Talkers in the back, watchers in the front. Is that so damn hard? I hate when I spend good money for good seats and the morons treat it like a cocktail party, no damn respect I say.
Some glue-sniffing couple rudely pushed their way into a packed crowd mid-show at Radiohead @ Coachella last year, and then went on to talk loudly to each other. I not-so-kindly told them how lame they were for pushing their way through just to talk and not even pay attention. Faith in humanity was restored when multiple people around me backed me up and shamed them into leaving after a couple songs. Still very distruptive. This song is for them:
A dude behind us kept trying to harmonize (loudly and terribly) with Alison Sudol. It was the most disappointing show I've ever seen, so it was a welcome distraction to laugh about. Anywhere else it would've annoyed the piss outta me.
When it came, they learned that you don't try that on people that primarily went to metal shows in those days.
TRUTH!!! I grew up on metal and punk shows, and now that I'm mainly at jammy and indie shows I am always finding myself putting people in check. I get so many hi5s because I am totally willing to be "that guy" that gets rid of the asshat that is ruining everyone's time in a section.
The IPAD thing is ridiculous as well. Why would someone take that to a concert?
My biggest pet peeve at shows, besides people screaming offkey lyrics over the band, or clapping with the beat the whole show, is people that are turned around the whole show facing me.
Why the fuckk are you in front of me if you aren't looking at the band? All they do is stare at the crowd and make creeper eye contact with people.

I'm guilty of singing along loudly at shows, especially if I'm drunk. But only to songs/bands to which I know the lyrics pretty well. I don't know what to say, it's fun for me, it adds to my enjoyment of the show.
I was the smartphone guy, always checking Facebook or something. But I keep to myself, I ain't trying to bother anyone. I can still hear things, and usually I'm in the back.
The one time I went for the rail was on the boat for PHJB during Forecastle weekend. As soon as Jim James gets on stage, some creepy fuck with a camera phone pushes his way to the front and takes 600 pictures. Was so tempted to give the guy a high elbow, but security was too close to get away with it.
And when a group, two rows of people in front of me, leaves and there is bid hole to move up in, but the people directly in front of me don't move up. Which means, I can't move up. My natural instinct is move closer when given the chance, so it is torture seeing a big empty space ahead of me with nobody in it.

Freefest was the worst for bad behavior. In just a 1 day fest I witnessed:
People laughing at a girl being carried out on a stretcher People booing/shaming one guy in particular though to be fair I don't know what his offense was A group pushing to the front and I almost got into a fight with one of the girls People loudly talking during Porter Robinson's set and one guy bragging about how he knew the guy, had seen him 5 years ago in Europe even though PR was maybe all of 17 years old at the time of this concert. This guy continued to talk through every show we saw there bragging about all these "people" he knew and how he heard of them first. I remember turning to Dave saying "HE IS SO FULL OF SHIT! JAMES MURPHY WAS TOURING WITH LCD THEN!" And Dave shushing me because I was getting louder and angrier the drunker I got.

I was at a show where this woman started dismembering this guy with a chainsaw. I don't know their story so maybe he deserved it. But he was howling (loudly and way off key) and couldn't she have used a machete or something less loud and stinky?

Freefest is almost at DMB show level for horrible behavior. Just all the belligerent drunken bros and the broettes running around, who need swift beatings on the regular.

And you guys wonder why I get tossed year after year.
People who are waiting for the band that is playing later and wont stop complaining about and/or badmouthing the current band. That kind of negativity is toxic and has no place at festivals.

I feel compelled to defend tall people.
I'm 6'4 and I'm always aware of the fact that I'm probably blocking someones view and being cussed nonstop at shows. Here's the problem though, I used to always offer people I thought to go step ahead of me but I've done that and it opened the floodgates of people wanting past. A lot of times its people tapping saying can I move. i try to comply but damnit, I was there for a long time usually in a group and I don't feel like being pushed to the back. Like someone mentioned, tall guy guilt is strong but don't act like it' s your right to stand in front of me. Sorry for being tall.
Others:
A girl asking to get in front of me and you let her and she's holding hands with a train of 7 dudes.
Going to a club-type show and people who are up front and talk during opening acts. A lot of times I'm there for those acts and people just act like it's a normal bar and show no respect at all. I have said something before to the effect - "hey, you know why you are having to yell to each other? There is a quacking band ten feet in front of you playing"
Band comes on stage - 1 thousand phones go up in the air. It's just sad.

Thank you thank you thank you! All of these are the things that drive me up the wall as well. I too also am plagued by "tall guilt" at shows.

Don't worry man. Some of us know its not your fault that you are tall. You shouldn't have to stand in that back just because you are vertically blessed.
Now everyone (whether you are super tall or not) should make an effort to not stand directly in front if someone who is shorter than them. A few inches to one side can make a huge difference. But sometimes you have no choice.

But you don't seem to me the type of person that goes postal on some bros.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

I have to be deal with tall guilt as well but i tend to stand near the back anyways cause i have developed anxiety in crowds as i've got older but the worst part about being tall is security always comes after me when they see someone do anything wrong. For instance when i saw weezer at the avalon a few years back someone near me was smoking and i was just standing watching and security tried to throw me out but thankfully a nice person behind me stood up and pointed out who it was and i got no apology from the tough man in the security tshirt

When a tightly packed crowd is mostly standing still, don't flail around indiscriminately and justify it as dancing. That's a obviously jerk move. But it's equally annoying to see people push up close at a metal or punk show and then clutch their pearls when a pit breaks out behind them. Know where you are. People are going to be moshing at Fucked Up, Converge, and Lightning Bolt shows even after the indie rock publications have started hyping them.
