I regret being on sabbatical for so long. My participation around the boards this season will probably be sporadic, I've got a lot more going on than I did this time last year and have a lot less free time, but I plan to contribute however and whenever I can.
Probably still a little premature to be sending out mass emails and tweets, but who knows. Love the effort.

Just glad to have you back
I've been here in spirit.
You couldn't feel me rolling my eyes to the Kanye debates and discreetly suggesting Portugal. The Man is better than everything?

Just sent out Tweets to Cage the Elephant, Imagine Dragons, The Vaccines, Vampire Weekend, Trent Reznor (regarding How to Destroy Angels), Kaiser Chiefs, and Two Door Cinema Club. I'll post again as soon as I've heard back from anyone.

I'm sure the majority of those bands wouldn't have heard anything yet. But hey worth a shot
You don't think?
With the lineup drop around 2 1/2 months away, you don't think they'd be booked by now?
Last year we didn't really get information until December really but there is a possibility of those bands being booked. It's just a little earlier than we did it last year so we'll see.
I'm sure they are in discussions with the headliners and they are close to being signed, but I'm guessing the majority of the smaller acts haven't even been contacted yet.
I'm guessing they book some acts jointly with Outside Lands (they might even get a discount for booking in bulk? I've heard Lolla does this with Chicago, Chile, and Brazil). Look how many bands played OSL in 2011 that ended up on the farm in 2012, that cannot be coincidence. I'm guessing about a dozen or so of the artists booked for OSL 2012 will be on the farm next year.
If I recall right, there was an interview with Capps last year saying they don't lock down a lot of the undercard until December/January or so. Could be totally mistaken on that, but it's what I seem to remember.
Well, they obviously need to start earlier. Download and Greenfield sniped some great potential acts that I would have liked to have seen at Roo: QOTSA, NOFX, The Gaslight Anthem, Motorhead, Rammstein, and Iron Maiden.

He said they don't lock it down. I am sure they put feelers out well before that. Download is a big draw from classic metal, so they have the advantage on band like the last three you mentioned. Would you rather be a huge deal at Download (like Rammstein and Iron Maiden) or upper-mid lineup like they would be at Roo?
I tweeted A Silent Film earlier today, they replied the following: "Think of tour plans for 2013 as a good stew. Right now they are simmering away nicely, and soon we will be able to reveal..."
I usually get an honest response from the Thermals each year, when I email or Facebook them, saying something like "we wish, but we were not asked to play this year. Hopefully next year.
This week I posted to their wall "I just know that next year is the year you will finally play Bonnaroo!" and they liked the post.
Take it for what you will. They are also finishing up recording their new album, so they will definitely be on tour.
