Kill my Vibe, and Maad City would go over with a crowd like roo

If 50 Cent played the full album GRODT I'd have to catch at least some of that set. That album was played nonstop in people's cars during my high school days.

And honestly, I could care less about hearing his new stuff
One more thing to end this Roots debate, can we just have The Roots play that time slot every year? There is no part of me that would ever get bored with seeing them every year at Bonnaroo, pre-headliing either Friday or Saturday.
Yeah honestly Black Star isn't that spectacular live. I saw them at Roo and a couple months before at the House of Blues. Not all that energetic or charismatic on stage, just 2 INCREDIBLY gifted MC's performing one of the greatest hip-hop albums ever made and being very on-point with all their rhymes. But if you aren't a huge fan of the work then I could see not being to into the live show
But The Roots... HOW can you say they're "not energetic"?! That was the most bumpin' hip-hop show I have ever and will ever see, and I was at Jay-Z at Roo 2010 and Watch the Throne last year. But that Roots show was the type of show where even someone who doesn't listen to hip-hop would have an incredible time at. There were even 2 of those in my group. Black Star I understand to an extent but to say that The Roots "went flat" is just deplorable.
it wasnt that they werent energetic, theres just something about their show that didnt keep me intrerested. i will admit i saw a previous show on palladia where they brought out jill scott and a lot of special guest that seemed more fun than their bonnaroo show.
bon iver and red hot chili peppers were also let downs for me. maybe because im not a big fan but thats not an excuse to me b/c radiohead blew me away easy. other artist i wasnt a big fan of but were really good or blew me away were fiest and gary clark jr. Sbtrkt was amazing but i already saw them so i expected it. to be honest if it wasnt for radiohead melting my face (in the pit) i would have been very let down for my first bonnaroo.

So you liked Gary Clark and Feist, Radiohead and like the Roots on another performance, but not the Roo performance?
When 50 came out during Dre's set at Coachella I wasn't really sure how I felt about revisiting "In Da Club" honestly. I was like ok, I guess we're really going to do this.

GRODT is one of the best rap albums of our generation. That being said, In Da Club is probably my least favorite song off that album.

Agreed. Too bad it likely won't happen. I don't think 50 would allow himself to be booked and NOT be a headliner. I could see him saying "So Em and Jay got to headline...why not me?".

He's not playing a day stage set when he can go to any country around the world and sell 50,000 tickets or something ridiculous. His international fame far exceeds his fame in the US now.
I do appreciate following him on Twitter, tho. He retweets girls trying to tweet their vaginas to him for all the world to behold. I'm sure their dads are proud.

Think it just reminds me of bad (cheesy) spring break experiences from the early 00's that I'd rather forget more than anything. That era of my life is riddled with douchebag beach parties and Lil Jon screaming on top of practically EVERYTHING.
I was able to meet both Snoop Dogg and Ludacris during those adventures so at least I got that.

I never in a million years expected to hear something like this come out of your mouth.
Sproat was right, you are suspect.
I'm sorry, but it is. Also realize that by "our generation" I basically mean anything after 2000 (should've clarified that), so the majority of quality hip-hop is not included in that statement.
It's hard to look at that album by itself, since everything else Fitty has put out basically equates to trash, but that album was all around quite good.
I also used to wish I was a thug, so that may sway my opinion.
Well if the 50 Cent thing was just to incite discussion, here's another subject to do the same. If the Black Keys were to headline one night, how good would it be for them to do the superjam with very special hip-hop guests ala their project Blakroc. If Wu-Tang's there, RZA's involvement with the project may get other members to participate. Mos could always be a very special guest as well (that's a little more of a stretch, but still). Thoughts? Would that even be able to happen if Black Keys headlined? would they turn around and put them in a tent for the superjam?
