If I were to see these bands back to back, I'd rather see Grizzly Bear open the show. GB would be beautiful and relaxing, and I would be in heaven by the end of their set. Then I could get nice and drunk and rock out to Sleigh Bells. If it were the other way around, I wouldn't enjoy SB as much because I would be waiting for GB the whole time.
The variable in this equation is the Sleigh Bells fans. If you put SB on first, do they all clear out afterwards and leave an actually enjoyable atmosphere for Grizzly Bear? Or do they get obnoxiously drunk as college freshmen are wont to do, and ruin the GB show with calls of "WOOOOOOOO" redolent of Monster Energy Drink and vodka, cramming the standing areas with plaid shirts and ripped fishnet stockings?
On the other hand, if GB goes first, you can enjoy it and get the f*ck out of there, and hope that all the Sleigh Bells fans' parents don't drop them off until right before SB goes on.
If I've already enjoyed a full set of GB, I'm fully ready to get intoxicated with the children and listen to loud noisy music. It will make me feel young and relevant again
Just listened to all of Yellow house and Shields. They're both fantastic, but I think I need another listen to Yellow House because Id put it as 3rd of the 3...
Shields Veckatimest Yellow House
would be the order I would put those 3 in after one listen
All of them are really fantastic though, and I really hope they are on the farm. Sundown.

Where do you guys get these impressions of Sleigh Bells fans?? I dig Sleigh Bells. I first saw them a few years ago open for LCD Soundsystem and iv liked them ever since. I also like Grizzly Bear and I can assure you if they played after Sleigh Bells I would not be drunk or amped up on red bull and heckling the band and ruining the atmosphere. Truth be told I'd light up a J and enjoy the show.

It would be an odd setup though. But I would join in the lighting up of the J and enjoying the show

Odd set ups are the best! Odd set ups are why I dig Roo. One year I def jumped from Opeth to The Decemberists and I can assure you I didn't show up to the Decemberists set drunk trying to start mosh pits.

I guess I would just rather see Sleigh Bells play after Grizzly Bear

Yeah I agree. Just saying other way around wouldn't be so bad. Although once I saw Major Lazer open for Miike Snow and by the time Miike Snow came on the entire crowd was just fried.

Yeah Shields may be their finest work yet. I really hope they're on the bill this year.
Are they too big for a LN tent set?
I just "discovered" them personally. Im sure I am out of touch in regards to their popularity, but I would say that they'd do fine in a LN tent. Id rather them in the Childish Gambino spot.
How sweet would it be:
Which Sat:
Gogol Bordello > Grizzly Bear > Phoenix >>>>> NIN LN
Shields in definitely my number one pick. Knife just kills me. Also, I am a fan of Sleigh Bells as well. I never noticed that their fan base is largely college kids? I like their music too much to pay attention to that shiz. If I like it, I like it.
They don't strike me as the right band for a late-night tent set. Assuming they're at Bonnaroo, I will absolutely be at their set regardless of where it is on the schedule (and probably be there several minutes early to get a good spot), but I think they'd be just perfect as the Sunday Which closer. Both in terms of the size/popularity of their band and the atmosphere of their music.
They're sort of on the same level of popularity as The Shins, right? Maybe not now that I'm really thinking about it. Maybe a tent closer or on the Which Stage right before the closer on Friday or Saturday.
Oh, and to chime in with my thoughts on the ranking of their albums, I think Yellow House is their best by a fair margin, although Veckatimest and Shields are both totally brilliant as well. I'd say Yellow House, then Shields, then Veckatimest. "Knife" is their best song, followed closely by "Two Weeks" (although Shields is IMO more consistent and cohesive than Veckatimest as an album).

I don't see them as a fit for the Sunday Which closer, not high-energy enough. I'm still putting money down that Vampire Weekend closes Which on Sunday.
I think Grizzly Bear is the second-to-last band that plays Which on any given day, maybe Which closer on Friday or Saturday, or MAYBE a LN tent set
Either way, incredibly excited that he pretty much confirmed they'll be there. This was one of my biggest wants for this year

I don't see the Sunday Which closing slot as being a high-energy slot. For me, it's usually the sort of "comedown" show after a weekend of exerting myself. The three bands I've seen in that slot are The Shins, The Strokes, and Phoenix. None of these were necessarily high-energy shows that required a lot of movement/dancing from the audience to be enjoyable; they're just sets that sound really pleasant and provide one last, enjoyable set (that doesn't require a lot of energy) before you head back to your tent to pack. That's how I see the Sunday Which closer (to me, it's an important, very distinctive slot on the schedule), and to me Grizzly Bear fits it absolutely perfectly in terms of atmosphere. Now that I've thought about it, though, I don't think they're QUITE big enough to hold it down just yet.
If anything, though, I don't think they have the right atmosphere or energy or whatnot for a late-night slot. I can't see them in a LN tent spot on the schedule.
