Oh god, I was embarrassed in front of Tom's family. I knew I shouldn't have said anything...
I mostly remember deep-fried oreos, my two friends suffering from a similar state, and Helicopter being one of the most amazing things I've ever heard.
God Helicopter was a spiritual experience.

First and only time I saw them was Bonnaroo 2011 from a picnic table 50 or so yards away. I was all set on getting close for theirs and Deerhunter's sets, but was completely incapacitated at that table for 3 or so hours. I alternated between puking my insides out and mustering the strength to keep my eyes open to watch their sets. Brilliant start to my first Bonnaroo.
Dude! I think I saw you. Do you remember a blond haired boy of about 9 laughing and pointing at you?
they were laughing "with" you ned, not at you. don't worry.

There's a good 4 or 5 on here I haven't heard yet, or if I did I don't remember it. Thanks.

1. New God Flow - Pusha T, Kanye West & Ghostface Killah
This was in my top 5 or 10 songs of the year when it first came out earlier this year. Then the complete version came out, with Ghostface dropping an absolutely incredible verse on the end, and that's it, game over. Pusha let loose a devastating first two verses (which include some great back-and-forth with Kanye), Kanye continues to improve as an MC, and the beat is just tremendous; Supreme Clientele-era Wu-beats filtered through Kanye's finer sensibilities.
2. Wasted Days - Cloud Nothings
Never has ripping off "Paint It Black" sounded so goddanged awesome.
3. Call Me Maybe - Carly Rae Jepsen
Look, 10 years from now, when you're randomly out at some bar or a party, what song from this year would randomly come on and have you absolutely lose your sh*t in a haze of goofy, nostalgic euphoria? It's this one, not some f*cking obscure b-side from some goonish shut-in making records in his basement. Just admit it and let's all move on.
4. A Species Out of Control - Simian Mobile Disco 5. Survival Tactics - Joey Bada$$ 6. Black Tongue - Feist 7. Five Seconds - Twin Shadow
I'm convinced that if Kenny Loggins grabbed a CD of his greatest hits in 1990, time traveled to 2012, uploaded it to Soundcloud and told everyone he was from Brooklyn, Pitchfork would give it a 9.6. This is prompted by Twin Shadow.
8. m.A.A.d. city - Kendrick Lamar (Feat. MC Eiht) 9. Black Lip Bastard - Ab-Soul feat. Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q and Jay Rock
This is the Black Hippy portion of the list. The beat switch and contribution from MC Eiht make m.A.A.d. city the standout on that album for me, and Black Lip Bastard is so forgotten that it's f*cking criminal.
10. Higher Ground - TNGHT 11. Oh Hail No - El-P feat. Mr. Muthaf*ckin' Exquire and Danny Brown 12. Turn It Around - the Men 13. Pistolier - Roc Marciano 14. Tesselate - Alt-J
I have a lot of hip-hop on this list. It was a great year for hip-hop. If anyone tells you that hip-hop is on the decline, punch them in the neck.
15-17. Kindred/Ashtray Wasp/Loner - Burial
Take your pick as to order. Just excellence all around.
18. Flutes - Hot Chip 19. Fitzpleasure - Alt-J 20. Take My Bones Away - Baroness 21. Pyramids - Frank Ocean 22. OFWGKTA - Oldie 23. No. 1 Against the Rush - Liars 24. Reagan - Killer Mike 25. Do Ya Thing - Gorillaz feat. Andre 3000 and James Murphy

No. Stop. You're trying too hard, and it's not working.

I would totally be ok with this (although I don't think the song has any teeth beyond the chorus) but you don't have Usher on your list, and that's inexcusable.

Nope. There's a goddang reason this song was everywhere. The only people trying too hard are the ones who attempt to deny it.

If I'm expanding to 30 tracks, it's on there. Juuuuuuust missed the cut.
