You probably want to prepare him for there being none of that on the line-up.
I did. But I also told him he should be open to checking out other kinds of metal. We'll just say, if he can mosh to the music, he'll probably check it out.

probably. I saw Meshuggah open for Tool and there was a guy head banging so hard next to me that I thought he was just going to slam his head into me. also the Meshuggah singer was giving the death stare and I was laughing at him. good times.
The Russian Circles/KEN Mode/Inter Arma show last night kicked ass, posted my review about it in the "Any Good Shows Lately?" thread.
One other thing worth mentioning. During that show, I saw an extremely young metal head in training. Some dad brought his son to the show. He sat him up on his shoulders, put some noise blocking headphones on him, and he was good to go! I saw him in the crowd during Inter Arma and KEN Mode, but he got up front and center for Russian Circles. Here's a pic of him watching Russian Circles get their gear set up.
PLEASE let one of their NYC shows be on the list. I assume I'll get one in my area, it'd be awesome to see Mastodon perform that album.
I like A$AP Rosko's idea he posted on facebook where they split the set with 45 minutes of Leviathan and 45 of other material. They do have a new album coming out, so I can't imagine that they wouldn't play any new material.

Oh, I think they'd have to do something like that. Leviathan is 46 minutes, even with a little extra pizzazz in there they'd need more songs to fill in a set. They even said "and other tracks" in that article, I'm pretty sure.
It will be awesome to see them do this. The first time I saw Mastodon was when they were opening for Clutch right before they recorded Leviathan. I had never heard them before, they opened with Hearts Alive and blew my mind. That's still my favorite Mastodon show.

Deathwish Fest 2014
It's not going to be anything that would cause me to want to travel a great distance, but I would certainly be on the lookout for more info if I lived closer.
