Here's my two cents: Jodie Foster delivers an undeniably good performance in this movie, but her voice doesn't match her face and it was distracting. I was wholly satisfied by how it developed and ended. Lastly, I had no idea that Leland Stottlemeyer from Monk was Buffalo Bill. Also, "Whoa!" is justified. There are many historically popular films part of the seemingly collective unconscious I have not seen. Godfather, Titanic, Shawshank, etc. I'm working on it.

Fun Fact: The second-shortest 'Best Actor' Oscar-winning performance was by Anthony Hopkins for this movie, he had less than 16 minutes of screen time.

I have also never seen Silence of the Lambs. Or Shawshank. Or any of the Godfathers in their entirety, in one sitting. (I've probably seen all of them but only ever catch half the movie at a time.)

I can't believe people like you two exist.
Haven't we been over this? I feel like we've been over this.
Edit: and like Nicholas, I plan on working on this soon. Probably after I graduate...

Enjoy. I picked up The Hannibal Lector Collection (Manhunter, Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal) a few months ago mostly because it's the only way to get Manhunter on Blu Ray, but also instead of buying the standalone SOTL Blu Ray which was over half the price of the collection I bought. The movie holds up incredibly well, and I used to think Manhunter was the best Hannibal movie (which I'd say it's second best at this point, still), but Silence of The Lambs is an absolute classic and paved the way for many, many crime dramas since. Top 50 favorite film, for certain.

I loved Shawshank as a kid, and I love the "Rita Hayworth and..." short story even more. Truth be told, haven't seen Shawshank in almost a decade... don't know why, maybe I feel as if I know the movie and story more than well enough. I really need to watch it again. I almost get this feeling in the back of my head that it may be overrated a tad... what, was it the number 1 highest rated IMDB movie for a while or still is? That just seems silly.

Nah it's not overrated. Watch it again.. I recently rewatched it and it's just as good as before. It deserves #1 in my opinion. Not that I think it's like totally the best movie ever made, but it's definitely worthy of the #1 spot.

It's one that doesn't get old for me. I usually watch it at least a couple times a year.
i would say give it a little while longer, it has picked up the pace IMO. but in case you haven't noticed i'm pretty much a sucker for anything scifi/horror/fantasy etc., so i may not be the best judge. lol

I'm doing my best to more effectively cross movies off my list, but there are just so many supposedly brilliant movies to watch. Also I'm just gonna say that my excuse is being young. I've done a pretty good job of it over the past several years, but there are always outliers, I guess. Monie and I are working on it, alright Dave?
I imagine this is gonna come up eventually anyway, so I'm gonna dump part of my list of movies I've never seen just to show you all how far behind I really am. No shame! Some shame to follow: Point Break, Jurassic Park, Lolita, Spartacus, Rear Window, Brazil, Terminator, Jaws, Sin City, Sixth Sense, Pan's Labyrinth, Die Hard, Scarface, Raging Bull, Amelie, Alien, Leon: The Professional, Goodfellas, Shawshank, Godfather, Saw, Edward Scissorhands, Schindler's List, Apocalypse Now, Dirty Harry, The French Connection, True Romance, Saving Private Ryan, Sophie's Choice, As Good As It Gets. I'm just gonna stop. Way more shame than I anticipated. Most of this list looks like a twelve year-old just got a fucking VHS player for his birthday in the '90s.

And I'll add Apollo 13, Sandlot, Citizen Kane, Pretty woman, Steel Magnolias , any of the Indiana Jones movies, Mighty Ducks... among a few I'm just gonna stop. Way more shame than I anticipated.
