Wow, the late-nite Porter Robinson show is free with your ticket. I might actually go.
Did they give details on this at all?
Is it just going to be on one of the main stages after midnight when all the other shows are finished?
FEd Ex Stage - this if from the main Memphis In May Page. I guess its after all other stages have shut down. and saturday only
saturday, may 4th (late nite) | Fed Ex Stage
This 20 year-old talent has been touted by his peers (read Tiësto, Skrillex and Deadmau5) as one of the nu-breed saviors of electronic music, and having only experienced the limelight for a short amount of time, his achievements paint the picture of a bright future. He was voted number 40 on DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs List for 2012 and Rolling Stone Magazine included Porter Robinson as one of "The 25 DJs That Rule the Earth." He is starring on the first late night set at Park after Dark at the 2013 Beale Street Music Festival
FRIDAY: The Joy Formidable MiMoSa Deftones Bassnectar
SATURDAY: Jake Bugg Cracker Big Boi Gov't Mule ZZ Top > The Black Keys Porter Robinson LN
SUNDAY: River City Tanlines Public Enemy Gary Clark Jr. Phoenix The Flaming Lips > The Smashing Pumpkins
LOL and what fucking SUCKS is that other than my first 2 shows on Friday, not a SINGLE show I'm seeing is at the same stage back to back. My feet are going to fucking hurt so damn bad walking that entire park between each show! And WTF are they thinking putting Phoenix before The Flaming Lips?

I live in TN yet I've never been. It always falls during finals. This year, my last year of taking classes, all of my finals happen to fall beforehand. Butttttt..... it turns out that one of my best friends is getting married that weekend in upstate NY, and I'm a groomsman in the wedding. So I suppose it's just another awesome Beale St. lineup I'm going to miss. Have fun, those of you who go!
Have fun with that one. I'll be watching Goat and The Black Angels.
I'm more concerned with Mavis vs. Patti vs. Big Boi that day.
Or worse, Mavis vs. Patti Smith vs. Jerry Lee Lewis vs. Big Boi... damn, two of my main draws right there may be conflicting... that blows. I guess I'd go with Patti Smith, because that was my "wow" moment when looking at this lineup.
aic is still awesome. if you don't believe it go see them.
This is old, I know, but it needs to be repeated... the ONLY people I've seen who bash on the new AIC live show are *gasp* people who haven't seen them. They, in my opinion (and I was a huge Layne fan) put on much more consistently good shows than they did with Layne. Just, go back and listen to a handful of their old shows, then go and try to find some concert audio from the last 5 or 6 years. They have more energy, have longer sets... don't have to worry about Layne Staley not being able to do jack shit on stage because he's so strung out. That said, I've seen the new AIC twice, and I'd likely skip this show for either Hall and Oates or Charles Bradley (probably the latter).
I'm doing a Saturday day pass with a couple of buddies. I'll have to jump on the hotel earlier next year, as the best I could find that wasn't booked up or outrageously priced was the La Quinta near the airport. I can cancel that for free, though, so if anyone knows of any better options, I would appreciate the scoop.
Saturday Heartless Bastards Jerry Lee Lewis Big Boi/Mavis/Patti (undecided, might get a bit of each) Dwight Yoakam The Roots (seeing The Black Keys that Friday in Nashville, so no conflict here) Porter Robinson LN
Shit you are killing some fest this year... I may have to meet up with some inforooers if I can't get anyone to go to this with me. My girlfriend is going to shaky knees unless I can convince her to change her mind for a fest that is 20x better.
We will definitely plan an Inforoo pre-game get-together Saturday for lunch on Beale St. Attendance is mandatory to receive your Memphis merit badge.
Where do you guys plan on eating? May I suggest Rendezvous. They have the best ribs I've tried. Neely's is good also and I've heard good things about Central. I think Rendezvous would be the closest to the fest.
Oh, when I said lunch, I meant drinks. Rendezvous is great but more dinner-ish. Huey's is a cool, centrally-located bar with grrreat burgers. My pick would be Alfred's bigass back patio on Beale, with live music and the beer drinking goat.

You could always grab a deep fried hamburger at Dyer's on Beale. They claim to have been using the same grease for 90 + years, straining it and heating it to a certain temperature to kill bacteria each day. I don't know, last time I ate there on the way back from Bonnaroo it did not sit too well.
