Willie Nelson Ryan Adams Bonnie Raitt Van Lear Rose (playing Van Lear Rosef) The Civil Wars (missed them last year) George Strait w/ Ace in the Hole
I don't think of Ryan Adams as country - at least not in the same vein as George and Willie. But I'd love to see him at Bonnaroo, regardless.
Ryan has been on my Bonnaroo wishlist for several years. I am not sure that he is currently touring and I can hardly tolerate his website to check, but wouldn't be surprised if he went back out this summer. I saw him and Isbell during the acoustic tour and they were both great. His sets can be a little on the long side, so he would be a good tent closer. His tour in 2008 is still one of my favorite tours ever and I saw him about 6 times that year.
A lot of these acts mentioned are way to big to play Bonnaroo with out headlining in my opinion. Most are selling out football stadiums and arenas. I've looked over a ton of dates and most country acts going now are ruled out. Came up with a few possibilities though. I'd say Colt Ford would be most likely. He isn't your run of the mill country singer and would fit roo perfectly I think. When booking current country Roo seems to go for acts with a certain grittiness to them. Hunter Hayes' dates work but I think he is way too soft for Roo. Lee Brice was really the only other name I came up with.

Other than Keith Urban, what other acts mentioned do you see as only headliners?
Jim Lauderdale would be great. Also Blackberry Smoke, Shooter Jennings, and of course Willie. I'd love to see any of those, though Jim is the only one I've never seen so he would be my first pick.
Shockingly little country in the initial lineup. I expect to see Shovels & Rope as an add, though. They seem to be at most festivals this year.
Someone needs to b!tch about this. Just not me, cause I don't care.
LOL. I'm very happy with the lineup just surprised that Dwight Yoakam is the only country artist currently on the list. I've seen some good country at Roo over the years! (Miranda Lambert, Jamey Johnson, Merle Haggard, Kenny Rogers, Shooter Jennings, Zac Brown Band.)

Zac Brown Band and Kenny Rogers were both additions, so maybe we'll get a few in there this year yet. I agree with you, the lineup is country-deficient right now.

One of the highlights last year for me was when Kenny got the award and Lionel Richie came up and sang with him. Now I must say, I have no music from either, I would not listen to their music lol, but it was just amazing and fun. BTW, not to dog country music, I grew up seeing Patsy Cline, J Cash and all the greats. Just not my style .... cr****
not a big modern country fan, so dont know much about the genre other than big green tractor. would people consider John Fullbright to be country. great album

Check out Jason Isbell if you aren't familiar. He would be considered in the alt-country genre. It is a little light on country, but there are still quite a few names that could be announced.

Also Drew Holcomb & The Neighbours are great. One of the best bands on the lineup for me. I don't really know if they should be described as country, but I think country fans could really appreciate them.

I actually went to high school with his guitarist. Seen 'em a few times in small clubs in memphis and knoxville they were pretty good. Really tight band. I dunno if they would be a tent act though..they seem more like a cafe stage, but who knows.
