Well, I guess this is it. It was a nice "year," but I guess all good things must come to an end. And since Tom can't be bothered to give a real victory speech, my ego will give one for him:
I'm sure Tom is honored to be handed his award by me. It's not every day you get to follow in the footsteps of greatness, after all. I'd like to think my time as the inaugural TIN recipient was well spent, going so far as to vacate the throne for a time to fight for the rights of the smallfolk and overthrow a tyrannical message board overlord. And boredom, lots of boredom. That may have been before you joined the inforoo elite, but an important piece of the puzzle nonetheless.
You have responsibilities now, Mr. Gadling. You are on the Mt. Rushmore of next-gen inforoo members, DO NOT TAKE THIS LIGHTLY. People will look up to you, strive to be like you, strive to be with you. The people that lost to you will resent you and plot your demise (don't let Jackson's sunny disposition fool you, he's been gunning for me since last year's award announcement).
You won't get a trophy from this group of slackers, so make your own. I took a replica mini-Lombardi Trophy and made it my personal TIN Trophy.
This is not an award for the faint of heart, Tom. Cherish it, TIN 2.0, cherish it always, but fear it or else it will consume you.
And as your gift (because I'm Italian and Italian people reward each other for non-existent achievements better than anyone), I am nominating you to be the patron saint of the Guild. Gone, but not forgotten.
(I'm fully aware this makes zero sense to 99% of the people on here)
3 Cheers for the good guy, huzzah!
And yes, I'm trying to steal your spotlight, like a good predecessor should.
So if we had a worst rookie of the year, would it be the Jamarcus Russell or the Heath Shuler award? Discuss.
The Ryan Leaf.
I worry that Ryan Leaf would make it carry an inference of mental instability on the part of the poster. Jamarcus Russell would carry laziness. Heath Shuler is probably the closest to outright sucking.
