You're just too young to grasp how stylin' I really was. All the boys wanted to do me when I was 5. Actually the girls did too. My haircut was confusing.

Now the question of did he choose them to be a winner? Take the easy route to get Kobe off his back, or just go after the money (he'll be saving about the same he coulda gained from signing with LA) [Oh yea and saving probably a huge sum from child support payments in the state of TX)? Ill go with C. The dudes a softey and a drama queen for being one of the best big men in the league. You cant build a team around him he has to be the cherry on top. And even with that if they system aint right he'll cry about it and mentally check out for the season.

Hey quit ruining this moment for me !
I think $3000000.00 just got in the way. Now he's taking the insurance policy route. Stack money as quick as you can isn't a good sign that he's gonna be %100 again. Big man with back issues is a problem. His numbers slacked and everyone blames the system but he might be worried his injuries will get exposed in Houston.
Speaking of problems Sixers pick up a good balling Forward... who's afraid of planes... 'oh:Now to get rid of Thad and call it a rebuild
Why even play the season? Just give us the championship.
It must be nice to get the big fish in free agency. Hopefully D12 works out better for you than he did for his previous employers...
All these dominoes fell while I was in the mountains, cut off from cell phone or internet connection, so it has been nuts seeing all the moves that had transpired. Iguodala was going to be a King when I left, so seeing him on GS was a big surprise. What wasn't shocking is that Dallas, once again, missed out on the premium free agents on the market. Seems like the only big name left out there is Monta Ellis, and he's no gem.
I'm pretty ok with my HornetCats getting Big Al, and I get the feeling he might be a fantasy stud next year. If he has another healthy year then I wouldn't be surprised if he leads the team in scoring and rebounding. Good players on bad teams tend to produce great fantasy numbers. Hopefully that will also translate to the win column. Maybe then Jordan will feel compelled to keep a coach longer than a single damn year.
I'm surprised teams are trying to go after Andrew Bynum. I understand he's a 7footer and when healthly a top 5 center(which really isn't saying much in 2013). But if people want to hate on Dwight for his immaturity then I wonder how those same people feel about Bynum? Anyways I don't think Bynum is going anywhere just surprised that teams are pursuing him.

I think Cleveland wants him, but I think they, wisely, want a short term contract to see how he is, mentally. Cavs could be a solid team next year if they land him, and he plays. They've made some solid additions so far this offseason.
LOL @ the D12 haters. He's the best center in the league.
LOL @ you, didn't you hear Shaq say he is inferior to Andrew Bynum and Brook Lopez and Marc Gasol and any other center not named Dwight Howard? If there is one analyst we can trust, it's definitely the totally reasonable and unbiased opinion of our man, The Big Shaqtus. Get with the times!
Marc Gasol, Andre Drummond, Serge Ibaka, Jo Noah (who I f*cking hate), Roy Hibbert, Greg Monroe.
I really hope you're basing some of these picks on future potential, and not current skill. If you would rather have Andre Drummond or Greg Monroe than D12 right now then you're be doing it wrong.
Outside of that, this list looks pretty defensible. Surprised Chandler didn't make it on this list since he has the same skill set as D12 and Drummond but can actually hit a foul shot. Plus the whole Knicks thing.
I'm not a homer, despite what other would have you think. I love Tyson as a player and love the way he'll yell at anyone on the team (Melo included), but he's limited offensively (the fact he shoots nearly 70% doing only dunks, baby hooks and layups is amazing to me) and he's starting to break down physically, which sucks.
I'm obviously taking Drummond on potential. He's a 19 year old kid who just posted an 8 & 8 in 20 minutes of playing time a night on a horrrrrrrrrrrible team with no point guards.
I think Drummond in 2 years is one of those "holy f*ck how did we not see this coming" forces in the post. the guy is a pogo stick that's built like a redwood tree. And I hate Uconn, just in case anyone thinks I'm sucking off a Huskie because I like the school or something.
so I was saying in chat last night and not getting any agreement at all... isn't what Howard did a humungous bitch move? isn't he the biggest prima donna athlete ever? that only cares about anything other than the actual game of basketball and winning? why do people not hate him even more than Lebron? at least Lebron's move was made in order to win and Lebron actually cares about the game and tries to become a better player. and just bottom line, winning.
At this point I don't think Drummond is sneaking up on anyone. Analytics in basketball are blowing up, and that's where he really shines. The fantasy BB folks have been raving about the guy all last year, bemoaning his lack of playing time and pointing at his per-36 stats as a sure sign he will break out given the opportunity. This should be the year he gets that chance.

How is going to Houston not about winning? Houston with Howard is clearly better than the Lakers with Howard.

Advanced NBA statistics have been around for over a decade. Basketball is one of the few sports where the standard stats tell most of the story, especially for big men who play primarily on the interior.
Fantasy folks aren't who I'm referring to, obviously. Your average NBA fan doesn't care for fantasy (which is why it's a FAR distant 3rd in the fantasy world) and Drummond is still seen as a project player, even though he's primed to post a 14/10 next year.

Oh sang... You continue to be wrong .. I think if Howard would have stayed in LA then you could argue that he only cares about things other than the game of basketball. I mean the dude left 30Mil on the table and the 2nd biggest market. Whether it was a bitch move or not is completely subjective so I can't argue with you on that. The fact that he left the Lakers shows me he cares about basketball then off court things (Money, commercials, glamorish lifestyle ect). The Rockets simply have more to offer than the Lakers do on the court. The only reasons I heard for Dwight to stay with the Lakers would be because its the "Lakers" and their history, and they wanna build a statue for him in 20 years. All off court ego driven reasons. You know what the rockets have to offer? 23yr old All star who's only getting better, Chandler Parsons who's progressing faster than anyone thought he would, a coach who is willing to adapt his game plan according to Dwights abilities, and Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon agreed to work with him on a consistent basis if he came to Houston.

I just believe he's a malcontent that's not going to be happy wherever he goes. they're not going to win in Houston. He wanted out of LA because he wasn't the focal point, he couldn't deal with Kobe pushing him to be better. he ran away from that and the potential to be a lot better in LA. and like you said it's the LA Lakers. name anyone else's ever turned down the chance to be the star in LA. just seems to me like he left just to have the spotlight all on him, he doesn't care if we wins or not. but like we discussed last night, this isn't going to be his team either. they may feed the post more, but they have Harden, that is going to be the man and take the shots when it counts. how long before Howard wants out because of that and runs to Milwaukee or some shiz?

I think you're misrepresenting a lot here, Sangry Man.
Howard took an unathletic and slow team to the finals in Orlando. Seriously, go back and check that team out. It's awful. They built a team that complemented their best player perfectly, and he/they thrived.
Howard never expected to be the focal point of an offense run through Kobe Bryant. He left LA because Kobe is a psychopath who belittles his own teammates and will openly tear into whoever he f*cking pleases because he's Kobe Bryant, essentially a walking gold statue in LA. His game and Dwight's do not mix, which is the main reason for all the friction there. D'Antoni is too much of an *sshole to adjust his scheme to fit his players properly.
Teams turn down the Lakers every season. It's not every person's dream to play in LA and be under that microscope. Same logic could be said for New York or Chicago. The "...it's the LAKERS!!" logic is useless, Sang. Modern athletes care less about history and more about branding/success and...money.
The spotlight won't be "all on him," either. Are you unaware that one of the top-10 NBA players currently in the league is already there? Harden runs that team, Howard will be the happy-go-lucky manchild in the middle. Again, this "he doesn't care if he wins" stuff is bulllllllllllllllllllllsh*t, Sang. Houston was the 8 seed (tied with LA) and are a young team. They're rising while the Lakers are old as dirt and breaking down. You'd seriously pick the Lakers, who have only one player under contract for 2014 (Steve Nash) instead of the Rockets, who have built a young roster that's locked in and going to grow together? Then you're an idiot.
Howard doesn't WANT to take the last shot, Sang. Do you watch basketball? Dead serious. How many low-post centers take the final show when they can only dunk or do baby hooks?
Just stop, dude. Howard picked a better situation for more money with better chances of lasting success. And somehow that's a bad thing in your view.

maybe it's not about the spotlight as much, because he's running from that in LA. he doesn't want every part of his game to be scrutinized all the time. in my opinion he doesn't want to be better. he just wants to do what he does. he wants to be the man, but without the scrutiny and pressure. tejas is looking at it from a different view. saying that he turned down 30 million because he wanted to win. my opinion is he's so selfish that he was willing to turn down 30 mil just to get out of that pressure in LA. Houston may be a better team than the Lakers, but idk. I think healthy Kobe/Gasol is better than Harden/Howard. Houston may have a better young nucleus around. but I seriously don't believe that he cares about any of those things. it's just all about him being comfortable and in control. a lot of the people on talk radio were saying a lot of these same things yesterday. some people that were preofessional athelets, are like seriously, what is this guy doing? who does that? as far as this move goes. we'll see how it works out, but I don't believe they will win and I don't like the guy now.

The Howard situation goes both ways. Houston does have a brighter future, at least the way things stand now. But I'm sure part of his decision was affected by the fact that he felt wanted by the Rockets, where as, it felt like the Lakers just felt obligated to pursue him, to an extent.
Marc Gasol, Andre Drummond, Serge Ibaka, Jo Noah (who I f*cking hate), Roy Hibbert, Greg Monroe.
I'd agree with this whole list, except, maybe, Ibaka. He can do some great things but I'm not sold on him completely.
Well, I guess people could argue Serge is a PF, but's the same height as Dwight and does play a lot of center in crunch time, so I'm including him.
He has a much better shot than Dwight, is a better shot blocker (yeah...I said it) and is much less of an obstacle on the offensive end in general.
I think Dwight is marginally better, but I would probably take Serge'e gazelle-like build for the foreseeable future at 23 years old than Dwight's creaky body at age 27 with bad shoulders.
He could never do anything like this in a playoff game (not yet at least) but I still love this highlight. Ibaka is one of my favorite players, and I would love him to become a consistent offensive threat. He's kind of like Bizarro Chris Bosh in a way.
I think you're misrepresenting a lot here, Sangry Man.

I'm actually a big fan of Howard's decision. He was looking at teams based out of cities like Houston, Dallas, and freaking Golden State. If Howard had to make this decision last year, he would have chosen the Lakers in a heartbeat, but I think he learned something this year. I feel like he's been humbled a bit, and he really needed that. It's also important to note that Howard chose the best halfcourt team of the bunch. He knows that when the game slows down and works through post, he's at his best.

^ Sometimes I feel that is intentional to spark heated debate. We had a couple of good ones here at a local station for awhile, but the radical right wingers ran them off the Or for more conservative talk.
